Corey Almond Holds Off Davis Lipscombe for the Win in Victory Lap Pro Late Model Action; Self, Hubbard, and Adkins Also Score Victories

Jamaica, VA – Corey Almond of Appomattox, VA, put on a dominating performance on the way to picking up the win in the Victory Lap Pro Late Model 30 lap feature on Pepsi Opening Night. Almond led flag-to-flag but had to hold off Davis Lipscombe of Mechanicsville, VA, in a three-lap shootout after a caution on lap 27. “When I saw that Lipscombe was behind me on that final restart, I knew that it was going to be OK; he has always raced me with respect. The goal this year is to get as many wins and top fives as possible so we have a shot at the championship at the end of the season,” commented Almond in Virginia Is for Racing Lovers victory lane. Corey Almond and Braeden Dillinger led the field to green, with Almond taking the lead on the drop of the green. Almond pulled away as they battled for second behind him. Billy Hubbard took over second on lap 13 and set out to catch Almond. A caution on lap 21 closed the field up on Almond’s bumper. But once they were back under green, Almond pulled away again. The race’s final caution on lap 27 set up a three-lap shootout for the win between Almond and Lipscombe. Almond would get a good jump on the drop of the green flag, but Lipscombe kept within a couple of car lengths. Almond would hit his marks and go on to pick up the win over Lipscombe, Billy Hubbard, Joey Love, and Nick Davis. In the Budweiser Modified 25-lap feature, NASCAR Camping World Truck Series driver Austin Self of Statesville, NC, made the trip to Virginia Motor Speedway pay off by picking up the Budweiser Modified victory. Michael Conley and Michael Pappas led the field to green, with Pappas taking the lead out of turn 2. Pappas would hold the lead for the first 11 laps with Self working his way to second from fifth. On lap 11, heading into turn 1, Self worked under Pappas and took the lead out of turn 2. Once out front, Self would pull away from three-time defending Champion Chase Butler. Over the last 11 laps, Butler tried to close the gap, but Self kept his composure and went on to win. Rounding out the top are Butler, Michael Pappas, Jeff Solinger, and Bret Hamilton. In the caution field Truckin Thunder Sportsman 25 lap feature, Matt Meads and Tyler Shipp led the field to green with Shipp taking the lead out of turn 2. During a lap 3 caution, Shipp would give up the lead by coming to pit road with mechanical issues. That handed the lead to defending champion Brett Adkins. Once under green, Adkins pulled away, leading the remaining laps for the victory. Rounding out the top 5 were Steve Causey, Matt Meads, Lucas Sandy, and Cole Johnston. The Joe Hudson’s Collision Centers Limited Stock Car 20 lap feature started off by honoring 4-time champion James Givens, who passed away unexpectedly in October of 2023. Brian Hubbard and Cory Bradley led the field to green, with Hubbard grabbing the lead out of turn 2. Hubbard would pull away from the battle for second between Trent Clemans and Cory Bradley. On lap 13, several of the division’s championship contenders got caught up in a wreck in turn 4. Once the field was back under green, Hubbard pulled away once again and went on to lead flag to flag for the victory. Rounding out the top five were Brandon Bowler, Christian Sherr, Hilton Pickeral, and Gregory Morgan. The speedway will take next weekend off and return to racing on Saturday, April 27, for week 2 of Dirt Series Championship Weekly Racing, featuring the Victory Lap Pro Late Model, Truckin Thunder Sportsman, Budweiser Modified, and Joe Hudson’s Collision Centers Limited Stock Car divisions in action. Speedway to Host The Year’s Richest Weekend for Pro Late Model Drivers, Friday and Saturday, September 23-24

Jamaica, VA – Pro Late Model racing’s richest weekend returns to Virginia Motor Speedway September 23-24, 2022, as it hosts the $50,000 to win FASTRAK World Championship presented by Dealer Group USA. Track officials are busy preparing the facilities for what is expected to be another record car count. The weekend will once again put the spotlight squarely on the country’s best Pro Late Model drivers. This mega race will pay the winner a whopping $50,000. The weekend will also include a $1500 to win non-qualifiers race for the fastest twenty-four cars from qualifying that don’t make the A-Main. It all kicks off Friday, September 23rd, with registration, tech, two rounds of hots laps, qualifying, and heats for the FASTRAK Pro Late Model competitors. The following night Saturday, September 24th, the FASTRAK Pro Late Model competitors will have B Main(s), the 60-lap $50,000 feature, and the non-qualifiers race. The 60-lap $50,000 to win feature will consist of two 30-lap segments with a 10-minute pit stop in the middle. Also, there will be a drawing for a new GM604 crate engine worth $7500 for the competitors that do not make either feature. The winner will take that engine when they leave for home. The event is open to all Pro Late Model competitors. FASTRAK rules will apply. In the event of rain, Sunday, September 25th, is scheduled as the rain date. Hoosier’s National Tire Shortage Forces Cancellation of This Weekend’s Prelude to the World Championship

