Trevor Collins Takes Pro Late Model Win; Hamilton, Adkins, and Brooks Also Grab Wins. Pilkerton, Butler, Adkins and Brooks Crowned Champions

Jamaica, VA – With a great crowd in attendance for Joe Hudson’s Collision Center Championship Night, Trevor Collins of Loveville, MD, set fast time, got inverted to fourth, led the first lap, and went on to lead flag to flag to take his first career Victory Lap Pro Late Model win at Virginia Motor Speedway. “We have been trying for years to win here; we finally put it all together, and man, it feels good,” commented Collins in Virginia Is for Racing Lovers victory lane. Point leader Jeremy Pilkerton of Loveville, MD, had a close call on lap 27 of the 30-lap feature when Billy Hubbard of Cobbs Creek, VA, barreled down into turn 3 with the two banging together. Pilkerton would gather it back up, fall in behind Hubbard, and finish sixth, securing the 2023 Victory Lap Pro Late Model Championship by 3 points over Hubbard. “When I got passed by those two cars, I knew I was going to have to slow down going into turn 3 and that Hubbard was going to drive it in deep. I figured that if I just kept the car straight, I would be OK. It feels great to get this Championship,” commented Jeremy Pilkerton. Pilkerton and Hubbard led the field to green, getting together on the backstretch, with Trevor Collins getting by to take the lead with Pilkerton in second. On lap 5, Davis Lipscombe got by Pilkerton for second and set out to catch Collins. On the next lap, Lipscombe got inside Collins in turn 1, but that was the closest he would get the rest of the race. On lap 23, Lipscombe and Pilkerton battled for second as Collins pulled away. On a lap 24 restart, Pilkerton lost third to Corey Almond and fourth to Nick Davis. Heading into turn 3, Pilkerton had to get on the binders, allowing Billy Hubbard to dive in under him, with the two getting together. Hubbard would get by, with Pilkerton following right behind him. Collins would take the win, followed by Davis Lipscombe, Corey Almond, Nick Davis, and Billy Hubbard. Pilkerton was crowned the 2023 Champion, his first at Virginia Motor Speedway. The Budweiser Modified 25-lap feature came down to the last lap with point leader Chase Butler of Mechanicsville, VA, trying a slide-job on leader Bret Hamilton of Powhatan, VA in turn 3. Hamilton was able to turn back down under Butler in turn 3, making it three-wide with a lapped car as they came to the line, with Hamilton grabbing the win by .029 seconds. Rounding out the top five were Butler, Scott Heath, Michael Pappas, and Jeff Solinger. Chase Butler was crowned the 2023 Budweiser Modified Champion, his third Championship in a row. In the Truckin Thunder Sportsman 25-lap feature, Brett Adkins of Saluda, VA, took the lead from Matt Meads of Elizabeth City, NC, on lap 7. For the next 4 laps, Adkins would race side-by-side with Meads while point leader Steve Causey of Smithfield, VA, rode in third. On lap 14, Causey got past Meads to catch Adkins, who had checked out. A caution closed Causey up on the bumper of Adkins. On the restart, Causey got under Adkins, and the two raced side-by-side until back into turn 1 with one to go. Causey stayed on Adkin’s bumper heading into turn three when a car spun in front of them, bringing out the caution and checkers. Rounding out the top five were Hunter Wright, Matt Meads, and Adam Breeden. In the Joe Hudson’s Collision Center Limited Stock 20 lap feature, Johnny Brooks of Aylett, VA, took the lead from Corey Bradley of Hopewell, VA, and then held off Trent Clemans of North Prince George, VA, over the remaining laps to take his seventh win of the season. Rounding out the top five were Clemans, Gregory Morgan, Jason Speelman, and Cory Bradley. Johnny Brooks was crowned the 2023 Joe Hudson’s Collision Center Champion. Logan Roberson Scores Pro Late Model Victory; Hubbard, Butler, Shelton, and Maxey Crowned 2022 Champions

