Speedway to host the 40th Annual Aaron’s USA 100 This Saturday August 6th; Final Race of the Colonial Clash Championship

Jamaica, VA – After a two month wait the stars are cars of the Ultimate Super Late Model Series will finally get the green flag for the $20,000 to win 40th Annual Aaron’s USA 100 presented by Commonwealth Motorsports and what will be a phenomenal night of racing at Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway this Saturday August 6th. Mother Nature caused the rescheduling of the event from its original scheduled date of June 4th with some pretty nasty weather. Officials of both the speedway and the series worked diligently to reschedule the USA 100 and now the time has come to see who can take home the $20,000 winners check, the “famous” eagle trophy and also see who will be crowned the inaugural Colonial Clash Championship presented by Dirt Nation Champion. Ernie Shelton’s USA 100 is now the final event of the four race mini-series the Colonial Clash Championship. The previous events were held at Georgetown Speedway in Georgetown, DE, Potomac Speedway in Budds Creek, MD Winchester Speedway in Winchester, VA. The Colonial Clash Championship boasts a $17,000 point fund with $5000 going to the champion. The point fund pays the top 15 drivers as long as they have attempted all four events. This year’s format for the Aaron’s USA 100 presented by Commonwealth Motorsports will be practice, qualifying, 10 lap heats, 10 lap B-Main(s) and the 60 lap $20,000 to win feature. Format for the $3000 to win FASTRAK National Tour Event will include practice, qualifying, heats, B-Main(s) and 40 lap feature. All three track divisions will run hot lap qualifying and features only. Competitor gates for Saturday August 6th will open at 3pm with spectator gates opening at 4pm. Mother Nature Continues to Plague Speedway; Track Suffers Sixth Rain Out of Season

Jamaica, VA – Mother Nature will just not let up. With the facility ready for a night of racing the storms moved in with heavy rains and lightning forcing officials at Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway to cancel racing activities for Xtra 99.1 | MetroCast Business Services Night on Saturday July 30, 2016. It is the sixth rain out of the 2016 season. The Speedway will now switch gears and get ready for Ernie Shelton’s 40th Annual Aaron’s USA 100 presented by Commonwealth Motorsports. The event will feature the Ultimate Super Late Model Series competitors in a 60 lap feature paying $20,000 to win. The event will also include a $3000 to win, 40 lap FASTRAK National Tour event for Pro Late Model drivers as well as the Trucking Thunder Sportsman, Budweiser Modified and Collision One Limited Stock Cars in Aaron’s Dirt Series Championship weekly action. Some of the best Dirt Super Late Model drivers on the East Coast will be in attendance trying to pick up the huge $20,000 check and take their place in history. MetroCast Night Canceled Due to Rain; Fifth Rain Out of Season

Justin Williams Scores Second Pro Late Model win of Season; Maxey, Adkins and Hutchens also Claim Victories

Jamaica, VA – Justin Williams of Concord, VA is looking like the Justin Williams of old grabbing the lead on lap 9 of the 30 lap Victory Lap Pro Late Model feature and then cruising to his second win of the season. Williams rocketed around the outside of Davis Lipscombe out of turn 4 when Lipscombe opened the door with a bobble. Once out front Williams set sail to grab the win. “I don’t think I have ever had a car handle as good as this car did tonight, I could take it anywhere on the track,” commented Williams in Victory lane. In other action Joey Polevoy of Powhatan, VA claimed his second Budweiser Modified win of the season taking the lead on lap 5 and never looking back. Brett Adkins of Gloucester, VA grabbed the lead on the opening lap and led flag to flag to score his second win of the season and in the Collision One Limited Stocks Ryan Hutchens of Providence Forge, VA rocketed around chad champion on lap 4 to take the lead and hold on for his second win of he season. It took several tries to get the Victory Lap Pro Late Model feature underway but once it did the action up front got three wide. Lipscombe paced the early laps while Stephen Childress, Williams and Tyler bare battled for second. Williams would take over second on lap 4 and then set out to reel in Lipscombe. A bobble on lap 8 out of turn 4 was all the opening Williams needed as he rocketed to the outside to take a lead he would never relinquish. The only close call for Williams came on lap 18 when Williams almost collided with a slower car on the front stretch. Once out front Williams set sail and went on to score his second win of the season. Rounding out the top five were Lipscombe, Bare, Childress and Cody Dawson. In the Truckin Thunder Sportsman 25 lap feature Brett Adkins of Gloucester, VA grab the lead on the drop of the green and never looked back going flag to flag for his second win of the season. Roger Jamerson, Chad Beahr, Joe Weiss and Tommy Upshaw battled for second on back with Jamerson taking second for good on lap 15. Rounding out the rest of the top five were Weiss, Beahr and rookie Chase Butler. In the Budweiser Modified 25 lap feature Joey Polevoy of Powhatan, VA inherited the lead on lap five after leader James Sparks and Matt Quade got together in turn 1 battling for the lead. Once out front Polevoy fended off several attempts by Brian Maxey for the lead and went on to score his second win of the season. Rounding out the top five were Maxey, Qaude, Tim Schulte and Sparks. The Collision One Limited Stock feature is always one of the best races of the night and tonight was no different as Chad Champion of Beaverdam, VA grabbed the lead on the start of the 20 lap affair. Champion would have plenty of company as the top six drivers raced nose to tail. On a lap 4 restart Champion slowed just enough to allow Hutchens to jump to his outside for the lead. Hutchens dodged a close call on lap 16 when a lapped car spun in front of him as he exited turn 2 and went on to score the victory. Rounding out the top five were Marty Coltrain, Cory Bradley, Chad Champion and Brian Bradley. The speedway will return to racing on Saturday July 16th for MetroCast Night and week eight of the Aaron’s Dirt Series Championship season featuring the Victory Lap Late Models, Budweiser Modifieds, Truckin Thunder Sportsman and Collision One Limited Stock Cars in action. Roger Jamerson Holds off Weiss and Adkins for 200th win; Stephen Childress becomes Third winner in Three Races in Pro Late Models; Polevoy and Coltrain Score first Wins of Season

