Rain Forces Cancellation of WRAR/WNNT Night Activities at Virginia Motor Speedway
Jamaica, VA – Rain and the forecast for more thunderstorms has forced officials at Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway to cancel WRAR/WNNT Night activities for Saturday, April 24th. “We are tremendously disappointed that Mother Nature has forced us to cancel our first event of the year for our Virginia Army National Guard Dirt Series divisions. But with the current rain and the threat of more severe weather on the way coupled with the price of gas we feel it is in everyone’s best interest to cancel tonight’s racing program,” commented track General Manager Clarke Sawyer. The speedway will take the weekend of May 1st off due to the NASCAR events at Richmond International Raceway and return to racing Saturday May 8th with the rescheduled WRAR/WNNT Night at the races. The evenings events will include four divisions of exciting high octane, side by side dirt track racing. See the Victory Lap Late Model, Truckin Thunder Sportsman, Budweiser Modified and Collision One Limited Stock Car divisions in action. Competitor gates for Saturday, May 8th will open at 3pm with spectator gates opening at 4pm. On track activities will begin at 6:30pm with hot laps. Divisions scheduled to race on Saturday: Victory Lap Late Models (35 Laps); Budweiser Modifieds (25 Laps); Truckin Thunder Sportsman (25 laps) and the Collision One Limited Stock Cars (20 laps). All divisions will run Hot Lap Time Trials and Features.
