Speedway to Host Week 2 of Dirt Series Championship Weekly Racing this Saturday, April 30th

Jamaica, VA – Virginia Motor Speedway officials are excited to return to racing this Saturday, April 30th, and host week 2 of Dirt Series Championship weekly racing. On opening night at the ½ mile speed plant in Jamaica, VA, the racing was fantastic in all four of the speedway’s divisions. The night will feature the Victory Lap Pro Late Model, Truckin Thunder Sportsman, Budweiser Modified, and Collision One Limited Stock Car divisions in some exciting side-by-side action. On Saturday, April 30th, competitor gates will open at 3 PM, with spectator gates opening at 5 PM. On-track activities will begin at 5:45 PM for hot laps. Features will start at 7 PM. Divisions scheduled to race on Saturday will be the Victory Pro Late Models (30 Laps), Budweiser Modifieds (25 Laps), Truckin Thunder Sportsman (25 laps), and the Collision One Limited Stock Cars (20 laps). All divisions will run Hot Lap Time Trials and Features. Admission price for Adults $12, seniors (60+) / military (active/retired w/ proper I.D.) $10, students 13 – 17 years old $8 and children 12 and under admitted free. Pit passes will be $25. JUSTIN WILLIAMS HOLDS OFF RAY LOVE, JR FOR PRO LATE MODEL VICTORY AT VIRGINIA MOTOR SPEEDWAY; SOLINGER, SHELTON, AND MAXEY ALSO VISIT VICTORY LANE

Jamaica, VA – Defending Victory Lap Pro Late Model champion Justin Williams of Concord, VA held off fast qualifier Ray Love, Jr. LaPlata, MD to score the win on the opening night of the 2022 season. Williams’s race began by having to hold off Austin Hubbard over the first 15 laps of the 30 lap feature. Once in traffic Williams began to pull away from the field as Love made his move to take second from Hubbard. Love would take second on lap 20. The caution would fly on lap 21 to tighten the field on Williams’s bumper for the restart. Williams would get a good restart pulling Love by a couple of car lengths. The distance between them would disappear as Love began to reel in Williams with the laps winding down. With five to go Love was looking inside Williams in both corners trying to find an opening. Love would not be able to find one as Williams would hold on for the victory. Rounding out the top five were Hubbard, Nick Love, and Matthew Hildebrand. In the Budweiser Modified 25 lap feature Jeff Solinger of Bumpass, VA led flag to flag to pick up the victory. TJ DeHaven of Winchester, VA kept Solinger honest by staying within a car length throughout the entire 25 lap distance. Fast Qualifier Ryan Toole would have to pull in early on lap 11 with mechanical issues after taking the fourth spot. Rounding out the top five were Rick Hulson, Lance Grady, and defending champion Chase Butler. Tim Shelton of Fredericksburg, VA swept the night in Truckin Thunder Sportsman action by setting fast time and then leading flag to flag to score the victory. Steve Causey of Smithfield, VA would pressure Shelton for the first 21 laps before Shelton pulled away to take the victory by 3.55 seconds. Rounding out the top 5 were Matt Meads, Tommy Upshaw, and James Givens. In what may have been the most exciting race of the evening, Brian Maxey of Fredericksburg, VA held off Raymond Harper of Gloucester, VA to take home the victory by .205 seconds. Maxey would dart from his fourth-place starting spot to take the lead on the opening lap. On lap 8 Harper began to apply pressure to Maxey’s back bumper. On lap 13 Harper pulled door to door with Maxey heading into turn 3. Coming out of turn 4 Harper would spin doing a 360 and keeping his momentum going forward, but in the process losing ground to Maxey. A caution would fly and close Harper back on Maxey’s bumper for the restart. SPEEDWAY RELEASES TENTATIVE 2022 SCHEDULE OF EVENTS

Jamaica, VA – Virginia Motor Speedway officials are excited to release the 2022 schedule. It will mark the 53rd season of action at the ½ mile speed plant in Jamaica, VA. The schedule includes the always exciting VMS Dirt Series Weekly Racing action, the return of two Ultimate Super Late Model sanctioned events – the May 21st $20,000 to win Virginia is for Racing Lovers King of the Commonwealth and the August 6th $20,000 to win 46th Annual Ernie Shelton’s USA 100; the August 21st $3000 to win Prelude to the World Championship for FASTRAK Pro Late Models, and the return of the FASTRAK World Championship weekend, and two mud bogs at the facilities state-of-the-art 200 mud bog pit. The 2022 season will open on Saturday, April 9th, with Dirt Series Championship weekly racing action featuring a full program that will include the Victory Lap Pro Late Model, Truckin Thunder Sportsman, Budweiser Modified, and Collision One Limited Stock divisions in action. Hoosier’s National Tire Shortage Forces Cancellation of This Weekend’s Prelude to the World Championship

