ULTIMATE Sanctioned USA 100 Falls to Rain for Third Time

Jamaica, VA – Officials of the ULTIMATE Super Late Model Series and the Virginia Motor Speedway announced today that the 34th Annual USA 100 has been cancelled for Friday August 23rd at Bill Sawyer’s Virginia half-mile facility due to heavy rains. After three rainouts the event will not be rescheduled for 2013, officials with both the series and track will work on a date for the 2014 season. The speedway returns to action next Saturday August 31st for Pepsi Night at the Races. The evenings events will include four divisions of exciting high octane, side by side dirt track racing. See the Victory Lap Late Model / Fastrak Pro Late Models, Truckin Thunder Sportsman, Budweiser Modified and Collision One Limited Stock Car divisions in action. All divisions will compete in a “Twin Race” format. Competitor gates for Saturday, August 31st will open at 4pm with spectator gates opening at 5pm. On track activities will begin at 6:30pm with hot laps. Divisions scheduled to race: Victory Lap Late Models / Fastrak Pro Late Models (Twin 20 Laps); Budweiser Modifieds (Twin 15 Laps); Truckin Thunder Sportsman (Twin 15 laps) and the Collision One Limited Stock Cars (Twin 12 laps). All divisions will run Hot Lap Time Trials and twin Features. ULTIMATE Sanctioned USA 100 Set for This Friday August 23rd

Jamaica, Virginia – They say “Third Times a Charm”, well at least that is what officials of the Virginia Motor Speedway and the ULTIMATE Super Late Model Series are hoping for as they get set to run the 34th Annual USA 100 this Friday August 23rd. The event which was originally scheduled for May 18th was delayed twice by bad weather. The third attempt has everyone anxious to get the $10,000 to win event in the books. The event will pay $10,000 to the winner and continue with the fan friendly format of two twenty-five lap qualifying races to make it into the fifty lap “A” main. Virginia Motor Speedway is pulling out all the stops once again to draw a great field of cars from the Mid-Atlantic and Southeast by offering tow money to any driver not making the 26 car field with any driver not making the A Main receiving $200. The speedway has added a special $1500 to win modified event as the support division for this event. With the added money the speedway is expecting to get a few new competitors vying for the win. Competitor gates for Friday August 23rd will open at 4pm with spectator gates opening at 6pm. On track activities will begin at 7pm with hot laps. Divisions scheduled to race on Friday: ULTIMATE Super Late Models (Two 25 lap qualifiers and a 50 lap feature) and Modifieds (30 Laps). Both the Ultimate Super Late Models and Modifieds will run hot laps, qualifying, heats, B- Main (if needed) and feature. $1500 to Win Modified Event Added to USA 100 Festivities Friday August 23rd

Jamaica, VA – Officials at Virginia Motor Speedway have announced that the speedway will host a $1500 to win Modified event in conjunction with the running of the 34th Annual USA 100 on Friday August 23rd. With the second reschedule of the USA 100 now on a Friday night track officials decided to bring back the Modified special that has accompanied the special event the past two years. The 30 lap event will pay $1500 to win and $100 to start the A-Main. Anyone not making the A-Main will receive $50. The event will feature group qualifying, heats, B-Main(s) and the 30 lap feature. Both Hoosier Tire and American Race Tire compounds will be allowed. Engine Rules will be announced in the coming week. ULTIMATE Sanctioned USA 100 at Virginia Motor Speedway Postponed Until Friday August 23rd

Jamaica, Virginia – For the second time this season Officials of the Virginia Motor Speedway and the ULTIMATE Super Late Model Series have elected to postpone the 34th Annual USA 100. The event which was originally scheduled for May 18th was delayed then until July 13th because of weather. And now with bad weather looming yet again officials have postponed the event again until Friday, August 23rd. “This is extremely disappointing but we have just been inundated with rain over the last two days and with the forecast still calling for even more of the same this was the only thing we could do; maybe the third time will be a charm,” commented track owner Bill Sawyer. The Friday night date will also allow the track and series to take advantage of the off night for the World of Outlaws who will be racing the following day at Winchester Speedway in nearby Winchester, Virginia. “The eastern seaboard and really most of the country has been plagued by continued rainfall over the last few weeks and that has left the ground saturated everywhere. So any additional rain just wreaks havoc for us racing promoters. Virginia Motor Speedway has been having rain off and on all day today (Friday) and the rain chances are still high for tomorrow. It’s just a no win situation. But we feel like we have picked another good date for the make-up and we will proceed with that. I want to thank the Sawyer family, Ernie Shelton, Dave Seay, Brian Tidball and the entire staff at Virginia Motor Speedway for working with us so closely and trying to take care of our drivers and fans. We are always excited about going to VMS so now we can continue to build that excitement up for a little while longer.” said ULTIMATE Series CEO and Founder Stan Lester. 34th Annual USA 100 at Virginia Motor Speedway Falls to Rain

