Speedway to Host Joe Hudson’s Collision Center Championship Night Saturday, September 16th

Jamaica, VA – Virginia Motor Speedway will take the next two weekends off, returning to racing on Saturday, September 16th, and host Joe Hudson’s Collision Center Championship Night. It is the final night of Dirt Series Championship weekly racing. The night will feature the Victory Lap Pro Late Model, Truckin Thunder Sportsman, Budweiser Modified, and Collision One Limited Stock Car divisions in some exciting side-by-side action. Champions will be crowned in all four divisions. On Saturday, September 16th, competitor gates will open at 3 PM, with spectator gates opening at 5 PM. On-track activities will begin at 5:45 PM for hot laps. Features will start at 7:30 PM. Divisions scheduled to race on Saturday will be the Victory Pro Late Models (30 Laps), Budweiser Modifieds (25 Laps), Truckin Thunder Sportsman (25 laps), and the Collision One Limited Stock Cars (20 laps). All divisions will run Hot Lap Time Trials and Features. Admission price for adults is $15, seniors (60+) / military (active or retired) $12, students 13 – 17 years old $10, and children 12 and under admitted free. Pit passes will be $25. Billy Hubbard Holds off Davis Lipscombe to Take the Pro Late Model Win; Causey, Butler, and Brooks Also Visit Victory Lane

Jamaica, VA – Billy Hubbard of Cobbs Creek, VA, held off Davis Lipscombe of Mechanicsville, VA, in the Victory Lap Pro Late Model 30 lap feature at Virginia Motor Speedway to become the sixth different winner of the 2023 season. Lipscombe got to the outside of Hubbard three times between laps fifteenth and seventeen before Hubbard moved up into Lipscombe’s line and found it to his liking as well. Hubbard would stretch out his lead and go on to take the win. “We have been trying so hard to get to victory lane; once Lipscombe got to my outside, I moved up and found his line worked for my car as well,” commented an emotional Hubbard in Virginia Is for Racing Lovers victory lane. Derek Magee and Hubbard led the field to green, with Hubbard taking the lead out of turn 2. Behind him, the battle for second went 3-wide between Magee, Lipscombe and point leader Jeremy Pilkerton. Magee would emerge with the spot, with Lipscombe working the high line, looking for a way around him. On lap 4, it looked like Libscombe would take the spot, but Magee would defend the spot until Lipscombe rocketed by him in turns one and two on lap 9 to take second. Lipscombe would then set out to reel in Hubbard, who had almost a full straight lead. By lap 17, Lipscombe had closed that distance and was looking to get by for the lead. Using the high line, Lipscombe would get side-by-side with Hubbard for two laps before falling back into second place. Hubbard went on to take the win, with Davis Lipscombe, Derek Magee, Jeremy Pilkerton, and Corey Almond rounding out the top five. In the Budweiser Modified 25-lap feature, Bret Hamilton and Chase Butler led the field to green. Heading into turn two, the battle for the lead went 4-wide briefly between Hamilton, Butler, Russell Erwin, and Michael Pappas. Hamilton would lead Butler into turn 3, where Butler put a slide job on him to take the lead out of turn 4. On lap 9, Erwin began looking to the outside of Butler for the lead. The two traded the lead back and forth for the next three laps before Erwin rocketed around Butler for the lead on lap 13 to take the lead. Erwin was pulling away when his car slowed in turn 2, ending his night, handing the lead back to Butler. Once out front, Butler paced the field with the battle for second raging behind him. Butler would go on to take his fourth win of the season, followed to the checkers by Jeff Solinger, Bret Hamilton, Tim Schulte, and Doug Penny. In the Truckin Thunder Sportsman 25-lap feature, Steve Causey of Smithfield, VA, came from his fourth-place starting spot to grab the lead out of turn 4. Once out front, Causey pulled away from the field and the battle for second. On lap 7 behind him, Hunter Wright, Brett Adkins, and Matt Meads went 3-wide in turn 2 for second. Wright would wrestle the spot away and try to catch the leader, Causey. Causey would go on to take his first win of 2023. Rounding out the top five were Hunter Wright, Adam Breeden, Brett Adkins, and Matt Meads. In the Joe Hudson’s Collision Centers Limited Stock 20 lap feature, it only took Johnny Brooks of Aylett, VA, eight laps to take the lead from his eighth-place starting position. It wasn’t as easy as it looked, as Brooks had a tough battle with Brian Maxey on this way to the front. But once in third, he began picking off the top two drivers one at a time. First Raymond Harper, then leader Cory Bradley. Once Brooks took the lead, he pulled away for his sixth win of the season, followed by Corey Bradley, Raymond Harper, Trent Clemans, and Justin Pullen. The speedway will return to racing on Saturday, September 16, to host Joe Hudson’s Collision Center Championship Night and the final week of Dirt Series Championship weekly racing. Jeremy Pilkerton Holds Off Davis Lipscombe for Pro Late Model Victory; Dehaven, Adkins, and Bradley All Score First Wins of 2023

