WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW: MOM’S NIGHT OUT

Jamaica, VA — The speedway will host Mom’s Night Out tonight with all Mom’s and Grandma’s getting in free (grandstand admission only) to honor them on this Mother’s Day Weekend. Competitor gates for Saturday May 9th will open at 4pm with spectator gates opening at 5pm. On track activities will begin at 6:30pm with hot laps. Features start at 8pm. Admission: Adults – $12; Seniors (60+) – $10; Military (active/retired) $8; Students (11-17) – $6 and kids 10 and under free. Pit passes (regardless of age) are $20. Mom’s and Grandma’s admitted free (Grandstand admission only)! Divisions running tonight: Victory Lap Late Models (30 Laps); Aaron’s Pro Late Models (25 Laps); Truckin Thunder Sportsman (20 Laps); Budweiser Modifieds (25 Laps) and Collision One Limited Stock Cars (20 Laps). Justin Williams Takes Checkers in Late Models; Bare, Quade, Adkins and Hutchens also Grab Victories

Jamaica, VA – In front of a packed house on Truckin Thunder Scout night at Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway Justin Williams of Concord, VA and Billy Tucker of King George, VA put on a show for the ages as the two battled for 23 laps before Williams finally took the lead on lap 24 and go on to the victory. Normally a high side, cushion riding driver, Williams had to use the inside groove to finally get past Tucker for the lead. Once out front Williams set sail to pick up his first win of the season. Shotgun starting David Williams finished second with a last lap pass on Billy Tucker followed by Joe Ender and Billy Hubbard rounding out the top five. In other action Tyler Bare of Rockbridge Baths, VA took the lead on lap 17 of the Aaron’s Pro Late Model 25 lap feature and went on take his second win of the season. In the Budweiser Modified feature Matt Qaude of Mechanicsville, MD picked up his second feature win of the season in as many races after battling with Mike Reynolds for the victory. Brett Adkins of Gloucester, VA picked up the win in Truckin Thunder Sportsman and Ryan Hutchens of Providence Forge, VA scored his second win of the season in Collision One Limited Stock Cars. Billy Tucker and Billy Hubbard led the Victory Lap Late Models to the green for their 30 lap feature. Tucker took the lead out of turn 2 with Justin Williams right on his bumper. Williams worked Tucker high and looking for the lead with Tucker keeping the lead by inches each time to the line. For 22 laps Williams and Tucker battled for the lead and David Williams worked his way from his last place starting spot. On lap 23 Williams finally got to the inside of Tucker in turn 4 and took over the lead at the line. Once out front Williams pulled away and went on to win his first win of the season. David Williams, Billy Tucker, Joe Ender and Billy Hubbard rounded out the top 5. In the Aaron’s Pro Late Model 25 lap feature Davis Lipscombe and Jimmy Duncan led the field to green with Duncan taking the lead out of turn 4 with Ricky Wells in tow. By lap 10 Tyler Bare had worked his way to second and began to put pressure on the leader. Bare tried for several laps to take the lead as the two battled side by side. On lap 16 Duncan slipped up in turn 1 allowing Bare to dart inside for the lead. Once out front Bare cruised to his second consecutive win of the season. Duncan, Mark Parks, Jared Powell, and Ricky Wells rounded out the top five. Dan Arnold and Mike Clements led the Budweiser Modified field to green with Reynolds taking the lead out of turn 2 followed closely by Matt Quade. By lap 5 Reynolds had stretched his lead to almost ten car lengths when a caution came out for a spin by Joey Dean. On the restart Quade tried to take the top spot but Reynolds held him at bay. The two battled for the next 20 laps nearly side by side with Reynolds holding on to the top spot until lap 20 when Quade jumped to the outside of Reynolds in turn 4 to take the lead at the line. Once out front Quade pulled away for his second win in as many races this year. Brian Maxey, Dan Arnold, Mike Reynolds and Francis Jarrelle III rounded out the top five. In the Truckin Thunder Sportsman 20 lap feature Chad Beahr and James Snead lead the field to green with Snead grabbing the top spot out of turn 2. For 9 laps Snead paced the field with a small cushion. On lap 10 Brett Adkins began to apply pressure and on lap 11 Adkins got under Snead in turn 1 to take the lead. Once out front Adkins had to hold off the field on several restarts to pick up the win. Snead, Macy Causey, Roger Jamerson and Chad Beahr rounded out the top five. In the Collision One Limited Stock 20 lap feature Cory Bradley and Brian Bradley led the field to green with Brian Bradley taking the lead followed by Chad Champion and Ryan Hutchens. The three drivers battled for the lead the first 11 laps until Bradley exploded and engine on the backstretch. That handed the lead to Champion. On the restart Champion and Hutchens began the tussle over the top spot. On lap 15 Hutchens got to the inside of Champion out of turn 4, taking the lead by inches at the line. Over the next four laps Hutchens was able to hold off Champion for his second victory in as many weeks. Chris Maxey, Chris Champion and Brandon Sandridge rounded out the top five. The speedway will return to racing next Saturday May 9th for Mom’s Night Out. All mom’s and grandma’s will be admitted free. The night will feature all five of the Virginia Army National Guard Dirt Series divisions in action. Speedway to host Truckin Thunder Scout Night This Saturday May 2

