SPEEDWAY TO HOST HUGE NIGHT OF WEEKLY RACING THIS SATURDAY, JULY 31

Jamaica, VA – Virginia Motor Speedway will return to racing this Saturday, July 31st, and host week 9 of the Dirt Series Championship weekly racing season. The night will feature all four of the speedway’s Dirt Series Championship weekly divisions in action. See the Victory Lap Pro Late Models, Truckin Thunder Sportsman, Budweiser Modified, and Collision One Limited Stock Cars in some exciting side-by-side racing! After a storm washed out three of the scheduled features on July 17th, the speedway will make up those features before going into week 9 action. So you get twice the racing for one low price. The three divisions that will make up their features are the Victory Lap Pro Late Models. Budweiser Modifieds, and the Collision One Limited Stock Cars. You do not want to miss a minute of the action. Spectator gates open at 5 pm, with hot laps beginning at 6 pm and features starting at 7:30 pm. Competitor gates for Saturday, July 31st will open at 3 pm, and spectator gates opening at 5 pm. On-track activities will begin at 6 pm for hot laps, and features will start at 7:30 pm. Saturday, July 17th make up features: Victory Pro Late Models (30 Laps); Budweiser Modifieds (25 Laps); and the Collision One Limited Stock Cars (20 laps). Saturday, July 31st features: Victory Pro Late Models (30 Laps); Budweiser Modifieds (25 Laps); Truckin Thunder Sportsman (25 laps) and the Collision One Limited Stock Cars (20 laps). All divisions will run Hot Lap Time Trials and Features. Admission price for Adults $12, seniors (60+) $10; military (active/retired w/ proper I.D.) $8, students 13 – 17 years old $6 and children 12 and under admitted free. Jamaica, VA – With the speedway’s special events having already been released several weeks ago, Virginia Motor Speedway officials have now released the rest of the 2020 schedule. It will mark the 51st season of action at the ½ mile speed plant in Jamaica, VA. The schedule includes eleven (11) nights of weekly racing action, the return of 410 sprint cars with the April 16th Thursday Night Thunder featuring the All Star Circuit of Champions and Tony Stewart, two Ultimate Super Late Model sanctioned events – the May 30th $20,000 to win King of the Commonwealth and the August 1st $20,000 to win 44th Annual USA 100; the $3000 to win Prelude to the World Championship for FASTRAK Pro Late Models, the return of the history-making $51,000 to win FASTRAK World Championship presented by James River Equipment weekend and two mud bogs at the facilities state-of-the-art 200 mud bog pit. The 2020 season will open on Saturday, April 4th with Dirt Series Championship weekly racing action featuring a full program that will include the Victory Lap Pro Late Model, Truckin Thunder Sportsman, Budweiser Modified, and Collision One Limited Stock, divisions. After a rainout on June 8 Corey Almond of Appomattox, VA holds a 5-point advantage over Justin Williams of Concord, VA in the Victory Lap Pro Late Model points. With the division averaging 26 cars a week, this is the most competitive division at the speedway. In the Budweiser Modified division, there have been three different winners in as many races with defending champion Hunter McClendon of Williamsburg, VA holding a 20-point lead over Lance Grady of Hanover, VA in the race for the championship. The tightest points battle is in the Truckin Thunder Sportsman division where Tyler Shipp of Mechanicsville, VA holds a slim 1-point advantage over defending champion Tim Shelton of Fredericksburg, VA. Weather Forces Speedway To Cancel Racing Activities for Saturday, June 8

Jamaica, VA – After much discussion and thought speedway management has made the decision to cancel racing activities for Saturday, June 8th due to large amounts of rain on Friday the 7th and the probability of rain much of the day in Saturday, June 8th. Rainfall amounts of near 2” is expected today with another ½” expected for Saturday. It is the third rain out of the season. “We have a lot of competitors and fans who travel an enormous amount of highway miles to attend our events,” said track owner Bill Sawyer. “We don’t want anyone to have the burden of making a long trip for nothing.” Sawyer added, “we hate to have to cancel tomorrow’s racing but with the amount of rain we are expecting today into tomorrow we felt it best just to make the call.” Next up for the speedway will be the $20,000 to win 43rd Annual USA 100 on Saturday, June 15th. The Ultimate Super Late Model Series competitors will compete in a 60-lap feature for the $20,000 top prize. There will also be a $3000 to win, 40-lap event for the FASTRAK Racing Series presented by Chevrolet Performance competitors. A Sunday, June 16 rain date has been established should it be needed. Jamaica, VA – Pro Late Model racing’s richest weekend is almost here. The much anticipated FASTRAK World Championship weekend is set for Friday and Saturday September 14 – 15, 2018 at Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway in Jamaica, VA. Track officials are busy preparing the facilities for what is expected to be another record car count. The weekend will put the spotlight squarely on the country’s best Pro Late Model drivers. This mega race will pay the winner a cool $20,000. With a total payout over $80,000, it is the richest weekend in all of Pro Late Model racing. The weekend kicks off with Friday’s FASTRAK World Challenge, a member only $5,000 to win, 40 lap race. Members are required to have competed in at least seven FASTRAK sanctioned events in the 2018 season. The following night is the FASTRAK World Championship presented by James River Equipment, a $20,000 to win 60 lap feature event that is open to all Pro Late Model competitors. In the event of rain, Sunday September 16th is currently scheduled as the rain date. Admission prices for Friday’s World Challenge event are adults $15, senior and military $12, students (11-17) $10 and children 10 and under free. Admission for Saturday’s FASTRAK World Championship are adults $35, senior and military $25, students (11-17) $15 and children 10 and under free. Bring your Friday night ticket stub and receive $5 off your Saturday general admission ticket. Discount is not good for pit passes. Pit passes, regardless of age, are $45 for either a single or two-day pass and will also get you a seat in the grandstands.