Jamaica, VA – Jeremy Pilkerton of Loveville, MD, held off a hard-charging Davis Lipscombe of Mechanicsville, VA, in the closing laps to score his second Victory Lap Pro Late Model victory at Virginia Motor Speedway. “When I got to the lapped car, I thought the race was over; I have to give props to Davis Lipscombe. That was the best race I have ever been a part of,” commented Pilkerton in Virginia Is For Racing Lovers victory lane. “I thought I gave the race away several times when it got loose on me.” Pilkerton and Matt Ashworth led the field to green, but Bud Stinson would come from third to lead the opening circuit of the 30-lap feature. On the next lap, Pilkerton would get under Stinson in turn 4 and take over the top spot, followed by Nick Davis into second and Davis Lipscombe into third. On the next lap, Lipscombe would get under Davis in turn 4 for second when Davis slid up the track. Pilkerton would pace the field, with Lipscombe closing the gap. On lap 21, the leaders came up on a slower car, with Pilkerton going high and Lipscombe going low down the backstretch. That allowed Lipscombe to nip Pilkerton at the line for the lead. A lead that would only last till turn 2 when Pilkerton would once again take control of the top spot. The races only caution came out on lap 24 for Curtis Hughes, who stopped on the front stretch after something broke on his car. On the restart, Pilkerton kept a couple of car lengths between himself and Lipscombe and scored his second win of 2023. Rounding out the top five were Lipscombe, Billy Hubbard, Nick Davis, and Ray Love, Jr. In the Budweiser Modified 25-lap feature, Bret Hamilton of Powhatan, VA, and Stephen Bryant led the field to green. Hamilton would grab the lead coming out of turn 2 with the action 3-wide behind him. The race’s only caution came out on lap 6 for a spinning Curtis Mason Jr. On the restart, Hamilton would pull away by a car length over T.J. Dehaven. Dehaven would close in on Hamilton and, on lap 11, would drive a car length deeper into three, with both cars pushing up the track allowing Dehaven to take the lead. Once out front, Dehaven would pull away for the victory while Hamilton would hold off Chase Butler for second. Rounding out the top five were Butler, Jeff Solinger, and Brent Bordeaux. In the Truckin Thunder Sportsman 25-lap feature, Adam Breeden and Matt Meads would lead the field to green, with Breeden taking the lead at the line by inches. In turn 1, Breeden pulled ahead by a couple of car lengths while Meads and Steve Causey battled for second. Causey would get into the back of Meads in turn 3, sending Meads spinning and bringing out the races only caution. Causey would be sent to the rear as well. On the restart, Breeden had Brett Adkins on his bumper. On lap 3, Breeden slid up the track in turn 2, allowing Adkins to drive under him for the lead. Once out front, Adkins cruised to the win. Rounding out the top five were Hunter Wright, Steve Causey, Adam Breeden, and Matt Meads. In the Collision One Limited Stock Car 20 lap feature, Cory Bradley of Hopewell, VA, and Trent Clemans of North Prince George, VA, led the field to green, with Bradley leading the first circuit, closely followed by Raymond Harper and Clemans, with Harper and Clemans battling for second, that allowed Bradley to set a good pace and pull away in the caution-free event for the win. Rounding out the top five were Raymond Harper, Johnny Brooks, Trent Clemans, and Ryan Hutchens. Jamaica, VA – The stars and cars of the FASTRAK Pro Late Model Touring Series will invade Virginia Motor Speedway for the $3000 to win Prelude to the World Championship. Many of the Mid-Atlantic’s top Pro Late Model drivers will be on hand to not only take home the $3000 top prize but also get some valuable track time for the $50,000 to win FASTRAK World Championship set for September 23-24, 2022. “What this essentially boils down to is a paid practice for Pro Late Model competitors for our upcoming $50,000 to win FASTRAK World Championship presented by Dealer Group USA,” commented track owner and President Bill Sawyer. Hoosier’s National Tire Shortage Forces Cancellation of This Weekend’s Prelude to the World Championship

