Rescheduled Truckin Thunder / Northern Neck Chevrolet Scout Night Set for this Saturday June 11th

Jamaica, VA – This Saturday June 11th Virginia Motor Speedway will host the rescheduled Truckin Thunder / Northern Neck Chevrolet Scout Night. As part of the night’s festivities the track will also host the 5th Annual Dirtwood Nationals Pinewood Derby that is open to scouts, fans and competitors. Gates will open at 5pm with registration for the Dirtwood National Pinewood Derby starting at 5:30pm. After the Dirtwood Nationals all Scouts (Boy Scouts, Cub Scouts and Girl Scouts) if wearing their uniform, will get free admission to enjoy a night of full sized dirt car racing. During the evenings festivities the Speedway will also help in raising money and awareness for the charity ChildHelp®. There will be two divisions for the Dirtwood Nationals, Scouts and. A champion will be crowned in each division and then there will be a run-off to see who will be the overall Dirtwood Nationals Pinewood Derby Champion. Standard Scouting pinewood derby rules will govern the races. For anyone wanting to participate but not having a pinewood derby car, a limited quantity will be available for rent for a $10 donation to ChildHelp. Mother Nature Causes Postponement of $20,000 to win Aaron’s USA 100 till August 6

Jamaica, Virginia (June 4, 2016) – Once again Mother Nature has caused a race at Virginia Motor Speedway to be canceled. After extensive discussion and study of weather forecasts for the area, officials of Virginia Motor Speedway have reluctantly decided to cancel Saturday’s $20,000 to win Aaron’s USA 100 and reschedule it for Saturday August 6, 2016. “In the 40 years I have been involved in racing I have never seen anything like this, we just can’t catch a break with the weather.” said Virginia Motor owner Bill Sawyer. Sawyer added, “With the forecast calling for more storms this afternoon and night after what was a deluge of rain overnight that soaked the grounds, we felt it in the best interest of our fans, competitors and our great sponsors Aaron’s and Commonwealth Motorsports to make the call earlier than later.” The 40th Aaron’s USA 100 presented by Commonwealth Motorsports will now be the final race of the Colonial Clash Championship presented by Dirt Nation on August 6. Weather also postponed the Potomac Speedway show on Friday June 3 and Winchester Speedway has been forced to postpone their event as well to a terrible forecast for Sunday June 5. The Potomac Speedway event will be reschedule for Saturday July 2 and Winchester the following night Sunday July 3. Winchester Speedway has graciously given their Super Late Models off for the August 6th USA 100 make-up date. “We have to thank Greg Gunter and Denise Hollidge for giving their top division off on our reschedule date; their cooperation is greatly appreciated,” added Sawyer. Speedway to host the 40th Annual Aaron’s USA 100 Saturday June 4th; Race 3 of the Colonial Clash Championship

Jamaica, VA – When the Ultimate Super Late Model Series visits Virginia Motor Speedway on Saturday June 4th for the $20,000 to win 40th Annual Aaron’s USA 100 presented by Commonwealth Motorsports several things will have changed dramatically for the storied event. In 2015 the event paid $10,000 to win and then at the start of the 2016 season track owner Bill Sawyer announced that the race would get a purse increase to $15,000 to win. But with the loss of the April 9th King of the Commonwealth Sawyer is bringing the $20,000 to win purse and sponsor over to the USA 100. “When we lost the April 9th King of the Commonwealth to of all things snow and cold weather, I decided we needed to make sure we took care of our sponsor Aaron’s as well as create some excitement for the USA 100, so we moved them and the $20,000 to win purse over to the USA 100,” commented track owner Bill Sawyer. Sawyer added, “With the event being the third race of the Colonial Clash Championship this should add even more excitement to what is already expected to be a phenomenal four night’s of racing.” The new Colonial Clash Championship will see the Ultimate Super Late Model Series competitors along with many of the Mid-Atlantics premier talent competing at four different tracks in four nights. MAY 21 MUD BOG CANCELED

Jamaica, VA – Due to the forecast for Saturday May 21st officials of The Pit at Virginia Motor Speedway have canceled the 9th Annual Down & Dirty Mud Mayhem presented by James River Equipment and Commonwealth Motorsports. With 100% chance of heavy rains forecast and the low pressure system sitting directly over Virginia, officials determined that for the safety of competitors and fans alike it was best to cancel the event. “Words can not describe how disappointed we are with having to cancel tomorrow’s event, the facility was prepped and ready for what we felt was going to be a record breaking day. The safety of our competitors and fans is the most important aspect of what we do here at Virginia Motor Speedway,” commented track General Manager Clarke Sawyer. There is no reschedule date at this time....