Jamaica, VA – Logan Roberson of Waynesboro, VA, made his trip to Virginia Motor Speedway for some FASTRAK World Championship practice count, and in a big way. Roberson rocketed past Austin Hubbard of Bridgeville, DE, for the lead on lap 21 and then pulled away from the field to go on to grab the win in the Victory Lap Pro Late Model 30-lap feature. “It’s always great to get a win here; we feel really good about our chances in the upcoming $50,000 to win FASTRAK World Championship in September,” commented Roberson in Virginia Is For Racing Lovers victory lane. With his runner-up finish, Hubbard was crowned the 2022 Victory Lap Pro Late Model, his second at Virginia Motor Speedway. Austin Hubbard jumped to the lead on the drop of the green flag and looked to have the race with Trevor Collins close in second. By lap 10 Logan Roberson had moved into second and was closing on the leader. It looked like Hubbard would have enough to hold off Roberson that was until lap 21 when Roberson rocketed past for the lead out of turn 2. Once out front, Roberson pulled away from the field and went on to score the win by 4.995 seconds. Rounding out the top 5 were Hubbard, Ray Love Jr., Trevor Collins, and Nick Davis. In the Budweiser Modified 25-lap feature Joey Polevoy of Powhatan, VA, led flag to flag to score his second win of the season. Polevoy jumped to the lead on the drop of the green flag with Lance Grady in tow. On lap 3 point leader Chase Butler had a bit of a scare spinning to bring out the first caution of the race. On lap 12, Bret Hamilton would take second from Grady and set out to catch the leader. Polevoy would hold off Hamilton for the win. Rounding out the top 5 were Chase Butler, Lance Grady, and Brent Bordeaux. Rebounding from his lap four spin, Chase Butler of Mechanicsville, VA, was crowned the 2022 Budweiser Modified Champion for the second year in a row. Butler was the only driver in the modified division to finish in the top 5 in each race. Davis Lipscombe of Mechanicsville, VA, returned to the Truckin Thunder Sportsman division with one goal to pick up the win. The division’s 2021 champion did just that, getting by Matt Meads of Elizabeth City, NC, on lap 10. With seven laps to go, Tim Shelton of Fredericksburg, VA, had made his way back to the runner-up spot. With five laps to go, Shelton would try to get inside Lipscombe in turn 1, only to have Lipscombe use the high-side to his advantage to hold on to the top spot. Lipscombe would go on to take the win and keep Shelton from matching his perfect record set in 2021. Rounding out the top five were Shelton, Matt Meads, Adam Breeden, and James Givens. Shelton would be crowned the 2022 Truckin Thunder Champion finishing no worse than second during the 2022 season. It took Johnny Brooks of Aylett, VA, eight laps to work his way to the lead in the Collision One Limited Stock Car 20-lap feature from his sixth place starting position. Once out front, Brooks would go on to score his third win of the season. Brooks would get by Ryan Hutchens on lap 8 with an inside move out of turn 2. Brian Maxey would close in on the leader with laps winding down but would be involved in a caution ending his night. Brooks would go on to score the win over Ryan Hutchens, Cory Bradley, Jacob Buie, and Brandon Bowler. Brian Maxey of King George, VA, would be crowned the 2022 Collision One Limited Stock Car Champion. The next event for the speedway will be the $50,000 to win FASTRAK World Championship presented by Dealer Group USA, set for September 23-24, 2022. The highest-paying Pro Late Model event will attract some of the top drivers in the country to the ½-mile speed plant located in Jamaica, VA. The format for the event will include practice, qualifying, and heats on Friday, September 23, and B Mains and feature on Saturday, September 24. Jamaica, VA – The stars and cars of the FASTRAK Pro Late Model Touring Series will invade Virginia Motor Speedway for the $3000 to win Prelude to the World Championship. Many of the Mid-Atlantic’s top Pro Late Model drivers will be on hand to not only take home the $3000 top prize but also get some valuable track time for the $50,000 to win FASTRAK World Championship set for September 23-24, 2022. “What this essentially boils down to is a paid practice for Pro Late Model competitors for our upcoming $50,000 to win FASTRAK World Championship presented by Dealer Group USA,” commented track owner and President Bill Sawyer. On Saturday, June 25th, competitor gates will open at 3 PM, with spectator gates opening at 5 PM. On-track activities will begin at 5:45 PM for hot laps. Features will start at 7 PM. Divisions scheduled to race on Saturday will be the Victory Pro Late Models (30 Laps), Budweiser Modifieds (25 Laps), Truckin Thunder Sportsman (25 laps), and the Collision One Limited Stock Cars (20 laps). All divisions will run Hot Lap Time Trials and Features. Admission price for Adults $12, seniors (60+) / military (active/retired w/ proper I.D.) $10, students 13 – 17 years old $8 and children 12 and under admitted free. Pit passes will be $25. Speedway to Host Truckin Thunder Championship Night Saturday, September 4th

Jamaica, VA – After several rainouts Virginia Motor Speedway officials are excited to return to Saturday, September 4th, and host Truckin Thunder Championship Night and week 11 of Dirt Series Championship weekly racing action. The track will crown champions in all four of the speedway’s Dirt Series Championship divisions in action. See the Victory Lap Pro Late Models, Truckin Thunder Sportsman, Budweiser Modified, and Collision One Limited Stock Cars in some exciting side-by-side racing that will decide who gets crowned champion.
