Jamaica, VA – Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway returns to action Saturday June 11th and will host NAPA of Saluda Night featuring four divisions of Virginia Army National Guard Dirt Series action. See the Victory Lap Late Model, Truckin Thunder Sportsman, Budweiser Modifies and the Collision One Limited Stock divisions. Come experience the raw, pure excitement that is dirt racing! Get here early to sign up for free giveaways courtesy of NAPA of Saluda. Competitor gates for Saturday, June 11th will open at 4pm with spectator gates opening at 5pm. On track activities will begin at 6:30pm with hot laps. Divisions scheduled to race on Saturday: Victory Lap Late Models (35 Laps); Budweiser Modifieds (25 Laps); Truckin Thunder Sportsman (25 laps) and the Collision One Limited Stock Cars (20 laps). All divisions will run Hot Lap Time Trials and Features. Admission price for Adults $10, Seniors (60+) $8, Military $5, Students 13 – 17 years old $7, Children 7 – 12 years old $4 and Children 6 and under admitted free. Tim Shelton Scores First Ever Victory in Late Model action at Virginia Motor Speedway; Barrick and Childress also first time winners while Enders gets second career win

Jamaica, VA – Mother Nature tired to put a damper on Armed Forces Appreciation Night at Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway but track officials had other ideas getting the track in racing condition with the help of the competitors on hand. Once racing got under way the action got intense on a night that saw three first time winners. In the Victory Lap Late Model 35 lap feature Tim Shelton of Fredericksburg, VA led every lap but it didn’t come easy as Scott Adams, David Williams and Derick Quade all took shots at Shelton for the lead. On lap 6 Williams worked high and low trying to find a way around Shelton. Several times over the next few laps Williams would get a fender inside Shelton but could never make the pass. Shelton would be able to get some breathing room as Adams went to work on Williams for the runner up spot. Williams would jump the cushion in turn 3 on lap 16 allowing Adams to take over the second spot. With the laps winding down Shelton held the top spot while Adams battled Derick Quade for second. With the battle behind him Shelton would go on to record his first ever win in the very competitive Victory Lap Late Models. “This is awesome, we have worked really hard to get to this point and to get a win in this very competitive division,” commented Shelton in victory lane. Rounding out the top five were Scott Adams, Derick Quade, David Williams and John Staton. In other action Curtis Barricks of Chesterfield, VA led every lap of the Budwesier Modified 25 lap feature to record his first ever victory in eight years of racing at Virginia Motor Speedway. The win didn’t come without a challenge as Josh Harris of Gloucester, VA made several attempts to take away the top spot without success. Harris would finish second followed by Lance Grady, Page Harrison and Dan Arnold. In the Truckin Thunder Sportsman 25 lap feature Tony Woods and Roy Skaggs would lead the field to green with Woods leading the first circuit. On lap 3 Stephen Childress and Todd Traylor would get past Skaggs for second and third respectfully. On lap 6 Childress would get inside Woods in turn 4 and take the lead at the line by inches. Once out front Childress began to build a comfortable lead. Woods would make several late race attempts at taking back the top spot but to no avail. The races final caution came out on lap 22 setting up a three lap dash for the cash of which Childress was up for the challenge as he went on to record his first ever victory in the Truckin Thunder Sportsman division. Wood, Traylor, Roger Jamerson and Michael Roop rounded out the top five. In the Collision One 20 lap nightcap Brandon Sandridge and Chad champion led the field to green. Sandridge would briefly take the lead but would jump the cushion in turn 3 allowing Champion to get by and lead the first circuit. Champion’s lead was short lived as on the next lap Joe Ender would get inside Champion in turn 4 to take over the top spot. Ender would quickly get company and Brett Adkins and Ryan Toole pulled up on his back bumper trying to force an error on Enders part. With battles all over the track all eyes seemed focused on the top spot as Adkns began to pressure Ender of the lead. Adkins made several attempts for the lead and each time Ender held him off. The last attempt came on the final lap as Adkins looked to have a good run off turn 4 to get inside Enders only to have Enders hold on to the victory. rounding out the top five were Adkins, Toole, Wesley Givens and Ricky Douglas. Virginia Motor Speedway to host Armed Forces Appreciation Night Saturday May 28th

