Jamaica, VA – With already soaked grounds and more rain on the way officials of Virginia Motor Speedway have made the tough decision to cancel racing activities for Pepsi Night Saturday, August 3rd.

“We have a lot of competitors and fans who travel an enormous amount of highway miles to attend our events,” said track owner Bill Sawyer. “We don’t want anyone to have the burden of making a long trip for nothing.”

Sawyer added, “We hate to have to cancel tomorrow’s racing, but as we make this decision the grounds look like “Lake Jamaica” and with more rain on the way, we felt it best just to make the call.”

The speedway will return to racing next Saturday, August 10th and host the rescheduled Pepsi Night and week 10 of Dirt Series Championship weekly racing action featuring the Victory Lap Pro Late Models, Budweiser Modifieds, Truckin Thunder Sportsman and Collision One Limited Stock Cars in action.

Competitor gates for Saturday, August 10th, will open at 3pm with spectator gates opening at 5pm. On track activities will begin at 6:30pm with hot laps.

Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway is a ½ mile dirt oval track is located on U.S. Route 17, eight miles north of Saluda, VA and 25 miles south of Tappahannock, VA in Jamaica, VA. The speedway is just a short drive from Richmond, Fredericksburg, Southern Maryland and the Hampton Roads area.
