Speedway to host Steel Block Bandits AND Modified Mafia Series for a Pair of $10,000 to win Mark Batten Memorial Features, Saturday, June 1

Jamaica, VA – One of the most anticipated events of the year is just two weeks away as Virginia Motor Speedway will host the 3rd Annual Mark Batten Memorial, Saturday June 1st. The stars and cars of the Steel Block Bandits Dirt Late Model Challenge Series and Modified Mafia Series will invade Virginia Motor Speedway for a pair of $10,000 to-win features. Many of the Mid-Atlantic’s top Limited Late Model and Modified drivers are expected to be on hand. “We are very humbled that the Batten family wanted us to host this memorial event, with $10,000 on the line for both the Steel Block Bandits and Modified Mafia series, we are expecting a huge car count. Competitor gates for Saturday, June 1, will open at 2 pm, with spectator gates opening at 5 pm. On track, activities will begin at 6 pm with hot laps. Adult tickets are just $30; seniors (60+) $25, military $20; students 13 – 17 years old $15; and children 12 and under free. Pit passes, regardless of age, will be $40. Jamaica, VA – Mother Nature did her best to put a damper on the 14th annual Mud Mayhem presented by Breezeline and WhosYourDriver.org, but the fans and competitors showed out despite the rain and mud at The Pit at Virginia Motor Speedway. The event saw the largest truck count of Mega Trucks in the facility’s history, with sixty-four total trucks showing up for race number three for the Premier Mega Truck Racing Series, forty-one Pro Mega Trucks, and 23 1-Ton Super Trucks. Jamaica, VA – The first of two mud bogs for the 2024 season is scheduled for today Saturday, May 18 as The Pit at Virginia Motor Speedway hosts the 14th annual Mud Mayhem presented by Breezeline and WhosYourDriver.org. The event will feature the competitors of the Premier Mega Truck Racing Series in head-to-head, no time clock racing. This will be one mega of a show and is RAIN OR SHINE! Also, scheduled are the Super Stock, Pro Stock, Modified, and Pro Mod divisions running the very challenging hill and hole mud pit. There will also be two divisions of Kid’s Power Wheels for the young mudders that are 10 years of age and under. Jamaica, Virginia – With rain overnight into the morning, and the chance of rain later in the afternoon, management of Virginia Motor Speedway has made the difficult decision to cancel the $5000 to win FASTRAK Racing Series sanctioned Commonwealth Clash. “The decision to cancel a race is the hardest thing we have to do as a promoter. But Mother Nature has forced a decision as we have too many drivers and fans coming from long distances. We don’t want to cause them any unnecessary costs for fuel and hotel rooms”, commented Virginia Motor owner Bill Sawyer. The speedway will take Mother’s Day weekend off and return on Saturday, May 18th to host the 13th Annual Mud Mayhem Mud Bog presented by Breezeline and WhosYourDriver.org. The event will feature the Premier Mega Truck Racing Series in head-to-head mega truck racing on a short course.
