Fantastic Racing in Front of Huge Crowd at the 16th Annual Run-A-Muck Mud Bog

Jamaica, VA – Mother Nature tried to put a damper on the last event of 2023 at Virginia Motor Speedway. Still, Mud Bog competitors and fans showed out in big numbers for the 16th annual Run-A-Muck Mud Bog, presented by Breezeline and WhosYourDriver.org. The event was also sponsored by Northern Neck Chevrolet, Atkins Petroleum & Propane, Gary’s Transmission, After Hours Fabrication, Joe Hudson’s Collision Centers, Truckin Thunder, and Virginia is for Racing Lovers (VA Tourism). The enthusiastic crowd witnessed some incredible runs in the head-to-head Premier Mega Truck Racing Series mega trucks and the mud bog hill-n-hole pit. In one of the best events in history at the state-of-the-art facility, two division track records were broken in spectacular fashion. In the After Hours Fabrication Pro Mod division, the track record was broken three times at one event, all besting the old track record of 3.844 seconds held by Michael Sutphin in O.G. Highroller. First, Sutphin in O.G. High Roller lowered his own record with a pass of 3.819 seconds. Next, Donnie Miller in Black Truck broke the record with a pass of 3.789 seconds, and finally, Chris Bradshaw in Fast Money broke the record with a highlight reel pass of 3.683 seconds. Jamaica, VA – The Pit at Virginia Motor Speedway hit the trifecta this past Saturday with great weather, a huge crowd, and an overflowing pit full of competitors for the 18th Annual Run-A-Muck Mud Bog presented by Estes Express Lines and Breezeline. With the cool weather, horsepower was at a premium, providing the fastest-ever mud bog in the eighteen-year history of the facility with six new division track records. The event was also sponsored by Northern Neck Chevrolet, Atkins Petroleum & Propane, After Hours Fabrication, Collision One, Gary’s Transmission, and Truckin Thunder. Winners in each class: King of the Superstreet Mud Series (Super Stock A) – Brad Hall in Rampage; Super Stock B – Mike Braswell in Henry; Modified A – Blake Webb in Plan B; Modified B – Ray Atkins in Haulin Gas; Pro Mod A – Ray Atkins in Haulin Gas; Pro Mod B – Charlie Wood in Mudweiser; Unlimited Bog – Ray Atkins in Haulin Gas; Meg Truck – Gary Sabella in Old #6. Jamaica, VA – With the forecast calling for rain and possible thunderstorms today and tomorrow, officials at The Pit at Virginia Motor Speedway have decided to postpone the 13th Annual Mud Mayhem Mud Bog presented by Breezeline to a day to be determined. “We hate to have to postpone the mud bog, but with the amount of rain we have already had and the wet weekend forecast, we have to think of the safety of our competitors and fans,” commented General Manager Clarke Sawyer. Sawyer added, “we will look at the schedules of mud bog events in the Mid-Atlantic region and find a date that does not conflict with any of those events. Fans are sure to want to mark their calendars for what will be another stellar year for the state-of-the-art mud bog facility in Jamaica, VA. The Pit will host two of the East Coast’s premier mud bog events. The 13th annual Mud Mayhem will be held on Saturday, May 14th, and the 18th annual Run-A-Muck Mud Bog is scheduled for Saturday, October 8th, with a Saturday, October 17th rain date if needed. There will be eleven classes of “Mud Maniacs” in action ranging from super stock to unlimited, with cash payouts in all 11 divisions. Jamaica, VA – A large crowd witnessed some of the best mud trucks in the region, battling the very tough 200′ pit on Saturday, October 2, 2021, during the 17th Annual Run-a-Muck Mud Bog presented by Estes Expres Lines, Atlantic Broadband, and WhosYourDriver.org, and our associate sponsors Truckin Thunder, Collision One, Atkins Propane, E & E Caulking, Virginia Tourism Department / Virginia Is For Racing Lovers, Gary’s Transmission, and After Hours Fabrication. With the cameras of MAVTV on hand to film three Lucas On the Edge shows, the event saw a record number of Pro Mega Trucks (20) all vying for the $5000 top prize. When it was all said and done Joseph Hilton, driving Live Entertainment, took home the big check. Other winners were Blake Webb, driving Plan B, who won both Super Stock A & B, which also won him the Atkins Propane King of the Hill $500 bonus. Charlie Wood, driving Mudwesier, once again dominated both the Modified A & B divisions, again taking home the $500 Atkins Propane King of the Hill bonus. Chris Carver, driving UR Mom, took home the win in the Pro Mod A division, and Kevin Cozort, driving All Geared Up, took home the win in the Pro Mod B division. The event was also sponsored by Virginia is for Racing Lovers (VA Tourism), Northern Neck Chevrolet, Atkins Petroleum & Propane, Gary’s Transmission, After Hours Fabrication, Collision One, and Truckin Thunder. The enthusiastic crowd witnessed some incredible runs in both the mud bog and mud sling pits. In what was one of the fastest events in the history at the state-of-the-art facility, the Kelly O’Dell Sling Pit for the mud dragsters did not disappoint as it produced multiple track records. When the day was done, three-division track records were broken in spectacular fashion. In the WhosYourDriver.org X-Cut dragster division Palmer in The Show, set a new track record with a run of 1.990 seconds, breaking a record held by the late Kelly O’Dell that was set back in 2015. Also, in the WhosYourDriver.org X-Cut division, Travis shoemaker in Highroller 4 broke his own X-Cut Injector track record with a run of 2.008 seconds. And in the Victory Lap XX-Paddle Injector dragster division Keith Mitchell in The Magician set a new track record with a run of 2.045 seconds, lowering the record set by Travis Shoemaker in 2019. Overall, 76 different competitors took turns at the state-of-the-art 200-foot pit for a total of 160 registered passes.