Jamaica, VA – Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway returns to action Saturday May 28th and will host Armed Forces Appreciation Night featuring four divisions of Virginia Army National Guard Dirt Series action. The night will honor those that serve or have served our country and their dependents. All active, retired, Guard or Reserve personnel and their dependents will be admitted for $5 with proper military I.D. The savings at the front gate for our military will not end there as the speedway will continue to honor the $5 price for all military active or retired the remainder of the season. “Our military personnel are near and dear to our hearts, we truly appreciate their sacrifice and want to honor them and give back to them in some way,” commented Track Owner Bill Sawyer. Derrick Quade Picks Up First Late Model Victory at Virginia Motor Speedway; Maxey, Traylor and Toole also pick up wins

Jamaica, VA – It looked like having the lead in the Victory Lap Late Model 35 lap feature at Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway spelled disaster for anyone that had lead. David Williams, Davis Lipscombe and Matt Marshall all held the lead only to have mechanical issues. But once Derick Quade took over the lead on lap 28 he wasn’t going to let anything take away a shot at victory. The six place starting Quade had worked extremely hard to get to the front and was pressuring marshall for the lead when Marshall spun in front of him on lap 28. The victory wouldn’t come easy as he had to hold off the track’s defending champion Scott Adams of Chester, VA in the waning laps to take his victory at Virginia Motor Speedway....

Virginia Motor Speedway Releases 2011 Schedule

Jamaica, VA – The tentative 2011 schedule for Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway has been released and includes 12 weeks of Virginia Army National Guard Dirt Series action and will open with the World of Outlaws sanctioned $25,000 to win Commonwealth 100 April 15 – 16, 2010 and end with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series sanctioned $15,000 to win 32nd Annual USA 100. Williams Dominates on Way to Victory Lap Late Model Win; Arnold, Wood and Givens also winners

Jamaica, VA – The beginning of the Victory Lap Late Model feature at Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway began with a lot of promise as Stevie Long of Mechanicsville, MD and David Williams of Avenue, MD began a side by side battle for the lead that had the crowd on it’s feet. But good things sometimes come to an end way too soon. Long and Davis Lipscombe led the stout field to green with Long leading the first circuit with Williams right on his bumper. Williams would jump to the inside of Long in turn 1 as the two raced door to door with Williams nipping Long at the line for the lead on lap 3. Long would battle back on the outside and would take the lead back by inches on the next circuit. The two raced side by side over the next three laps before the races first and only caution of the night would come out for a two car spin in turn 2. While under caution Long’s car would come to a stop in turn 4 and would need assistance getting to pit road handing the lead to Williams. Long’s promising night would come to an end as he was unable to get back on the track. On the restart Williams pulled away from Davis Lipscombe and the rest of the field. The closest Limpscombe would get would be on lap 20 as the two worked traffic but it was all Williams as he cruised to the win in convincing style. “I hated to see Stevie (Long) fall out of the race, it was a blast racing him for the lead and I think the fans would have seen a lot more of the same side by side racing if he would have not broke,” commented Williams in victory lane. Rounding out the top five were Davis Lipscombe, Sommey Lacey, Matt Marshall and Scott Adams. In other action Tony Wood of New Kent, VA would hold off Roger Jamerson of Mechanicsville, VA on the final lap to pick up his first win of 2010 in the Truckin Thunder Sportsman division. In the Budweiser Modifieds Dan Arnold of Petersburg, VA would hold off Brian Maxey of King George, VA for the win and in the Collision One Limited Stock division James Givens of New Kent, VA picked up the victory....

Speedway to Host Kids in Uniform Night Saturday August 7th; Championship Point Battles Tight

Jamaica, VA – After taking a week off Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway will return to racing on Saturday August 7th to host Truckin Thunder, Collision One, WNNT, WRAR Kids in Uniform Night presented by Amerigas. All kids in a baseball, softball, soccer, Boy Scout or Girl Scout uniform will be admitted free. It will be a night of exciting racing so bring the whole team or group. The night’s activities will include the Victory Lap Late Models, Truckin Thunder Sportsman, Budweiser Modifieds and the Collision One Limited Stock Cars in action....