Jamaica, VA – Two story lines were set to play out on Military Appreciation Night at Virginia Motor Speedway but only one happened to play out. One story had Budweiser Modified feature Stephen Quade, set to join the United State Air Force on July 5th, led all but 2 laps of the 25 lap feature to finish second in what was almost a story book ending but that went to Roger Jamerson of Mechanicsville, VA in the Truckin Thunder feature. Jamerson has been chasing the elusive win #200 since the end of 2015. On this night Jamerson’s story book ending came true. Jamerson would grab the lead at the drop of the green flag with Brett Adkins right on his bumper. For the first 10 laps Jamerson and Adkins waged a side-by-side battle for the lead with Jamerson holding on each lap. Behind him Joe Weiss began Adkins began a battle for second with Weiss taking over the spot on lap 11. Over the final 14 laps you could put a blanket over the top three with Jamerson hold off Weiss and Adkins to take his first win of season and his 200th of his career. “This thing started in 1984 for me; I have been racing for a long time but to get the 200th win in a race that competitive makes it even sweeter,” Rounding out the top five were Joe Weiss, Brett Adkins, Chad Beahr and John Nickens. In other action Stephen Childress of St. Stephens Church, VA scored the flag to flag win in a very competitive Victory Lap Pro Late Model feature; Joey Polevoy of Powhatan, VA grab the lead from Stephen Quade of Mechanicsville, MD and went on to score the victory in Budweiser Modified action; and in the Collision One Limited Stocks Marty Coltrain of S. Chesterfield, VA scored a flag to flag victory, his first win in over three years. In the Victory Lap Pro Late Model 30 lap feature Davis Lipscombe and Stephen Childress led the field to green with Lipscombe jumping out to the lead with Childress right on his bumper and the race for third going three wide. On lap 2 restart after a caution Childress jumped to the outside of Lipscombe in turn 3 and grabbed the lead at the line. Once out front Childress pulled away from the battle for second that included Lipscombe, Tyler Bare and Justin Williams. Williams working his way from his sixth starting position first battled with Bare for the third finally taking the spot on lap 20 and then went by Lipscombe on the next lap with a daring pass on the high side out of turn 2. Williams tried to reel in Childress for the lead but Childress ran a flawless final 9 laps to score his first career win in the division. Rounding out the top 5 were Williams, Bare, Lipscombe and Corey Almond. In the Budweiser Modified 25 lap feature Hunter McClendon and Stephen Quade led the field to green with Quade sweeping the outside of turn 2 to lead the first circuit. A couple of cautions slowed the action before heating up between Quade and Brian Maxey. Maxey tried several times to dive under Quade for the lead with Joey Polevoy waiting in the wings. On lap 12 Polevoy drove around the outside of Maxey in turn 3 and 4 to take over the second spot. Polevoy would reel in Quade and the two battled what seemed side by side until lap 22 when Polevoy grab the lead out of turn 4 and go on to take the win. Rounding out the top five were Quade, Maxey, Francis Jarrelle and Hunter McClendon. It was announced in victory lane that Stephen Quade will be joining the United States Air Force on July 5th. In the Truckin Thunder Sportsman 25 lap feature 8-time Champion Roger Jamerson, looking for win 200, grabbed the lead on the drop of the green to lead the first lap. Following along into second was 2-time Champion Brett Adkins as the top two pulled away from the field. On lap 12 the race got interesting as Joe Weiss dove under Adkins to battle for second. After a couple of laps of side-by-side racing Weiss took over the second spot. Weiss would take several shots at Jamerson for the lead only to be turned away. Jamerson would hold on to grab his first victory of the season and his 200th of his career. In the Collision One Limited Stock 20 lap nightcap Marty Colrtrain and James Givens led the field to green with Givens slowing with mechanical issues and Coltrain grabbing the top spot and leading the opening circuit. Several cautions closed the field on Coltrain’s bumper but that was about as close as anyone could get to him during the race. Coltrain would lead flag to flag and pick up his first victory in three years. Rounding out the top five were Chris Champion, Cory Bradley, Brian Bradley and James Bunn. Speedway to Host Military Appreciation Night this Saturday June 25

