Speedway Releases 2021 Marquee Event Dates

Jamaica, VA – After a year where the COVID-19 pandemic canceled racing activities for Virginia Motor Speedway, officials are excited to release the dates for the speedway’s 2021 marquee events. Fans are sure to want to mark their calendars for what will be another stellar year for special events at the ½ mile speed plant in Jamaica, VA. The season’s first marquee event will be held Thursday, April 15th, with the return of 410 sprint cars for a $15,000 to win, $1500 to start event. Thursday Night Thunder will once again feature the All Star Circuit of Champions sprint car series in action. The UMP Modified division will also be the support class for this must-see event. On Saturday, May 15th, the always exciting Ultimate Super Late Model Series will return for the $20,000 to win Virginia is for Racing Lovers King of the Commonwealth and a $3000 to win FASTRAK National event for Pro Late Models. August 7th, the Ultimate Super Late Model Series stars and cars will return for Ernie Shelton’s 45th Annual USA 100 and pay $20,000 to win. There will also be a $3000 to win FASTRAK National event for Pro Late Models. The FASTRAK Touring Series competitors will get one more chance to get dialed in for the $25,000 to win FASTRAK World Championship on Saturday, August 21st, with the $3000 to win Prelude to the World Championship. The event will mark the third $3000 to win event of the season for the Pro Late Model division. With the success of the 2019 FASTRAK World Championship, track owner Bill Sawyer announced that the event would once again make history and pay a whopping $25,000 to win Friday and Saturday, September 17-18, 2021. With 113 of the country’s best Pro Late Models in attendance for the 2019 edition, everyone is excited to see what 2021 has to offer. The UMP Modified division will be the support division once again. “We are thrilled to be returning to Virginia Motor Speedway for four great race events in 2021. Jamaica, VA – The excitement level and anticipation for one of the tracks premier events is at an all time high as Virginia Motor Speedway gets ready to host the $15,000 to win Aaron’s Fastrak World Championships presented by James River Equipment and Commonwealth Motorsports. The September 16-17, 2016 weekend will feature two complete shows for the FASTRAK Chevrolet Performance Late Models, Friday September 16 will be the $5000 to win, 40 lap World Challenge and on September 17 $15,000 to win, 60 lap World Championship is the “Super Bowl” of Chevrolet Performance Late Models and will crown a “World Champion”. Speedway and FASTRAK officials are also pleased to announce that the track has exercised its three year option and will be the host track of the FASTRAK World Championship for another three years. “We are excited to know that the FASTRAK World Championship is remaining at Virginia Motor Speedway for the next three years. I can’t thank Bill Sawyer enough for believing in what we are doing with the Chevrolet Performance Late Model division,” commented FASTRAK founder/owner Stan Lester. Joining the program on Saturday September 17th will be the first visit by the Southeast Dirt Modified Series for the $3000 to win “Southeast Modified Showdown”. Jamaica, VA – The excitement level for the 39th Annual Aaron’s USA 100 has been kicked up a notch or two with the announcement that the event will now be part of a the four race mini-series billed as the Colonial Clash Championship presented by Dirt Nation and also pay $15,000 to win. The Aaron’s USA 100 will be contested on Saturday June 4, 2016 as the third race in the four race mini-series and will once again be sanctioned by the Ultimate Super Late Model Series. The speedway has partnered with three other tracks in the region Georgetown Speedway (Georgetown, DE), Potomac Speedway (Budds Creek, MD) and Winchester Speedway (Winchester, VA) to put together a fantastic tour with a great point fund for the competitors that run all four events. All four shows will be sanctioned by the Ultimate Super Late Model Series. “We wanted to do something to bolster up car counts and try to bring in more of the traveling fans to our USA 100 event. We knew if we could work together with some of the other tracks and promoters in the region that we could do just that. It just shows that promoters can work together and have it be a good situation for everyone involved. The USA 100 was already a big event but when you add these other races along with the point fund and the increase in the purse for the event I believe we can turn up the excitement and bring more drivers, sponsors and race fans into the fold.” said Virginia Motor Speedway’s Bill Sawyer. On Thursday, June 2nd the mini-series will open at Delaware’s Georgetown Speedway for a $4000 to win, 40 lap event. On Saturday, June 4th the 39th Annual USA 100 features a purse boost and will pay $20,000 to win for the 60 lap feature. Jamaica, VA – Virginia Motor Speedway and FASTRAK Racing officials a excited to announce the formation of the 1st Annual Virginia State Quarterback Challenge. The event will feature some of the area’s high school quarterback’s competing to win their school a $1000 scholarship, bragging rights and a perpetual Trophy Cup that they will keep and display until next year’s event. “This is a chance for both the speedway and sanction to give back to the community and at the same time help excite a brand new segment of fans to our brand of racing,” commented track owner Bill Sawyer. The challenge will be run similar to the punt, pass and kick competition and will test the quarterback’s arm strength and accuracy. The throw will be judged on overall distance and distance from the center line. The throw will first be measured for distance and then subtract the distance from the center line to get an overall distance and determine the winner. “This is a great interaction between high school football and racing, two sports that just about everyone loves; more importantly it offers a chance for us to give back to our communities” commented FASTRAK Marketing Director Don Lester. Students from the competing high schools can use their student I.D. to attend the event for $5 and cheer on their schools quarterback. High Schools scheduled to compete are Middlesex High School in Middlesex, VA, Essex High School in Tappahannock, VA, Lafayette High School in Williamsburg, VA, Jamestown High School in Williamsburg, VA and Northumberland High School in Heathsville, VA. All this takes place during intermission of the $15,000 to win Fastrak World Championship presented by James River Equipment. Jamaica, VA – Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway returns to racing this Saturday September 5th to host Collision One / Aaron’s Championship Night and final week of the 2015 VMS Dirt Series season featuring the Victory Lap Late Model, Aaron’s Pro Late Model, Budweiser Modified, Truckin Thunder Sportsman and Collision One Limited Stock Car divisions in action. Champions in all five divisions will be determined by night’s end. In the Aaron’s Pro Late Model division third generation driver Tyler Bare of Rockbridge Baths, VA continues atop the standings even after second place Mark Parks of Lynchburg, VA picked up the win this past Saturday. Bare’s advantage over Parks is now 34 points. If Bare holds on to collect the championship he will become the third generation of his family to win a championship at the speedway. In the Budweiser Modified division defending champion Matt Quade Mechanicsville, MD continues to lead the points although he gave up one point this past Saturday in a race that featured him in a three way battle for the win with Joey Polevoy and eventual race winner Brian Maxey. Quade has a 25 point lead on Joey Polevoy of Powhatan, VA as they head into the final event. In the Truckin Thunder Sportsman division Chad Beahr of Mechanicsville, VA rebounded from a terrible finish on August 15th with a third place finish on Saturday. Beahr got back some of the points he had lost and now holds a 25 point advantage over Tommy Upshaw of West Point, VA. Former track champion Roger Jamerson of Mechanicsville, VA will try one more time to collect his 200th career victory before the season ends. And in the Collision One Limited Stock Car division Ryan Hutchens of Providence Forge, VA continues atop the standings with a 30 point advantage over Chad Champion of Beaverdam, VA.