Jamaica, Virginia – The current Hoosier tire shortage has forced officials at Virginia Motor Speedway and FASTRAK Racing to cancel this weekend’s Prelude to the World Championship event. After exhausting all avenues available to get enough FT200 and FT400 compounds to cover the number of cars expected to contend for the $3000 top prize, the difficult decision was to cancel the event for 2021. “We have been in conversations with Hoosier Tire for several weeks now about the number of tires available as it is not only affecting this FASTRAK tour event but also our weekly racing,” commented Virginia Motor owner Bill Sawyer. Sawyer added, “unfortunately, there are just not enough tires available for not only the Pro Late Models but also for two of our weekly divisions; there is just no way to get the tires manufactured in time for the event.” This cancellation comes on the heels of the track’s 45th annual USA 100 falling to rain. The cancellation will also affect the three weekly divisions scheduled to compete as support divisions to the FASTRAK Touring Series. “I support Bill and Virginia Motor Speedway’s decisions on this,” commented FASTRAK Racing Owner/Founder Stan Lester. “No different than our Charlotte event when we had to cancel it. That difficult decision made sure that our weekly tracks had tires. Even though many of our tour events have been canceled, it’s the responsibility of the series to ensure that our weekly tracks can race first, then the tour afterward. Hopefully, this move will ensure we have plenty of tires for the World Championship,” added Lester. 100% Chance of Rain Forces Cancellation of $20,000 to win USA 100

Jamaica, Virginia – With the impending weather forecast calling for a 100% chance of rain, management of Virginia Motor Speedway, Ultimate Super Late Model Series, and FASTRAK Racing have made the difficult decision to cancel the August 7th $20,000 to win Ernie Shelton’s USA 100. “The decision to cancel a race is the hardest thing we have to do as a promoter. But Mother Nature has forced a decision as we have too many drivers and fans coming from long distances. We don’t want to cause them any unnecessary costs for fuel and hotel rooms”, commented Virginia Motor owner Bill Sawyer. Sawyer added, “with over an inch of rain forecast and thunderstorms, it is the right decision for us to make with the information we have at our disposal.” Forecast data from multiple weather companies conclude that 90-100% chance of rain and over an inch of rainfall. “Unfortunately, Mother Nature is once again forcing us to make a decision we didn’t want to have to make. With the current forecast, this is the best decision for the teams, fans, and officials, all of whom are traveling considerable distances to attend the USA 100. Matt Quade and Justin Williams Take Pro Late Model Wins; Solinger and Brooks Become First-time Winners; Lipscombe, Butler, and Maxey Return to Victory Lane

Jamaica, VA – It didn’t take long for Justin Williams of Concord, VA to get to the front from his sixth-place starting position, two corners to be exact. On the drop of the green flag, Williams split the field getting to the front in a three-wide move that saw Williams grabbing the lead out of turn 2. Chuck Bowie and Jeremy Pilkerton led the field to green and as they raced into turn one it went three wide as Williams shot up through the middle of the field. Once out front, Williams began to pull away from the field. By lap 15 it looked as if Pilkerton was gaining on the leader, but Williams just put it in high gear and pulled away again. Williams would go on to score a dominating win, after a frustrating first race, for his fourth win of the season. “I think the two guys up front were playing games with each other which allowed me to make the move for the lead, once out front I just tried to make sure the tires stayed under me,” commented Justin Williams in WhosYourDriver.org victory lane. Rounding out the top five were Matt Glanden Josh Canipe, Matthew Hillebrand, and Ray Love, Jr. In the Budweiser Modified feature Lance Grady of Hanover, VA would grab the lead on the opening circuit but give up the lead to Jeff Solinger on lap 2. Chase Butler of Mechanicsville, VA would grab the lead on lap 10 from Solinger with an outside move out of turn 4. With the laps winding down Brandon Galloway, with the help of several cautions, closed up to the bumper of Butler pressuring him the lead. But Butler was up for the challenge scoring the win and becoming the first repeat winner in the Budweiser Modified division. Rounding out the top five were Galloway, In the Truckin Thunder Sportsman 30 lap feature Tim Shelton of Fredericksburg, VA led the first five laps before Davis Lipscombe of Mechanicsville, VA would take it 3-wide inside Shelton and Tyler Shipp to take the lead. Once out front Lipscpmbe would pull away from everyone but his teammate Shipp. Shipp tried to keep pace only to see Lipscombe go on to his sixth win of the season. Brad Rigdon would lead the first four laps until Williams would make a bold move on the outside to take the lead. Williams would lose the lead to Quade on a lap 16 restart when Quade would get under him out of turn 2. In the Budweiser Modified July 17 make-up feature Jeff Solinger of Bumpass, VA cored his career-first victory, leading flag to flag on way to the win. SPEEDWAY TO HOST HUGE NIGHT OF WEEKLY RACING THIS SATURDAY, JULY 31

