MOTHER NATURE SCORES WIN; SPEEDWAY SUFFERS FIRST RAIN OUT OF 2017

Jamaica, VA – Wet weather and the forecast for more have forced officials to cancel racing activities for Saturday April 22, 2017 at Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway. “With the rain we have already had, the cooler temperatures and more rain headed our way we are forced to make this tough decision; everyone hates a rain out”, commented track General Manager Clarke Sawyer. The speedway will take the weekend of Saturday April 29th off due to the NASCAR events at Richmond Raceway. The Speedway will return to racing on Saturday May 6, 2017 for Truckin Thunder Scout Night. The night will feature the 6th Annual Dirtwood Nationals Pinewood Derby and all Scouts in uniform will get in free. Scouts, fans and competitors are all encouraged to participate. Speedway to Host Week 3 of Aaron’s Dirt Series Championship Action This Saturday April 22nd

Jamaica, VA – This Saturday April 22nd Virginia Motor Speedway will host week 3 of the Aaron’s Dirt Series Championship weekly racing action featuring the Victory Lap Pro Late Model, Truckin Thunder Sportsman, Budweiser Modified and Collision One Limited Stock Car divisions. After two weeks of championship action the rivalries are heating up early this year. Both Tyler Bare of Rockbridge Baths, VA (Victory Lap Pro Late Model) and Joey Polevoy of Powhatan, VA (Budweiser Modified) both have back to back victories to start the 2017 season. Both drivers will not be able to start any closer than eighth this weekend due to the track’s two win in a row rule. It should make for a very exciting night of racing. The Truckin Thunder Sportsman and Collision One Limited Stock Car divisions have been ultra-competitive and will be exciting to watch this Saturday once racing resumes. Admission price for adults is only $12, seniors (60+) $10; military (active/retired w/ proper I.D.) $8, students 11 – 17 years old $6 and children 10 and under admitted free. Pit passes will be $20. Jamaica, VA – Tonight the roar of engines comes to life at Virginia Motor Speedway with Rappahannock Community College Night presented by WRAR / WNNT and the opening weekend of the 2017 season. All Rappahannock Community College students and staff with school ID will be admitted free. The night will feature the Victory Lap Pro Late Model, Truckin Thunder Sportsman, Budweiser Modified and Collision One Limited Stock Car divisions in some exciting side by side action. Competitor gates for Saturday April 1st will open at 12pm for inspection and registration with spectator gates opening at 5pm. On track activities will begin at 6pm for hot laps. Ryan Montgomery Drives from Fifteenth to Score $5000 FASTRAK World Challenge Victory; $15,000 World Championship to Cap off Weekend

Jamaica, VA – To say the 2016 edition of the FASTRAK World Challenge was phenomenal would be an understatement. The race had five lead changes and three and four wide racing all night. In the end it was Ryan Montgomery of Fairmont, WV grabbing the lead from Jensen Ford of Piney Flatts, TN on lap 35 and holding off Henry Hornsby III and Tyler Bare to score the $5000 victory. “After getting by him for the lead earlier I knew if I could stay close to Jensen (Ford) I might have a chance on a restart or in traffic, and when we got in traffic I knew I had to take a shot at him and it worked,” commented Montgomery in victory lane. Henry Hornsby III and Corey Almond led the field to green with Almond leading the first circuit. Almond would pace the field for the first 11 laps before Cla Knight through a slide job on him in turn 4 to take the lead on lap 12. By lap 18 Jensen Ford had worked his way to second and on lap 21 got inside Knight out of turn 4 for the lead. After a violent flip by Corey Almond in turn 1 on a lap 22 restart Ford, Walker Arthur and Jimmy MacNamara put on a three wide clinic for the lead on the next restart with Ford holding on by inches at the line. On the next circuit Arthur swept the outside of Jensen and MacNamara to take the lead out of turn 2 only to have the caution come out yet again and hand the lead back to Jensen. On lap 23 Ryan Montgomery worked traffic to perfection sweeping the outside of lapped traffic along with race leader Ford for the lead. On the lap 25 Ford would get back around Montgomery for the lead. He would only hold that lead for 10 more laps before Montgomery dove inside Ford out of turn four for the lead. With Montgomery leading Tyler Bare would work his way from his eighteenth starting position to take over third. It looked as if he might have the fastest car on the track. But two late cautions allowed Montgomery to hold off the field and go on to the $5000 World Challenge victory. Rounding out the top five were henry Hornsby III, Tyler Bare, Walker Arthur and Kyle Lukon. Heat race winners were Henry Hornsby III, Corey Almond and Cla Knight. B Main wins went to Ron Parker and Mark Parks. Virginia Motor Speedway Victory Lap Pro Late Model Champion Justin Williams set overall fast time with a lap of 18.371 seconds (97.981 mph). The speedway will return to racing tomorrow Saturday September 17th for the $15,000 to win Aaron’s FASTRAK World Championship presented by James River Equipment and Commonwealth Motorsports. The race is open to all Chevrolet Performance Late Models, for the first time in the sanctions history, as long as they pass FASTRAK rules. The night will also feature the Southeast Dirt Modified Series in the $3000 to win “Southeast Modified Showdown”. FASTRAK WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP PURSES RELEASED

Jamaica, VA — Officials from Fastrak Racing and Virginia Motor Speedway have announced the complete purses for both nights of the Fastrak World Championship presented by James River Equipment. Friday night competitors will be competing in a 40 lap event that will pay the winner $5000. On Saturday night competitors will compete for the $15,000 top prize and be crowned World Champion. Other notable positions will see $3000 for 5th; $1400 for 10th and $500 to start the A Main. The speedway is offering a tremendous two-day ticket price of only $22. The special ticket will only be sold on Friday September 18th. The special price is to encourage fans to attend both nights of racing. A two-day pit pass (regardless of age) is only $40 and will also get you a seat in the grandstands as well for the two days.
