Jamaica, VA – The beginning of April at Virginia Motor Speedway is going to be action packed to say the least. To start it off the gates swing open to the track’s 2018 season of Aaron’s Dirt Series Championship weekly racing next Saturday April 7th with WRAR / WNNT Night at the races. Then the following week the focus will shift to the $20,000 to win Aaron’s King of the Commonwealth, the first of five special events scheduled for the season. The anticipation for the first race of the season has been escalating over the last several weeks and fans and competitors alike are excited to get the speedway’s 49th season underway. The 49thAnnual season opening event will take place on Saturday evening April 7th featuring a full program of Aaron’s Dirt Series Championship weekly racing action that will include the Victory Lap Pro Late Model, Truckin Thunder Sportsman, Budweiser Modified and Collision One Limited Stock divisions. Competitor gates for Saturday, April 7th will open at 12pm for inspection and registration for all competitors. Spectator gates opening at 5pm with on track activities beginning around 5pm with hot laps. There will be a mandatory drivers meeting at 4:45pm. Divisions scheduled to race on Saturday: Victory Lap Pro Late Models (35 Laps); Budweiser Modifieds (30 Laps); Truckin Thunder Sportsman (30 laps) and the Collision One Limited Stock Cars (25 laps). All divisions will run Hot Lap Time Trials and Features. The following week, Saturday April 14th, the stars and cars of the Ultimate Super Late Model Series invade the ½ mile speed plant in Jamaica, VA for the $20,000 to win Aaron’s King of the Commonwealth. The event will host some of the top regional and national super late model drivers in a must-see event. Jamaica, VA – This Saturday April 22nd Virginia Motor Speedway will host week 3 of the Aaron’s Dirt Series Championship weekly racing action featuring the Victory Lap Pro Late Model, Truckin Thunder Sportsman, Budweiser Modified and Collision One Limited Stock Car divisions. After two weeks of championship action the rivalries are heating up early this year. Both Tyler Bare of Rockbridge Baths, VA (Victory Lap Pro Late Model) and Joey Polevoy of Powhatan, VA (Budweiser Modified) both have back to back victories to start the 2017 season. Both drivers will not be able to start any closer than eighth this weekend due to the track’s two win in a row rule. It should make for a very exciting night of racing. The Truckin Thunder Sportsman and Collision One Limited Stock Car divisions have been ultra-competitive and will be exciting to watch this Saturday once racing resumes. Admission price for adults is only $12, seniors (60+) $10; military (active/retired w/ proper I.D.) $8, students 11 – 17 years old $6 and children 10 and under admitted free. Pit passes will be $20. Competitor gates for Saturday April 22nd will open at 3pm with spectator gates opening at 5pm. Driver’s Meeting – 5:45pm; On track activities will begin at 6:30pm with hot laps. Speedway Releases 2013 Schedule; Focus on Weekly Racing

Jamaica, VA – The tentative 2013 schedule for Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway has been released and includes 12 weeks of Virginia Army National Guard Dirt Series action. The focus for the 2013 racing season will be on weekly racing and continuing to grow our local fan and competitor base. During the 12 weeks of Virginia Army National Guard Dirt Series action the speedway will feature six nights of the very popular twin race format that was utilized during the last part of the 2012 season. Fans and competitors alike were thrilled with the format and have asked to see more of it in 2013. The track’s always competitive weekly divisions begin their race for the division Championships and the Virginia Army National Guard Dirt Series Championship on Saturday April 13th and end with the final point’s race of the season on Saturday September 14th. This year’s division line-up will once again include the Victory Lap Late Models, Truckin Thunder Sportsman, Budweiser Modifieds and the Collision One Limited Stock Cars. One special event tentatively on the 2013 schedule is the return of the Ultimate Super Late Model Series on Saturday May 18th. Details of that event will be released soon. Along with the weekly racing action the speedway will also host two mud bogs at its state of the art mud bog facility. On Saturday June 15th The Pit at VMS will host the 4th Annual Mud Mayhem and on Saturday October 5th the 9th Annual Run-A-Muck Mud Bog and Mud Sling presented by James River / Rappahannock Tractor and the Virginia Army National Guard. It’s a chance to win free tickets by correctly guessing the feature winners each week. To earn your chance at free tickets, first you need to “like” the Virginia Motor Speedway Facebook page. You then must make your guesses as to the feature winners in each of the four classes in the appropriate post which will go up every Tuesday. You need to select who you believe will win the feature in the Victory Lap Late Model, Truckin Thunder Sportsman, Budweiser Modified and Collision One Limited Stock divisions. The person with the most correct winners will win a free adult admission ticket to the next regular race program.
