Jeremy Pilkerton Holds Off Davis Lipscombe for Pro Late Model Victory; Dehaven, Adkins, and Bradley All Score First Wins of 2023

Jamaica, VA – Jeremy Pilkerton of Loveville, MD, held off a hard-charging Davis Lipscombe of Mechanicsville, VA, in the closing laps to score his second Victory Lap Pro Late Model victory at Virginia Motor Speedway. “When I got to the lapped car, I thought the race was over; I have to give props to Davis Lipscombe. That was the best race I have ever been a part of,” commented Pilkerton in Virginia Is For Racing Lovers victory lane. “I thought I gave the race away several times when it got loose on me.” Pilkerton and Matt Ashworth led the field to green, but Bud Stinson would come from third to lead the opening circuit of the 30-lap feature. On the next lap, Pilkerton would get under Stinson in turn 4 and take over the top spot, followed by Nick Davis into second and Davis Lipscombe into third. On the next lap, Lipscombe would get under Davis in turn 4 for second when Davis slid up the track. Pilkerton would pace the field, with Lipscombe closing the gap. On lap 21, the leaders came up on a slower car, with Pilkerton going high and Lipscombe going low down the backstretch. That allowed Lipscombe to nip Pilkerton at the line for the lead. A lead that would only last till turn 2 when Pilkerton would once again take control of the top spot. The races only caution came out on lap 24 for Curtis Hughes, who stopped on the front stretch after something broke on his car. On the restart, Pilkerton kept a couple of car lengths between himself and Lipscombe and scored his second win of 2023. Rounding out the top five were Lipscombe, Billy Hubbard, Nick Davis, and Ray Love, Jr. In the Budweiser Modified 25-lap feature, Bret Hamilton of Powhatan, VA, and Stephen Bryant led the field to green. Hamilton would grab the lead coming out of turn 2 with the action 3-wide behind him. The race’s only caution came out on lap 6 for a spinning Curtis Mason Jr. On the restart, Hamilton would pull away by a car length over T.J. Dehaven. Dehaven would close in on Hamilton and, on lap 11, would drive a car length deeper into three, with both cars pushing up the track allowing Dehaven to take the lead. Once out front, Dehaven would pull away for the victory while Hamilton would hold off Chase Butler for second. Rounding out the top five were Butler, Jeff Solinger, and Brent Bordeaux. In the Truckin Thunder Sportsman 25-lap feature, Adam Breeden and Matt Meads would lead the field to green, with Breeden taking the lead at the line by inches. In turn 1, Breeden pulled ahead by a couple of car lengths while Meads and Steve Causey battled for second. Causey would get into the back of Meads in turn 3, sending Meads spinning and bringing out the races only caution. Causey would be sent to the rear as well. On the restart, Breeden had Brett Adkins on his bumper. On lap 3, Breeden slid up the track in turn 2, allowing Adkins to drive under him for the lead. Once out front, Adkins cruised to the win. Rounding out the top five were Hunter Wright, Steve Causey, Adam Breeden, and Matt Meads. In the Collision One Limited Stock Car 20 lap feature, Cory Bradley of Hopewell, VA, and Trent Clemans of North Prince George, VA, led the field to green, with Bradley leading the first circuit, closely followed by Raymond Harper and Clemans, with Harper and Clemans battling for second, that allowed Bradley to set a good pace and pull away in the caution-free event for the win. Rounding out the top five were Raymond Harper, Johnny Brooks, Trent Clemans, and Ryan Hutchens. The speedway will take Father’s Day weekend off and return to racing on Saturday, June 24, to host week 6 of Dirt Series Championship weekly racing featuring the Victory Lap Late Model, Budweiser Modified, Truckin Thunder Sportsman, and Collision One Limited Stock divisions in action. Speedway to Host Week 2 of Dirt Series Championship Weekly Racing this Saturday, April 30th

Jamaica, VA – Virginia Motor Speedway officials are excited to return to racing this Saturday, April 30th, and host week 2 of Dirt Series Championship weekly racing. On opening night at the ½ mile speed plant in Jamaica, VA, the racing was fantastic in all four of the speedway’s divisions. The night will feature the Victory Lap Pro Late Model, Truckin Thunder Sportsman, Budweiser Modified, and Collision One Limited Stock Car divisions in some exciting side-by-side action. On Saturday, April 30th, competitor gates will open at 3 PM, with spectator gates opening at 5 PM. On-track activities will begin at 5:45 PM for hot laps. Features will start at 7 PM. Divisions scheduled to race on Saturday will be the Victory Pro Late Models (30 Laps), Budweiser Modifieds (25 Laps), Truckin Thunder Sportsman (25 laps), and the Collision One Limited Stock Cars (20 laps). All divisions will run Hot Lap Time Trials and Features. Speedway Releases 2016 Schedule