Jamaica, VA – Virginia Motor Speedway will return to racing this Saturday May 2nd to host Truckin Thunder Scout Night. The night will feature the Aaron’s Pro Late Model and Budweiser Modified divisions in the “Twin Race” format. The night will also feature the 4th Annual Dirtwood Nationals Pinewood Derby. Gates will open at 3pm for registration with the Dirtwood National Pinewood Derby starting at 4pm. Competitor gates for Saturday May 2nd will open at 3pm with spectator gates opening at 5pm. On track activities will begin at 6:30pm for hot laps. Divisions scheduled to race on Saturday: Victory Lap Late Models (30 Laps); Aaron’s Pro Late Models (Twin 15 laps); Budweiser Modifieds (Twin 15 Laps); Truckin Thunder Sportsman (25 Laps) and the Collision One Limited Stock Cars (20 Laps). Speedway Crowns 2014 Champions; Williams crowned VA Army National Guard Dirt Series Champion

Jamaica, VA – Bill Sawyers Virginia Motor Speedway wrapped up the 2014 season by recognizing the top ten in each of the track’s divisions with special attention reserved for the 2014 champions. During the night’s events almost $38,000 in cash and prizes were awarded, of that almost $32,000 was in cash. Justin Williams of Shipman, VA was crowned the 2014 Victory Lap Late Model Champion for the second year in a row and received a check for $5,000 for his efforts. Williams also received a $500 certificate from the Joie of Seating, a custom calendar from Al Goulder Photography and his Championship helmet trophy and jacket. Bobby Thompson of Concord, VA was crowned the very first Aaron’s Pro Late Model Champion. Thompson received a check for $1,000, a $500 certificate from the Joie of Seating, a custom calendar from Al Goulder Photography and his Championship helmet trophy and jacket. 10TH Annual Run A Muck Mud Bog, Mud Sling this Saturday Oct. 11th at The Pit

Jamaica, VA – The Pit at Virginia Motor Speedway will host the 10th Annual Run-A-Muck Mud Bog, Mud Sling presented by James River Equipment, RedNex Sporting Goods and The Virginia Army National Guard this Saturday October 11th featuring a state of the art 200-foot Mud Bog and Mud Sling pits. Additional sponsorship provided by Kalbones Speed Shop and Off Road, Monster Energy Drinks, After Hours Fabrication, ORI of Richmond, Collision One and Truckin Thunder. There will be nine classes of “Mud Maniacs” in action ranging from super stock to unlimited with cash payouts in all classes. Speedway to host final point race of season and crown 2014 Champions this Saturday September 13th

Jamaica, VA – Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway will return to racing this Saturday September 13th for Safety-Kleen Championship Night presented by Chandler Chevrolet and WIGO. The night will feature the Victory Lap Late Model, Aaron’s Pro Late Model, Truckin Thunder Sportsman, Budweiser Modified and Collision One Limited Stock Car divisions in the final point race of the 2014 season. The track’s 2014 champions will be crowned in all five Virginia Army National Guard Dirt Series divisions. With this being the final night of point racing every lap will be important. All five divisions will have drivers working hard to get into the top ten or stay in the top ten in championship points. Justin Williams gets ninth Late Model win the hard way; Bare, Marshall, Adkins and Childress also pick up wins