Jamaica, VA – This Saturday June 25th Virginia Motor Speedway will host Military Appreciation Night with all military personnel (active or retired w/ I.D.) being admitted free (grandstand admission only). Week 7 of the Aaron’s Dirt Series Championship will feature all four of the track’s divisions in action. See the Victory Lap Pro Late Model, Truckin Thunder Sportsman, Budweiser Modified and Collision One Limited Stock Car divisions competing in some exciting side by side action. In week six action Justin Williams of Concord, VA grabbed his first Victory Lap Pro Late Model victory in dominating style. Can he back that performance up this week with another one just like it? In the Budweiser Modified division Brian Maxey of King George, VA claimed his second win in a row and will not be able to start any closer than eighth this week due to the “Two Wins in Row” rule; that same rule will be in affect for defending Collision One Limited Stock Champion Ryan Hutchens of Providence Forge, VA as he also claimed his second win in a row last time out. In the Truckin Thunder Sportsman Brett Adkins of Gloucester, VA scored an impressive victory in the division he dominated for a couple of years before moving up to the Pro Late Model division. Rescheduled Truckin Thunder / Northern Neck Chevrolet Scout Night Set for this Saturday June 11th

Jamaica, VA – This Saturday June 11th Virginia Motor Speedway will host the rescheduled Truckin Thunder / Northern Neck Chevrolet Scout Night. As part of the night’s festivities the track will also host the 5th Annual Dirtwood Nationals Pinewood Derby that is open to scouts, fans and competitors. Gates will open at 5pm with registration for the Dirtwood National Pinewood Derby starting at 5:30pm. After the Dirtwood Nationals all Scouts (Boy Scouts, Cub Scouts and Girl Scouts) if wearing their uniform, will get free admission to enjoy a night of full sized dirt car racing. During the evenings festivities the Speedway will also help in raising money and awareness for the charity ChildHelp®. There will be two divisions for the Dirtwood Nationals, Scouts and. A champion will be crowned in each division and then there will be a run-off to see who will be the overall Dirtwood Nationals Pinewood Derby Champion. Speedway to host the 40th Annual Aaron’s USA 100 Saturday June 4th; Race 3 of the Colonial Clash Championship

Jamaica, VA – When the Ultimate Super Late Model Series visits Virginia Motor Speedway on Saturday June 4th for the $20,000 to win 40th Annual Aaron’s USA 100 presented by Commonwealth Motorsports several things will have changed dramatically for the storied event. In 2015 the event paid $10,000 to win and then at the start of the 2016 season track owner Bill Sawyer announced that the race would get a purse increase to $15,000 to win. But with the loss of the April 9th King of the Commonwealth Sawyer is bringing the $20,000 to win purse and sponsor over to the USA 100. “When we lost the April 9th King of the Commonwealth to of all things snow and cold weather, I decided we needed to make sure we took care of our sponsor Aaron’s as well as create some excitement for the USA 100, so we moved them and the $20,000 to win purse over to the USA 100,” commented track owner Bill Sawyer. Sawyer added, “With the event being the third race of the Colonial Clash Championship this should add even more excitement to what is already expected to be a phenomenal four night’s of racing.” The new Colonial Clash Championship will see the Ultimate Super Late Model Series competitors along with many of the Mid-Atlantics premier talent competing at four different tracks in four nights.