Mother Nature Takes Fourth Race of the Season

Jamaica, VA – Mother Nature has been relentless when it comes to racing At Virginia Motor Speedway as rain takes the fourth race of the season forcing officials to cancel activities for Truckin Thunder / Northern Neck Chevrolet Scout Night. “This is so frustrating , we tried to wait this one out but with continued rain for the next two hours and wind gusts of up to 40 miles an hour we are forced to cancel for the fourth time this season”, commented track General Manager Clarke Sawyer. Anyone with “Free Admission Tickets” for May 21 can utilize them on the rescheduled date of June 11. The WILL NOT be good for the May 21 or June 4 events. Next Saturday May 21 the speedway will move over to the mud bog facility to host the first of two big Mud Bog events for the 2016 season as The Pit at Virginia Motor Speedway hosts the 9th Annual Down & Dirty Mud Mayhem presented by James River Equipment and Commonwealth Motorsports. Additional sponsorship provided by Aaron’s, Atkins Propane and Petroleum, After Hours Fabrication, Collision One and Truckin Thunder. There will be seven classes of “Mud Maniacs” in action ranging from Super Stock to Unlimited X Tractor with cash payouts in all classes. Davis Lipscombe Takes Opening Night Checkers in Victory Lap Pro Late Models; Ashworth, Maxey and Hutchens Also Grab Wins

Jamaica, VA – A sunny day turned into a brisk evening of racing at Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway for WRAR / WNNT Night. But after two rainouts fans and competitors alike were excited to get the 2016 season underway. Davis Lipscombe of Mechanicsville, VA started his season off right with an impressive victory in the Victory Lap Pro Late Models. Lipscombe led flag to flag for the win but it didn’t come easy. Over the last half of the race Lipscombe had to hold off Walker Arthur for the Victory. In other action Brian Maxey of King George, VA would set a new Budweiser Modified track record and then go on to dominate the 25 feature for the win. In the Truckin Thunder Sportsman Matt Ashworth of Mechanicsville, VA would take the lead on lap 3 of the 25 lap feature and never look back to take the win and in the Collision One Limited Stock Car 20 lap feature defending champion Ryan Hutchens of Providence Forge, VA would take the lead on lap 4 and go on to grab the win. In the Victory Lap Pro Late Models defending champion Tyler Bare of Rockbridge Baths, VA set a new division track record. Walker Arthur and Davis Lipscombe led the Victory Lap Pro Late Model to the green with Lipscombe grabbing the lead from the outside. A caution came out just as the top four cars crossed the line that saw five cars get together in turn 4 sending Mike Warton for a complete flip. All drivers were ok. On the restart Lipscombe had to keep Walker Arthur and Tyler Bare at bay. Several times both drivers to a shot at the lead. On lap 21 defending champion Bare’s night would end due to mechanical failure. From then on the best battle of the night may have been between Arthur and Justin Williams as the two battled side by side for much of the remainder of the feature for second. With everyone battling behind him Lipscombe went on to score a comfortable victory. Arthur, Williams, Eddie Groome and Stephen Childress rounded out the top five. Tim Shulte and Francis Jarrelle III led the field to green with Jarelle leading the first circuit as he went three wide out of turn four with Brian Maxey and Shulte. On the next lap Maxey would get under Jarrelle out of four to take the lead. Once out front maxey set a blistering pace on way to the win. Polevoy, Jarrelle, Jeff Solinger and Stephen Quade rounded out the top five. Michael Hayes and Tommy Upshaw led the Truckin Thunder field to green with Upshaw jumping out to the lead. On the next lap Matt Ashworth dove under Upshaw out of turn two to take the lead. Ashworth kept the field at bay to score the win. Defending champion Chad Beahr, Upshaw, Roger Jamerson and rookie Kacey Gordon rounded out the top five. In the Collision One Limited Stock 20 lap feature Chad Champion and David Bowler led the field to green with Champion grabbing the lead out of turn 2. On lap 3 defending champion Ryan Hutchens would grab the lead out of turn four to grab the lead at the line. Hutchens would have Champion, James Givens and Brian Bradley all within striking distance but Hutchens worked lapped traffic to perfection and go on to the win. Chad Champion, Brian Bradley, Cory Bradley and David Bowler rounded out the top five. Aaron’s King of the Commonwealth Canceled amid Extreme Weather Forecast

Jamaica, Virginia (April 6, 2016) – After extensive discussion and study of weather forecasts for the area, officials of Virginia Motor Speedway have reluctantly decided to cancel Saturday’s $20,000 to win Aaron’s King of the Commonwealth. The National Weather Service is forecasting temps well below freezing for Saturday along with 20 MPH winds. There is also a high percentage of precipitation forecasted which would make preparing the track for the event difficult if not impossible. Without a suitable make-up date the event will be postponed until 2017. However the Aaron’s title sponsorship and the $20,000 to win purse will be transferred to the USA 100 which is scheduled on Saturday, June 4th. “This is obviously not what we wanted to happen with this event. We have poured a lot of time, effort and resources into making the Aaron’s King of the Commonwealth a success. But the weather forecast is just ominous. We were hoping that it would improve but those cold temps and wind coupled with the precipitation that we will surely get and there is just no way that we could expect people to be here and be able to enjoy the event.
