Jamaica, VA – Virginia Motor Speedway will return to racing Saturday, July 23rd, and host week 6 of Dirt Series Championship weekly racing. The night will feature the Victory Lap Pro Late Model, Truckin Thunder Sportsman, Budweiser Modified, and Collision One Limited Stock Car divisions in some exciting side-by-side action. On Saturday, July 23rd, competitor gates will open at 3 PM, with spectator gates opening at 5 PM. On-track activities will begin at 5:45 PM for hot laps. Features will start at 7 PM. MOTHER NATURE WINS AGAIN; SPEEDWAY CANCELS RACING FOR SATURDAY, JULY 9

Jamaica, VA – With the high chance of rain and thunderstorms on Saturday, July 9, speedway management has decided to cancel racing activities for Saturday, July 9. “We hate having to cancel any event, but with the weather services calling for 80 – 99% chance of rain, we feel it best to go ahead and cancel racing for Saturday, July 9,” commented track owner Bill Sawyer. “With the continued high gas prices, we just can’t put our fans and competitors in a position to spend money unnecessarily.” The Speedway will return to racing Saturday, July 23, to host week 6 of Dirt Series Championship weekly racing. Jamaica, VA – The 2022 driver registration and driver information sheets are now updated on the website. 2020 registrations are now being accepted. Please make sure you send in all three forms when registering, as it will speed up the process on opening night April 9. You will need to fill out a Driver Registration, Driver Information Sheet, and W9. Hoosier’s National Tire Shortage Forces Cancellation of This Weekend’s Prelude to the World Championship

Jamaica, Virginia – The current Hoosier tire shortage has forced officials at Virginia Motor Speedway and FASTRAK Racing to cancel this weekend’s Prelude to the World Championship event. After exhausting all avenues available to get enough FT200 and FT400 compounds to cover the number of cars expected to contend for the $3000 top prize, the difficult decision was to cancel the event for 2021. “We have been in conversations with Hoosier Tire for several weeks now about the number of tires available as it is not only affecting this FASTRAK tour event but also our weekly racing,” commented Virginia Motor owner Bill Sawyer. Sawyer added, “unfortunately, there are just not enough tires available for not only the Pro Late Models but also for two of our weekly divisions; there is just no way to get the tires manufactured in time for the event.” This cancellation comes on the heels of the track’s 45th annual USA 100 falling to rain. The cancellation will also affect the three weekly divisions scheduled to compete as support divisions to the FASTRAK Touring Series. “I support Bill and Virginia Motor Speedway’s decisions on this,” commented FASTRAK Racing Owner/Founder Stan Lester. “No different than our Charlotte event when we had to cancel it. That difficult decision made sure that our weekly tracks had tires. Even though many of our tour events have been canceled, it’s the responsibility of the series to ensure that our weekly tracks can race first, then the tour afterward. Hopefully, this move will ensure we have plenty of tires for the World Championship,” added Lester. Justin Williams Scores the Win in Pro Late Models; Lipscombe and Maxey Continue winning Ways, and Butler Scores Emotional first win of 2021

Jamaica, VA – Justin Williams of Concord, VA, returned to his winning ways picking up the Victory Lap Pro Late Model victory after a spirited battle with Nick Love of Hughesville, MD. Williams would grab the lead on lap 20 and go on to his second win of 2021. “I love it when this track gets slicked over like it did tonight; we tried a couple of new things to the car, and they allowed the car to go anywhere on the track,” commented Williams in WhosYourDriver.org victory lane. Williams started fifth in the thirty-lap feature, working his way to the front methodically. By lap 6, Williams was in second and closing on Love. On lap 18, Williams had closed within 2-car lengths, and on the following lap, made his move for the top spot. Williams would try the outside of Love in turn 2 only Love to hold the spot, but as the two raced into turn 3, Williams shot to Love’s inside and grab the lead at the line. Once out front, Williams pulled away as Love, Matt Quade, and fast qualifier Jeremy Pilkerton battled over the second spot. Rounding out the top five were Matt Quade, Nick Love, Jeremy Pilkerton, and Joey Love. In other action, Davis Lipscombe of Mechanicsville, VA, collected his third Truckin Thunder Sportsman win of the season. Lipscombe grab the lead from Matt Meads on lap 7 and held off a couple of challenges from Kacey Gordon to score the victory. Rounding out the top five were Tyler Shipp, Matt Ashworth, Matt Meads, and Michael Hayes. In the Budweiser Modified feature, Chase Butler of Mechanicsville, VA, scored an emotional win by holding off both Josh Harris and Lance Grady for the win. Butler was racing with a heavy heart with the passing of his engine builder Mark Batten the night before. Butler would grab the lead from Grady on lap 4 but would have to hold off several challenges by Grady and Harris over the closing laps to score his first win of 2021. Rounding out the top five were Josh Harris, Lance Grady, Brandon Galloway, and Brent Bordeaux. And in the Collision One Limited Stock Car feature, Brian Maxey of King George, VA took the lead from James Givens on lap 7 and scored his third win in a row in a caution-filled feature. Rounding out the top five were James Givens, Ryan Hutchens, jay Seward, and Jacob Buie.
