Virginia Motor Speedway to open 2012 season with “Test and Tune” Open Practice; Commonwealth 100 Advance Tickets Still on Sale

Jamaica, VA – Competitors at Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway will get the chance to dial in their rides for the 2012 season on Saturday March 31st as the speedway will hold a “Test & Tune” open practices for all divisions. Gates will open at 9am for competitors with on track action to begin at 11:30am. Fans are invited to come out and watch open practice to see all the new cars and paint schemes. There will be no charge for grandstand admission for open practice. Anyone wanting to visit the pits will be required to buy a pit pass. Pit passes will be $20 per person. All cars must be inspected before they will be allowed to practice. Registrations are currently being accepted with all numbers being given out on a first come first served basis. Competitors can obtain a 2012 registration form by going to the tracks website or by calling the speedway Monday through Friday 10am through 3pm at (804) 758-1867. — LUCAS OIL LATE MODELS TO OPEN 2012 SEASON: The 2012 season will once again kick off in a huge way on April 13 – 14, 2012 when the Speedway swings open the gates for its 43rd season with the running of the third annual $25,000 to win Commonwealth 100. This year’s edition will have a new twist as the Lucas Oil Late Model series will now sanction the event. The weekend will also include a $3000 to win non-qualifiers race. 2012 RULES FOR ALL DIVISIONS HAVE BEEN UPDATED

Jamaica, VA – The 2012 rules packages for all four of our weekly divisions have been updated and posted under the Drivers tab, then under Forms and Rules. It is the competitors responsibility to download both the General Rules and the rules associated with their particular division they will be running during the 2012 season. Attention Late Model and Sportsman drivers – There will be a change in the tire rule once we get the final information from Hoosier Tire. They are discontinuing several tire compounds and in the process we will have to change our tire offerings for 2012 and beyond. Adams, Traylor, Arnold and Givens crowned Champions at Virginia Motor Speedway; Traylor crowned VA Army National Guard Dirt Series Champion

Jamaica, VA – Bill Sawyers Virginia Motor Speedway wrapped up the 2011 season by recognizing the top ten in each of the track’s divisions with special attention reserved for the 2011 champions. During the night’s events almost $34,000 in cash and prizes were awarded, of that almost $28,000 was in cash. This year’s championships saw two familiar faces and two drivers picking up career first championships. Scott Adams of Chester, VA was crowned the Victory Lap Late Model Champion for the second consecutive year and received a check for $5,000 for his efforts. Adams also received an invitation to the Rocket Chassis Race Wise Chassis School, a $500 certificate from the Joie of Seating, a custom calendar from Al Goulder Photography and his Championship helmet trophy and jacket. This year’s $25,000 to win Commonwealth 100 will be sanctioned by the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series and will run April 13-14, 2012 with a Sunday April 15th rain date. The Ultimate Super Late Model Series is scheduled to return on Saturday May 19th for a $10,000 to win event and the 2012 season ender will be the 33rd Annual USA 100 that will now pay $20,000 to win an become a two day show September 14 – 15th, with a Sunday Sept. 16th rain date established. Rain Forces Cancellation of Final Race of the Season

Jamaica, VA – Rain and the forecast for more thunderstorms has forced officials at Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway to cancel Truckin Thunder / Collision One / WIGO Championship Night activities for Saturday, September 24th. “This is not the way we wanted to end the season, but we have run out of weekends for the 2011 season. To say we are disappointed would be an understatement, this is the second time we have had to cancel Championship Night,” commented track General Manager Clarke Sawyer. With the rain out the 2011 Virginia Army National Guard Dirt Series track championships have been decided. In the Victory Lap Late Model division Scott Adams of Chester, VA wins his second consecutive late model title. In the Truckin Thunder Sportsman division Todd Traylor of King William, VA wins his first title. In the Budweiser Modified division Dan Arnold of Petersburg, VA takes home his third consecutive modified title and in the Collision One Limited Stock Cars Wesley Givens of New Kent, VA will get his career first championship by one point. The top ten in each division will be honored at the 2011 Awards Banquet to be held Saturday October 29, 2011 at the Virginia Beach Convention Center in Virginia Beach, VA. On Saturday October 1st The Pit at Virginia Motor Speedway will host the 7th Annual Run-A-Muck Mud Bog and Mud Sling presented by Rappahannock Tractor and the Virginia Army National Guard. Additional sponsorship provided by Davis Off Road, Monster Energy Drinks, NAPA of King William, ORI of Richmond, Collision One and Truckin Thunder. There will be nine classes of “Mud Maniacs” in action ranging from stock to unlimited with cash payouts in all classes. New for this year’s event will be the addition of the Pro Modified class. After discussions with both competitors and fans Pit officials have added the very exciting class to the line up. Rules for the new Pro Modified division are posted on the Pit’s website by next week. Speedway Providing Staging Area for Dominion Virginia Power Repair Crews; This Weekend’s Championship Night Postponed

Jamaica, VA – Virginia Motor Speedway continues in its efforts to help in the recovery process from Hurricane Irene. Currently the speedway grounds are being used as a staging area for Dominion Virginia Power line crews as they help in restoring power to the Middle Peninsula and Northern Neck communities. Some 250 utility trucks are expected to call the pit parking area home until power is restored to the area. “Our resources, equipment and facilities are at the disposal of the local authorities. Our focus since this past weekend’s hurricane has been to help our community in its recovery efforts,” added General Manager Clarke Sawyer. “Whatever we can do to help we will do. We are all in this together and the more we help the quicker everyone will be able to get back to their normal day to day routines,” added Sawyer. Officials have also announced that Truckin Thunder / Collision One / WIGO Championship Night racing activities have been postponed until Saturday, September 24th. On that night the 2011 Championships will be decided. “With so many of our fans and competitors without power we felt it was in everyone’s best interest that we move our last weekly event so that everyone can take care of their families and property,” stated Track Owner Bill Sawyer. “With the continued State of Emergency issued by Governor Bob McDonald and with the fire and police personnel stretched to capacity this is the best decision for all,” added Sawyer. With the postponement of Championship Night the next event for Virginia Motor Speedway will be Saturday Sept. 17th for the $15,000 to win 32nd Annual USA 100 sanctioned by the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series.