Jamaica, VA – Virginia Motor Speedway will return to racing this Saturday, July 31st, and host week 9 of the Dirt Series Championship weekly racing season. The night will feature all four of the speedway’s Dirt Series Championship weekly divisions in action. See the Victory Lap Pro Late Models, Truckin Thunder Sportsman, Budweiser Modified, and Collision One Limited Stock Cars in some exciting side-by-side racing! After a storm washed out three of the scheduled features on July 17th, the speedway will make up those features before going into week 9 action. So you get twice the racing for one low price. The three divisions that will make up their features are the Victory Lap Pro Late Models. Budweiser Modifieds, and the Collision One Limited Stock Cars. You do not want to miss a minute of the action. Spectator gates open at 5 pm, with hot laps beginning at 6 pm and features starting at 7:30 pm. Competitor gates for Saturday, July 31st will open at 3 pm, and spectator gates opening at 5 pm. On-track activities will begin at 6 pm for hot laps, and features will start at 7:30 pm. Saturday, July 17th make up features: Victory Pro Late Models (30 Laps); Budweiser Modifieds (25 Laps); and the Collision One Limited Stock Cars (20 laps). Saturday, July 31st features: Victory Pro Late Models (30 Laps); Budweiser Modifieds (25 Laps); Truckin Thunder Sportsman (25 laps) and the Collision One Limited Stock Cars (20 laps). Davis Lipscombe REMAINS UNBEATEN IN Sportsman ACTION; Mother Nature Wins the Rest

Jamaica, VA – It took seven laps for Truckin thunder Sportsman point leader Davis Lipscombe of Mechanicsville, VA to get to the front and once out front went on to score his fifth win of the season. Once the checkered flag flew Mother Nature stepped in with a huge storm that caused the rest of the night to be canceled. Davis Lipscombe once again had to start eighth due to the tracks two win rule, but that only slowed him for the first seven laps. On lap 4 Lipscombe and Joshua Burnham would trade paint sending Burnham for a spin and to the rear. Two laps later Lipscombe got by leader Matt Ashworth out of run 4. Once out front lipscombe would cruise to the victory. Rouding out the top five were Tyler Shipp, Joshua Burnham, Steve Causey, and Matt Ashworth. Speedway Releases 2021 Marquee Event Dates

Jamaica, VA – After a year where the COVID-19 pandemic canceled racing activities for Virginia Motor Speedway, officials are excited to release the dates for the speedway’s 2021 marquee events. Fans are sure to want to mark their calendars for what will be another stellar year for special events at the ½ mile speed plant in Jamaica, VA. The season’s first marquee event will be held Thursday, April 15th, with the return of 410 sprint cars for a $15,000 to win, $1500 to start event. Thursday Night Thunder will once again feature the All Star Circuit of Champions sprint car series in action. The UMP Modified division will also be the support class for this must-see event. On Saturday, May 15th, the always exciting Ultimate Super Late Model Series will return for the $20,000 to win Virginia is for Racing Lovers King of the Commonwealth and a $3000 to win FASTRAK National event for Pro Late Models. August 7th, the Ultimate Super Late Model Series stars and cars will return for Ernie Shelton’s 45th Annual USA 100 and pay $20,000 to win. There will also be a $3000 to win FASTRAK National event for Pro Late Models. The FASTRAK Touring Series competitors will get one more chance to get dialed in for the $25,000 to win FASTRAK World Championship on Saturday, August 21st, with the $3000 to win Prelude to the World Championship. The event will mark the third $3000 to win event of the season for the Pro Late Model division. With the success of the 2019 FASTRAK World Championship, track owner Bill Sawyer announced that the event would once again make history and pay a whopping $25,000 to win Friday and Saturday, September 17-18, 2021. With 113 of the country’s best Pro Late Models in attendance for the 2019 edition, everyone is excited to see what 2021 has to offer.