Jamaica, Virginia – The current Hoosier tire shortage has forced officials at Virginia Motor Speedway and FASTRAK Racing to cancel this weekend’s Prelude to the World Championship event. After exhausting all avenues available to get enough FT200 and FT400 compounds to cover the number of cars expected to contend for the $3000 top prize, the difficult decision was to cancel the event for 2021. “We have been in conversations with Hoosier Tire for several weeks now about the number of tires available as it is not only affecting this FASTRAK tour event but also our weekly racing,” commented Virginia Motor owner Bill Sawyer. Sawyer added, “unfortunately, there are just not enough tires available for not only the Pro Late Models but also for two of our weekly divisions; there is just no way to get the tires manufactured in time for the event.” This cancellation comes on the heels of the track’s 45th annual USA 100 falling to rain. The cancellation will also affect the three weekly divisions scheduled to compete as support divisions to the FASTRAK Touring Series. “I support Bill and Virginia Motor Speedway’s decisions on this,” commented FASTRAK Racing Owner/Founder Stan Lester. “No different than our Charlotte event when we had to cancel it. SPEEDWAY TO HOST HUGE NIGHT OF WEEKLY RACING THIS SATURDAY, JULY 31

Jamaica, VA – Virginia Motor Speedway will return to racing this Saturday, July 31st, and host week 9 of the Dirt Series Championship weekly racing season. The night will feature all four of the speedway’s Dirt Series Championship weekly divisions in action. See the Victory Lap Pro Late Models, Truckin Thunder Sportsman, Budweiser Modified, and Collision One Limited Stock Cars in some exciting side-by-side racing! After a storm washed out three of the scheduled features on July 17th, the speedway will make up those features before going into week 9 action. So you get twice the racing for one low price. The three divisions that will make up their features are the Victory Lap Pro Late Models. Budweiser Modifieds, and the Collision One Limited Stock Cars. You do not want to miss a minute of the action. Spectator gates open at 5 pm, with hot laps beginning at 6 pm and features starting at 7:30 pm. Competitor gates for Saturday, July 31st will open at 3 pm, and spectator gates opening at 5 pm. On-track activities will begin at 6 pm for hot laps, and features will start at 7:30 pm. Saturday, July 17th make up features: Victory Pro Late Models (30 Laps); Budweiser Modifieds (25 Laps); and the Collision One Limited Stock Cars (20 laps). Saturday, July 31st features: Victory Pro Late Models (30 Laps); Budweiser Modifieds (25 Laps); Truckin Thunder Sportsman (25 laps) and the Collision One Limited Stock Cars (20 laps). All divisions will run Hot Lap Time Trials and Features. Admission price for Adults $12, seniors (60+) $10; military (active/retired w/ proper I.D.) $8, students 13 – 17 years old $6 and children 12 and under admitted free. Pit passes, regardless of age, are $25. Tickets can be purchased online or in person. To enhance the fan’s racing experience, the speedway has installed a short-wave FM transmitter, and all of the evening’s action can be heard at 95.5 FM.
