Jamaica, VA – After suffering the third rainout of the season and not racing since early May, competitors and fans alike are anxious for some racing action. This Saturday June 30th Virginia Motor Speedway will host the rescheduled Gloucester S.T.A.R Kids Night at the Races featuring all four of the speedway’s Aaron’s Dirt Series Championship weekly divisions in action. See the Victory Lap Pro Late Models, Truckin Thunder Sportsman, Budweiser Modified and Collision One Limited Stock Cars in some exciting side by side racing! S.T.A.R. Kids Night at the Races is always a special one for the speedway as the children from the Gloucester S.T.A.R. program visit for a night of dirt track racing. The S.T.A.R. program provides athletics, games and social time to children with special needs. Competitor gates for Saturday June 30th will open at 3pm with spectator gates opening at 5pm. On track activities will begin at 6:30pm for hot laps. Divisions scheduled to race on Saturday: Victory Lap Pro Late Models (35 Laps); Budweiser Modifieds (30 laps); Truckin Thunder Sportsman (30 laps) and the Collision One Limited Stock Cars (25 laps). All divisions will run Hot Lap Time Trials and Features. Kids Night racing activities at Virginia Motor Speedway. Speedway officials will work with the Gloucester S.T.A.R. program to reschedule the night’s activities. “We tried to get tonight’s events in, but with heavy lightning and a severe thunderstorm warning in affect we felt that the safety of our fans and competitors was paramount,” commented track General Manager Clarke Sawyer. Speedway Cancels Racing Activities for Saturday June 2nd

Jamaica, VA – Speedway management has made the decision to cancel racing activities for Saturday June 2nd due to the unfavorable forecast that includes heavy thunderstorms and a Flash Flood Warning until early Sunday Morning. This is the second rainout of the 2018 season. The speedway will now host Gloucester S.T.A.R. Kids Night and week 6 of the Aaron’s Dirt Series Champion weekly racing season Saturday June 9th. The night will feature the Victory Lap Late Models, Truckin Thunder Sportsman, Budweiser Modified and Collision One Limited Stock Car divisions in action. “We are extremely disappointed in losing another race to weather, but the safety of our fans, competitors and staff is our utmost concern and would not want to take a chance of putting them or their families in any kind of danger”, commented track General Manager Clarke Sawyer. Sawyer added, “S.T.A.R. Kids Night is very special to us which makes this decision even more difficult, but we will move their night to next Saturday June 9th.” The S.T.A.R. program provides athletics, games and social time to children with special needs.