Jamaica, Virginia – The current Hoosier tire shortage has forced officials at Virginia Motor Speedway and FASTRAK Racing to cancel this weekend’s Prelude to the World Championship event. After exhausting all avenues available to get enough FT200 and FT400 compounds to cover the number of cars expected to contend for the $3000 top prize, the difficult decision was to cancel the event for 2021. “We have been in conversations with Hoosier Tire for several weeks now about the number of tires available as it is not only affecting this FASTRAK tour event but also our weekly racing,” commented Virginia Motor owner Bill Sawyer. Sawyer added, “unfortunately, there are just not enough tires available for not only the Pro Late Models but also for two of our weekly divisions; there is just no way to get the tires manufactured in time for the event.” This cancellation comes on the heels of the track’s 45th annual USA 100 falling to rain. The cancellation will also affect the three weekly divisions scheduled to compete as support divisions to the FASTRAK Touring Series. “I support Bill and Virginia Motor Speedway’s decisions on this,” commented FASTRAK Racing Owner/Founder Stan Lester. “No different than our Charlotte event when we had to cancel it. That difficult decision made sure that our weekly tracks had tires. Even though many of our tour events have been canceled, it’s the responsibility of the series to ensure that our weekly tracks can race first, then the tour afterward. Hopefully, this move will ensure we have plenty of tires for the World Championship,” added Lester. Matt Quade and Justin Williams Take Pro Late Model Wins; Solinger and Brooks Become First-time Winners; Lipscombe, Butler, and Maxey Return to Victory Lane

Jamaica, VA – It didn’t take long for Justin Williams of Concord, VA to get to the front from his sixth-place starting position, two corners to be exact. On the drop of the green flag, Williams split the field getting to the front in a three-wide move that saw Williams grabbing the lead out of turn 2. Chuck Bowie and Jeremy Pilkerton led the field to green and as they raced into turn one it went three wide as Williams shot up through the middle of the field. Once out front, Williams began to pull away from the field. By lap 15 it looked as if Pilkerton was gaining on the leader, but Williams just put it in high gear and pulled away again. Williams would go on to score a dominating win, after a frustrating first race, for his fourth win of the season. “I think the two guys up front were playing games with each other which allowed me to make the move for the lead, once out front I just tried to make sure the tires stayed under me,” commented Justin Williams in WhosYourDriver.org victory lane. Rounding out the top five were Matt Glanden Josh Canipe, Matthew Hillebrand, and Ray Love, Jr. In the Budweiser Modified feature Lance Grady of Hanover, VA would grab the lead on the opening circuit but give up the lead to Jeff Solinger on lap 2. Chase Butler of Mechanicsville, VA would grab the lead on lap 10 from Solinger with an outside move out of turn 4. With the laps winding down Brandon Galloway, with the help of several cautions, closed up to the bumper of Butler pressuring him the lead. But Butler was up for the challenge scoring the win and becoming the first repeat winner in the Budweiser Modified division. Rounding out the top five were Galloway, In the Truckin Thunder Sportsman 30 lap feature Tim Shelton of Fredericksburg, VA led the first five laps before Davis Lipscombe of Mechanicsville, VA would take it 3-wide inside Shelton and Tyler Shipp to take the lead. Once out front Lipscpmbe would pull away from everyone but his teammate Shipp. Shipp tried to keep pace only to see Lipscombe go on to his sixth win of the season. Rounding out the top five were Tyler Shipp, Matt Ashworth, Steve Causey, and Matt Meads. In the Collision One Limited Stock Car feature points leader Brian Maxy of King George, VA returned to his winning ways, grabbing the lead on the drop of the green flag and went on to score his fifth win of the season. Johnny Brooks, Cory Bradley, and Raymond Harper tried to keep pace to no avail as Maxey would cruise to the victory. Rounding out the top five were Johnny Brooks, James Givens, Cory Bradley, and Sean Otey. JULY 17 MAKE-UP FEATURES In the Victory Lap Pro Late Model July 17 make-up feature Matt Quade of Avenue, MD got under point leader Justin Williams on lap 16 to take the lead out of turn two and go on to score his first win of the season. Brad Rigdon would lead the first four laps until Williams would make a bold move on the outside to take the lead. Williams would lose the lead to Quade on a lap 16 restart when Quade would get under him out of turn 2. Quade would go on to score the win in front of Matt Glanden, Joey Love, Trevor Collins, and Curtis Hughes. In the Budweiser Modified July 17 make-up feature Jeff Solinger of Bumpass, VA cored his career-first victory, leading flag to flag on way to the win. SPEEDWAY TO HOST HUGE NIGHT OF WEEKLY RACING THIS SATURDAY, JULY 31

Jamaica, VA – Virginia Motor Speedway will return to racing this Saturday, July 31st, and host week 9 of the Dirt Series Championship weekly racing season. The night will feature all four of the speedway’s Dirt Series Championship weekly divisions in action. See the Victory Lap Pro Late Models, Truckin Thunder Sportsman, Budweiser Modified, and Collision One Limited Stock Cars in some exciting side-by-side racing! After a storm washed out three of the scheduled features on July 17th, the speedway will make up those features before going into week 9 action. So you get twice the racing for one low price.
