Jamaica, VA – Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway returns to action this Saturday August 6th for host Pepsi, WXGM Night featuring four divisions of Virginia Army National Guard Dirt Series action. See the Victory Lap Late Model, Truckin Thunder Sportsman, Budweiser Modifies and the Collision One Limited Stock divisions. Come experience the raw, pure excitement that is dirt racing! Competitor gates for Saturday, August 6th will open at 4pm with spectator gates opening at 5pm. On track activities will begin at 6:30pm with hot laps. Divisions scheduled to race on Saturday August 6th: Victory Lap Late Models (35 Laps); Truckin Thunder Sportsman (25 Laps); Budweiser Modifieds (25 Laps); and the Collision One Limited Stock Cars (20 laps). All divisions will run Hot Lap Time Trials and Features. Admission price for Adults $10, seniors (60+) $8; military (active/retired w/ proper I.D.) $5, students 13 – 17 years old $7, children 7 to 12 $4 and children 6 and under admitted free. Pit passes will be $20. To enhance the fans racing experience the speedway has installed a short wave FM transmitter and all of the evening’s action can be heard at 95.5 FM. $10,000 to win Summer Heat 50 This Saturday July 23rd

Jamaica, VA – The inaugural season of ULTIMATE Super Late Model competition will be highlighted with a huge $10,000 to win feature event Saturday July 23rd at the ½ mile clay oval known as Virginia Motor Speedway. Virginia Motor Speedway has hosted numerous electrifying and prestigious late model events and now adds the Summer Heat 50 to its racing portfolio. “We are excited to host an elite event for this new series, Stan Lester and his staff have put together what we feel is a very competitive group that should please our many fans with some awesome racing,” commented Track General Manger Clarke Sawyer. ULTIMATE teams have been buzzing with discussion about this upcoming event. New championship leader Chip Brindle, riding the momentum of his Independence Shootout win at Cherokee Speedway, is just one of the many drivers who have this event circled as a must on their schedule. “The Georgia Bandit” Casey Roberts will be looking to rebound after a rare DNF in the Independence Shootout. Chris “Fergy Time” Ferguson, Ricky Weeks, Daniel Baggerly, Ross Bailes and “Kid Quick” Zack Mitchell are just a few of the drivers who will head north to battle for the $10,000 winner’s check and a total purse exceeding $35,000. The driver’s from the South will have their hands full with a tough contingent of Mid-Atlantic hot-shoes. This is sure to turn into an epic North versus South event. Stormy Weather Pushes Grand Finale Of Virginia Motor Speedway’s Commonwealth 100 Weekend To Sunday (April 17)

JAMAICA, VA – April 16, 2011 – With the expected wet, windy weather beginning to strike Virginia Motor Speedway on Saturday morning and hazardous conditions possible throughout the day as well, track and World of Outlaws Late Model Series officials have postponed the evening’s scheduled NAPA of King William Commonwealth 100 to Sunday (April 17). “In the interest of economics and safety for our race fans and competitors, it’s best to just push the race back one day rather than create the unnecessary situation of bringing everyone out to the track to sit through a long day in ugly weather,” said VMS owner Bill Sawyer. “With the conditions that are staring us in the face, both our staff and officials from the World of Outlaws decided the best thing to do was to make the call early and put all our focus on closing out the Commonwealth 100 weekend on Sunday. “We have a great, sunny forecast for Sunday, so it’s going to be a wonderful day for racing.” Sawyer said that his half-mile oval’s gates will open at 2 p.m. on Sunday and hot laps are scheduled to begin at 3 p.m. The $25,000-to-win Commonwealth 100 will then hit the track, followed by the 30-lap, $3,000-to-win ‘Rumble on the River’ Non-Qualifiers’ Race to end the day. The 26-car starting field for the Commonwealth 100 was set through Friday night’s four 15-lap heat races and two 20-lap B-Mains. Heat winners were Austin Hubbard of Seaford, Del., Darrell Lanigan of Union, Ky., Scott Bloomquist of Mooresburg, Tenn., and Steve Shaver of Vienna, W.Va., and the B-Mains were captured by Jeremy Miller of Gettysburg, Pa., and Josh Richards of Shinnston, W.Va. Chris Madden of Gray Court, S.C., who won last year’s inaugural Commonwealth 100, will start from the pole position in his quest for back-to-back triumphs.