Jamaica, VA – Justin Williams of Shipman, VA swept the outside of race-long leader Brandon Long out of turn 4 heading to the white flag taking over the lead and going on to collect his ninth Victory Lap Late Model win at Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway on Virginia Army National Guard “Salute to the Fallen” Tribute Night. Buck Roadcap and Brandon Long led the field to green with Long taking the top spot out of turn 2. Once out front Long began to pull away while Justin Williams and Billy Tucker battled for second. On Lap 15 Tucker and Williams got together in turn 2 bringing out a caution and sending both to the rear for the restart. With Long dominating up front Williams began his charge back to the front. On lap 27 Williams took over second from John Staton. On the following lap Williams pulled up on Long and then swept to his outside out of turn 4 to take the lead at the white flag. Once out front Williams pulled away to take his ninth win of the season followed by Long, Staton, Tim Shelton and Stephen Childress. Also picking up wins were Matt Marshall (Budweiser Modified); Tyler Bare (Aaron’s Pro Late Models); Brett Adkins (Truckin Thunder Sportsman) and Stephen Childress (Collision One Limited Stocks). After getting called out on Facebook track General Manger Clarke Sawyer and Dave Seay, Director of Sales and Marketing took the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge on the front stretch to the cheers of the fans in the grandstands. The two called out late model driver and crew chief Mark Parks and all the nights’ winners. The speedway would like to thank all of them for participating. Tyler Bare of Rockbridge Baths, VA took the lead from Jared Powell on lap 5. Once out front Bare ran a flawless race and led the remaining 20 laps uncontested on way to his second win of the season. It took two tries to get the feature started and once under green Powell took the lead out of turn 2 with Bare in tow. On lap 4 Bare began looking inside Powell for the lead and got an opening out of turn 4. Once out front Bare pulled away as Powell worked to hold off point leader Bobby Thompson to hold on to second followed by Thompson, Davis Lipscombe and Jimmy Duncan. Matt Marshall of Stuarts Draft, VA inherited the lead on lap 14 when Brian Maxey and Matt Quade got together racing for the lead in turn 2 ending Maxey’s night and sending Qaude to the rear after repairs. Once under green Marshall pulled away from the pack on way to take his second win of the season. Behind him Matt Quade took second at the checkers with an inside pass on Joey Polevoy with Francis Jarrelle III and Josh Harris rounding out the top five. Brett Adkins of Gloucester, VA took the lead on lap 2 of the caution filled Truckin Thunder Sportsman 25 lap feature. Adkins only had to survive multiple restarts on way to dominating the event on way to his fifth win of the season. Rounding out the top five were Hunter Shelton, Timmy Brann, Junior Carter and James Snead. Stephen Childress of St. Stephens Church, VA held off several furious challenges by Ben Lowry to lead the final six laps of the Collision One Limited Stock Car 20 lap to pick up his third win of the season. Andrew Tarbox led the first 11 laps before going for a spin after contact with Childress out of turn 2. Childress would inherit the lead for the restart. Over the remaining 9 laps Childress held off several challenges for the lead from Lowry the last coming on the final turn when the two touched and raced side by side to the checkers. Childress would get the win followed by Lowry, Brandon Sandridge, Ryan Hutchens and Brian Bradley. The speedway will take next weekend off due to the NASCAR races at Richmond International Raceway and return to racing on Saturday September 13th for Safety-Kleen Championship Night presented by WIGO. Speedway to Host VA National Guard “Salute to the Fallen” Tribute Night this Saturday

Jamaica, VA – Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor will return to racing this Saturday August 30th for VA Army National Guard “Salute to the Fallen” Tribute Night. The night will feature the Victory Lap Late Model, Aaron’s Pro Late Model, Truckin Thunder Sportsman, Budweiser Modified and Collision One Limited Stock Car divisions in action. To honor our military the speedway will admit all military personnel active or retired with proper ID in free. The night’s events will honor the ten Virginia Army National Guard soldiers lost in combat. The Virginia Army National Guard will have several displays of which will include a special wrapped race car, designed by high school students, honoring those lost in combat. A pit crew challenge will also be on hand for fans to test their tire changing skills. With only two points races left before crowning the 2014 champions this weeks racing will be crucial to the drivers still in contention for the titles. Competitor gates for Saturday August 30th will open at 4pm with spectator gates opening at 5pm. On track activities will begin at 6:30pm with hot laps and features will start at 8pm. Divisions scheduled to race on Saturday: Victory Lap Late Models (30 Laps); Aaron’s Pro Late Models (25 Laps); Budweiser Modifieds (25 Laps); Truckin Thunder Sportsman (25 laps) and the Collision One Limited Stock Cars (20 laps). All divisions will run Hot Lap Time Trials and Features. Admission price for Adults $12, seniors (60+) $10; military (active/retired w/ proper I.D.) Justin Williams scores eighth Late Model victory; Adkins gets fifth win; Powell, Polevoy and Hutchens all take first victories of the season