Jamaica, VA – The 34th Annual USA 100 set for tonight May 18th at Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway has been cancelled due to rain and the extended forecast. A rescheduled date is being discussed with the Ultimate Super Late Model Series and will be announced at a later date. “This is very disappointing but with the rain we have had overnight and the forecast for even more today we felt it best to get the word out early and save our fans and teams the expense of getting to us and then having to call it anyway,” commented track owner Bill Sawyer. Sawyer added, “We will work with the Ultimate Series officials this coming week on a possible reschedule date that is suitable for the series and track.” The speedway will return to racing Saturday June 1st for Truckin Thunder Scout Night presented by the Virginia Army National Guard and week four of Virginia Army National Guard Dirt Series action. The night’s activities will include the 2nd Annual Truckin Thunder Dirtwood Nationals Pinewood Derby presented by the Virginia Army National Guard that will precede the action at the big track. There will be three divisions of competition for the pinewood derby – Scouts, Fans and VMS competitors. Gates will open at 2pm for registration and the 2nd Annual Dirtwood Nationals will start at 3pm. After the pinewood derby everyone is invited to stay for a night filled with exciting high octane, side by side dirt track racing and fireworks. All Scouts and Scout Masters in uniform will be admitted free in the grandstands. USA 100 back on 2013 Schedule; New Date and Sanctioning by Ultimate Super Late Models

Jamaica, VA – Officials of Virginia Motor Speedway announced at the Motorsports 2013 show in Oaks, PA on Saturday that the USA 100 will return to the 2013 schedule with a new date and sanctioning body. The 34th Annual USA 100 will now be contested on Saturday May 18th and be sanctioned by the Ultimate Super Late Model Series. The event will pay $10,000 to win and continue with the fan friendly format of two twenty-five lap qualifying races to make it into the fifty lap “A” main. “The USA 100 is one of the longest running late model events in the country and we felt it was important to keep the tradition going; after discussions with Ernie Shelton the owner of the USA 100 and Stan Lester of the Ultimate Super Late Model Series a deal was struck to bring it back for 2013,” commented track owner Bill Sawyer. The USA 100 will take the place of the previously scheduled Ultimate Super Late Model sanctioned Mid-Atlantic Spring Championship on Saturday May 18th. This will be the third year that the series has sanctioned an event at the ½ mile speed plant. “It’s an honor to be a part of one of the county’s longest running races. I appreciate Ernie Shelton, Bill Sawyer and the staff of Virginia Motor Speedway for intrusting the Ultimate Super Late Model Series with sanctioning this time honored event; I look forward to many successful years ahead,” commented Stan Lester Owner and Founder of the Ultimate Super Late Model Series. This will be the eighth year that the USA 100 will be contested at Virginia Motor Speedway. In the previous seven years there has yet to be a repeat winner. Shaver Sensational in Mid-Atlantic Spring Championship; Carter and C. Arnold first time winners