Jamaica, VA – The tentative 2016 schedule for Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway has been released and includes 13 weeks of Aaron’s Dirt Series action, three special events and two mud bogs. The track’s always competitive weekly divisions begin their race for the division Championships and the Aaron’s Dirt Series Championship on Saturday April 2nd and end with the final point’s race of the season on Saturday September 3rd. This year’s division line-up will include the Victory Lap Pro Late Models, Truckin Thunder Sportsman, Budweiser Modifieds and the Collision One Limited Stock Cars. The first special event of 2016 will be the Aaron’s King of the Commonwealth sanctioned by the very popular Ultimate Super Late Model Series. The one day $20,000 event is expected to bring some of the nationals top super late model drivers back to the Commonwealth of Virginia for what will be one of the best races of the year. The Ultimate Super Late Model Series will then return on Saturday June 4th as they sanction the 38th Annual Tire-X USA 100. This year’s event will get a purse increase that will have the winner taking home a $15,000 check. The event will also be part of a four race mini-series billed as the Colonial Clash Championship presented by Dirt Nation. The series will start at Georgetown Speedway on Tursday June 2nd for a $4000 to win event, then head to Potomac Speedway on Friday June 3rd for a $5000 to win event; the third event will be the $15,000 to win Tire-X USA 100 on Saturday June 4th with the final event being a $5000 affair at Winchester Speedway. The mini-series will also have a $15,000 point fund with $4000 going to the champion and pay the top 15 in points. To be eligible for the point fund drivers must attempt to race all four events. After a successful debut in 2015 the speedway will again host two, $3000 to win Fastrak Pro Late Model “National Tour” events in conjunction with the two super late model events, making both events a late model fans dream. For two year’s in a row the Fastrak World Championship has produced some of the best racing ever seen at the speedway. The event returns to the 2016 schedule and will be contested on September 16 – 17th. The “Super Bowl” of Pro Late Model racing will now be an open event allowing any competitor to compete with no restrictions other than car must meet and pass Fastrak rules. The event will feature the $5000 to win World Challenge on Friday, September 16th and the $15,000 to win finale on Saturday, September 17th that will crown the Fastrak Pro Late Model World Champion. More details about the Fastrak World Championship will be released in the very near future. Along with the weekly racing action and the special events the speedway will also host two mud bogs at its state of the art mud bog facility that will be celebrating its eleventh year of racing. On Saturday May 21st “The Pit at VMS” will host the 9th Annual Down and Dirty Mud Mayhem and on Saturday October 8th the 12th Annual Down and Dirty Run-A-Muck Mud Bog and Mud Sling presented by James River Equipment and Commonwealth Motor Sports. 2015 CHAMPIONS BANQUET SET FOR SATURDAY OCT. 24; TICKETS NOW ON SALE!

Jamaica, VA – Virginia Motor Speedway will celebrate the 2015 season and officially bring it to a close with the 2015 Awards Banquet on Saturday, October 24, 2015. The event will once again be held at the beautiful Double Tree Hotel and Resort in Virginia Beach, VA. Tickets are currently on sale and can be purchased printing off the order form (2015 ORDER FORM) or by calling Dave Seay or Brian Tidball at the Speedway’s office Monday through Friday between the hours of 10am and 3pm. Tickets can be purchased with a Mastercard, Visa or Discover by calling the speedway. Tickets for this special occasion are only $40 per person and include a buffet dinner and the Awards Ceremony. Special room rates of $65 per night have been established with the newly renovated Double Tree Hotel & Resort and $58 per night at the Quality Inn Oceanfront. At both hotels ask for the VA MOTOR SPEEDWAY RATE. All Virginia Motor Speedway drivers, crews and families are encouraged to attend this year’s banquet. Jamaica, VA – Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway will return to racing this coming Saturday June 6th to host week five of the 2015 VMS Dirt Series season featuring the Victory Lap Late Model, Aaron’s Pro Late Model, Budweiser Modified, Truckin Thunder Sportsman and Collision One Limited Stock Car divisions. Heading into week five of the VMS Dirt Series the point battles continue to be tight. In the Victory Lap Late Models defending champion Justin Williams of Concord, VA holds a 6 point lead over David Williams of Mechanicsville, MD. The top six are all within 22 points.