Jamaica, VA – What looked to be a race long battle in the Victory Lap Late Model feature between Billy Hubbard of Gloucester, VA and Justin Williams of Shipman, VA turned into a runaway win by Williams when Hubbard broke on lap 17 while leading. Williams would cruise to his eighth win of the season at Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway. In other action Jared Powell (Aaron’s Pro Late Model), Joey Polevoy (Budweiser Modified), Brett Adkins (Truckin Thunder Sportsman) and Hutchens (Collision One Limited Stock Car) all picked up wins. Anthony Kincaid and Billy Hubbard led the Victory Lap Late Model field to green for their 30 lap feature with Hubbard rocketing to the lead followed by Justin Williams who started sixth. Tucker and Williams were both on a rail with Williams looking to the outside for the lead. On lap 12 Hubbard bobbled in turn 2 but Williams had to check up so he wouldn’t run Hubbard over. For the next five laps the two battled for the top spot until Hubbard broke in turn 2 handing the lead to Williams. Williams would go unchallenged the rest of the way to take his eighth win of the season. Billy Tucker, John Staton, Buck Roadcap and Stephen Childress followed to the checkers. Jared Powell led all but the final two laps of the Aaron’s Pro Late Model feature and looked to have finished second to Daniel Baggerly. That was until Baggerly’s car came up two pounds light at the scales handing the win to Powell. It was Powell’s first win of the season. It took a couple of starts to get the Pro Late Model feature under green but once it did Powell took control of the top spot. For the next 14 laps Thompson tried every possible way around to Powell for the lead. On lap 15 Daniel Baggerly took over second and reeled in the leader. Baggerly went to work on Powell, working both high and low. As the two came out of four to the white flag Baggerly took over the top spot and held on to what looked like the win. At the scales Baggerly’s car came up light awarding the win to Powell. Mark Parks, Bobby Thompson, Tyler Bare and Jimmy Duncan rounded out the top five. Joey Polevoy used a front row starting position to take control of the lead and go on to take his first win of the season. Polevoy and Lance Grady led the field to green with Polevoy rocketing to the top spot. Brian Maxey followed Poelvoy to take second. Maxey tried several times to get under Polevoy but each time was turned away. A late caution with three to go gave Maxey one last chance but Polevoy was able to hold on for the victory. Maxey, Grady, Francis Jarrelle III and Brandon Galloway rounded out the top five. In the Truckin Thunder Sportsman Davey Pullen and Brett Adkins led the field to green with Adkins grabbing the lead out of turn 2. Once out front Adkins pulled away from the rest of the field. Behind the leader they battled for second. Pullen, Matt Ashworth, Jeremiah Marshall and Junior Carter all worked to take over the runner up spot. No one had anything for Adkins as he cruised to his fifth win of the season. Pullen, Carter, Hunter Shelton and Marshall rounded out the top five. Ryan Hutchens took the lead in the Collision One Limited Stock Car 20 lap feature with two to go and then hold off everyone off on the final restart to take home his career first victory. Andrew Tarbox and Brian Bradley led the field to green with Bradley taking the lead out of turn 2. Bradley held off challenges from several drivers until lap 18 when seventh starting Hutchens drove under him on lap 17 to take the lead. On the next lap a caution would close the field on his bumper for a green, white checker finish. On the restart Hutchens pulled away to get his career first win. Stephen Childress, Brandon Sandridge, Bradley and Chad Champion were the balance of the top five. The speedway will take next weekend off and return to racing on Saturday August 30th for VA Army National Guard “Salute to the Fallen” Tribute Night. Speedway returns to action this Saturday August 16th; Point Battles Heating Up

Jamaica, VA – Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor The speedway will be in action this Saturday August 16th to host Virginia Army National Guard Dirt Series “Dirt Track” Saturday Night. The evening will feature the Victory Lap Late Model, Aaron’s Pro Late Model, Truckin Thunder Sportsman, Budweiser Modified and Collision One Limited Stock Car divisions in Virginia National Guard Dirt Series action. Heading into the last few weeks of racing the championship point battles are heating up. In the Victory Lap Late Models Justin Williams continues atop the standings. Williams rebounded from a disappointing first race in last week’s twins to win the second feature for his seventh overall victory. Victory Lap Late Model top 5: Justin Williams – 1103; John Staton – 1057; Anthony Kincaid – 978; Stephen Childress – 975; Petie Coffey – 966. Since Bobby Thomson took over the points lead in the Aaron’s Pro Late Model division he has never looked back. Held out of victory lane in last weeks twin features Thompson still holds a 57 point lead over Davis Lipscombe with four races to go. Last week was an interesting week in the Truckin Thunder Sportsman division as defending champion Brett Adkins continued his resurgence from a poor start to the season with his third win of the season and Matt Ashworth picked up his career first win. Sitting just 14 points back in second Jeremiah Marshall will try to gain on Adkins heading into the final four races of the season.