Jamaica, VA – The finish to the Ultimate Super Late Model sanctioned Mid-Atlantic Spring Championship had the crowd on their feet as Steve Shaver of Vienna, WV and Jeremy Miller of Gettysburg, PA put on a show as they battled over the final twenty laps for the win with Shaver taking the lead on last lap to take the win and the $10,000 top prize. “I have to thank the Sawyer’s for supplying us with a track you can race on, you could go anywhere on the track and pass cars, I just love coming to this place,” commented a very elated Shaver in victory lane. Jeremy Miller and Chris Madden led the field to green with Miller taking the top spot and the lead out of turn 2. Miller looked to be untouchable as he pulled away from the field and began lapping slower cars by lap 8. On lap 12 Madden had to hold off Dale McDowell for second as they worked through lapped traffic. In Lap 16 McDowell got inside off Madden out of turn 2, as they raced back into three Steve Shaver made it three wide coming out of turn 4 to take third. On a lap 21 restart Shaver got inside McDowell for second and set out to catch Miller. By lap 29 Shaver had caught Miller and began pressuring him for the lead. Several times he would get inside Miller but each time Miller would hold on to the spot. On lap 35, with the lead duo working lapped traffic, Shaver got inside Miller coming out of turn 4 and nipped Miller for the lead at the line. Miller would rocket back to the lead in turn 1 with Shaver in close pursuit. On lap 46 Shaver began testing the outside of Miller and on each successive lap would pull alongside to challenge for the lead. On lap 48 shaver dove it in deep in turn 1 and when the two exited turn 2 Shaver had pulled off the pass for the lead and would go on to score the $10,000 victory. Rounding out the top five were Jeremy Miller, Dale McDowell, Rick Eckert, and Jamie Lathroum. Heat race wins went to Chris Madden, Jeremy Miller, Jamie Lathroum and Chris Ferguson. B Main win went to Ricky Elliott. In other action the speedway had two first time winners as Chris Arnold of Petersburg, VA led flag to flag for his first win in the Budweiser Modified division and junior Carter of Mechanicsville, VA held off Todd Trayor of King William, VA for his first Truckin Thunder Sportsman victory. In the Budweiser Modified 25 feature Chris Arnold of Petersburg, VA led flag to flag for his career first win at Virginia Motor Speedway. Behind him current point leader brian Dobie and former track champion Brett Hamilton put on a show for the fans racing side by side for second for ten laps. Dobie would take second by inches at the line over Hamilton with Page Harrison and defending track champion Dan Arnold rounding out the top 5. Donnie Smith was the Pitts Lumber Rookie of the Race with his ninth place finish. In the Truckin Thunder Sportsman 25 lap feature Junior Carter and Davey Pullen led the field to green with Carter controlling the top spot. On lap 11 Todd Trayor got past Pullen for second and began to reel in the leader. On lap 18 Traylor began applying pressure for the lead looking inside Carter at every corner. Each time Carter was up to the task and the laps wound down. With the fans on their feet Traylor pushed Carter for all he was worth only to come up short as Carter would take his career first Sportsman win with Traylor glued to his bumper. Rounding out the top five were Stephen Childress, Brett Adkins and Taylor Doggett. Brett Adkins was the Pitts Lumber rookie of the Race with his fourth place finish. ULTIMATE SUPER LATE MODELS SET TO RETURN THIS SATURDAY

Jamaica, VA – Anticipation is running high for the return of the ULTIMATE Super Late Model Series this Saturday May 19th to Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway for the $10,000 to win Mid-Atlantic Spring Championship presented by FK Rod Ends. Last season’s visit by the regional touring series was one of 2011’s top dirt late model events on the East Coast. ULTIMATE teams have been buzzing about their return to Virginia Motor Speedway since last year’s event. Defending race winner Steve Shaver will be looking to repeat when this Saturday rolls around and looking to stop him will be a host of top late model talent to include defending ULTIMATE Super Late Model Series Champion Chris Ferguson, current ULTIMATE point leader Casey Roberts, Chris Madden, Dennis Franklin and the rest of the ULTIMATE faithful. Also expect regional stand-outs Ricky Elliott, Jamie Lathroum, Jason Covert, Jeremy Miller, UFO Late Model Series Champion Devin Friese and current World of Outlaws Late Model Champion Rick Eckert. The driver’s from the South will have their hands full with a tough contingent of Mid-Atlantic hot-shoes. This is sure to turn into an epic North versus South event. Virginia Motor Speedway is pulling out all the stops once again to draw every Late Model in the Mid-Atlantic and Southeast by offering tow money to any driver not making the 26 car field with any driver not making the A Main receiving $200. Virginia Motor Speedway and ULTIMATE series officials expect the pits to be overflowing with Super Late Models as teams flock to Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway for this special event. Fans will also see the track’s Truckin Thunder Sportsman and Budweiser Modified divisions in Virginia Army National Guard Dirt Series action. There will be three drawings for the fans to become very interactive with this event. One fan will get the chance to ride in the Pace Truck during the traditional “Four Wide” salute to the fans while one lucky fan will get to the chance to be Grand Marshall and wave the green flag at the start of the race. There will also be one lucky fan that will win a VP Racing Fuel checked flag autographed by all the drivers in attendance courtesy of the ULTIMATE Super Late Model Series.
