Jamaica, VA – This Saturday July 28th Virginia Motor Speedway returns to racing and will host week 8 of Aaron’s Dirt Series Championship weekly racing featuring the Victory Lap Pro Late Models, Truckin Thunder Sportsman, Budweiser Modified and Collision One Limited Stock Cars in some exciting side by side racing!

The action on the track continues to be as hot as the temperatures with three of the four Aaron’s Dirt Series Championship divisions having four different winners in as many events. Will that trend continue this Saturday night in the Pro Late Model, Sportsman and Modified divisions? With the caliber of competition that races weekly at VMS the chances are high that it will continue.

Heading into this weekend’s action the Championship point races look to get event tighter. In the Victory Lap Pro Late Model division Corey Almond of Appomattox, VA holds a slim 12 point advantage over Matt Quade of Mechanicsville, MD; in the Truckin Thunder Sportsman Steve Causey of Smithfield, VA took over the points lead with his win at the last race and holds a slim 4 point lead over both defending Champion Tim Shelton of Fredericksburg, VA; in the Budweiser Modified division Ryan Toole of Henrico, VA and Tim Schulte of Troy, VA are tied atop the standings and hold a 7 point advantage over rookie Chase Butler of Mechanicsville, VA and in the Collision One Limited Stock Cars defending Champion James Givens of Sandston, VA holds a 15 point advantage over Cory Bradley of Hopewell, VA.

Competitor gates for Saturday July 28th will open at 3pm with spectator gates opening at 5pm. On track activities will begin at 6:30pm for hot laps.

Divisions scheduled to race on Saturday: Victory Lap Pro Late Models (35 Laps); Budweiser Modifieds (30 laps); Truckin Thunder Sportsman (30 laps) and the Collision One Limited Stock Cars (25 laps). All divisions will run Hot Lap Time Trials and Features.

Admission price for Adults $12, seniors (60+) $10; military (active/retired w/ proper I.D.) $8, students 11 – 17 years old $6 and children 10 and under admitted free. Pit passes will be $20.

Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway is a ½ mile dirt oval track is located on U.S. Route 17, eight miles north of Saluda, VA and 25 miles south of Tappahannock, VA in Jamaica, VA. The speedway is just a short drive from Richmond, Fredericksburg, Southern Maryland and the Hampton Roads area.
