Speedway Releases 2022 Super Late Model Special Event Dates

Jamaica, VA – Virginia Motor Speedway officials are excited to release the dates for the speedway’s 2022 Super Late Model special events. Fans are sure to want to mark their calendars for what will be another stellar year for super late model action at the ½ mile speed plant in Jamaica, VA. The speedway will host two of the East Coast’s premier Super Late Model events, the Virginia Is For Racing Lovers King of the Commonwealth and Ernie Shelton’s USA100, both will pay $20,000 to win. “The super late model events here at the speedway have been phenomenal; if these two dates are not on your calendar yet, they should be,” commented track owner Bill Sawyer. On Saturday, May 21st, the always exciting Ultimate Super Late Model Series will return for the $20,000 to win Virginia is for Racing Lovers King of the Commonwealth. Last season Brandon Overton of Evans, GA, took home the victory. August 6th, the Ultimate Super Late Model Series stars, and cars will return for Ernie Shelton’s 46th Annual USA 100 and pay $20,000 to win. “We are so very proud to have our schedule anchored by our two biggest events of the year at VMS. These two races are so important to our racers and the racers of the region. The Sawyer family has been such a blessing to our Ultimate and Fastrak programs. They have one of the top 5 facilities anywhere in the country, and the racing has been excellent every time we have been there. 100% Chance of Rain Forces Cancellation of $20,000 to win USA 100

Jamaica, Virginia – With the impending weather forecast calling for a 100% chance of rain, management of Virginia Motor Speedway, Ultimate Super Late Model Series, and FASTRAK Racing have made the difficult decision to cancel the August 7th $20,000 to win Ernie Shelton’s USA 100. “The decision to cancel a race is the hardest thing we have to do as a promoter. But Mother Nature has forced a decision as we have too many drivers and fans coming from long distances. We don’t want to cause them any unnecessary costs for fuel and hotel rooms”, commented Virginia Motor owner Bill Sawyer. Sawyer added, “with over an inch of rain forecast and thunderstorms, it is the right decision for us to make with the information we have at our disposal.” Forecast data from multiple weather companies conclude that 90-100% chance of rain and over an inch of rainfall. “Unfortunately, Mother Nature is once again forcing us to make a decision we didn’t want to have to make. With the current forecast, this is the best decision for the teams, fans, and officials, all of whom are traveling considerable distances to attend the USA 100. Above all else, we must keep our fans and competitors in mind,” commented FASTRAK International Companies Founder and President Stan Lester. Brandon Overton Holds off Rick Eckert by .119 second to Score $20,000 USA 100 Victory; Carson Ferguson Scores $3000 FASTRAK Win

Jamaica, VA – In the closest finish in Ultimate Super Late Model Series history Brandon Overton of Evans, GA held off Rick Eckert of York, PA by .119 seconds to score the $20,000 win in the 43rd annual USA at Virginia Motor Speedway. Overton would take the lead on lap 21 and looked to have the race in hand that is until lap 56 when Eckert began to pressure Overton for the lead. On the final lap Eckert worked under Overton in turn 3, the two raced side by side back to the finish line with Overton holding off Eckert for the win. “I was just holding on there the last couple of laps, I guess Billy (Vacek) was riding with us tonight; I wanted to win the other night at Fayetteville but I will take this $20,000 over that $10,000 any day,” commented a very emotional Brandon Overton in WhosYourDriver.org victory lane. Rick Eckert, Ross Bailes, Zack Mitchell, and Chris Ferguson rounded out the top five. In other action Carson Ferguson of Charlotte, NC was at the right place at the right time, taking the lead when race leader Layton Sullivan blew a right rear tire coming out of turn 4 heading to the checkers to score the $3000 victory in a caution-filled FASTRAK Racing Touring Series 40 lap feature. It was Ferguson’s third touring series win in a row. Rounding out the top five were Trevor Feathers, Layton Sullivan, Corey Almond and Ryan Adams. Ross Bailes and Michael Brown led the 30 car field to green with Brown taking the lead out of turn 2 followed by Chris Ferguson. Bailes would take second back on the next circuit. By lap 5 brown had worked to a two-car length advantage. The races first caution would fall on lap 7 for a stopped Corey Gordon in turn 4. On the restart, Bailes rocketed around Brown in turn 1 and 2 to take over the top spot. On lap 9 Brandon Overton went to second with an inside pass of Brown in turn 2. By Lap 16 Overton was within a car length of Bailes as they approached lapped traffic. On lap 18 Overton was on the back of Bailes as they began to enter the lapped traffic. On lap 20 Overton made his move, getting to the inside of Bailes out of turn 2. They raced side by side until turn 4 where Overton took over the lead. Eric Erwin would bring out the caution on lap 21 as he slowed in turn 4. On the restart Overton jumped out to a quick two-car length lead while Rick Eckert went from fifth to third in two corners, getting by Chris Ferguson and Brown. By lap 30 Overton was back in lapped traffic allowing Bailes and Eckert to close. Just as it looked like things were going to get interesting Trevor Feathers brought out the third caution of the race when his car slowed going down the backstretch. On the lap 32 restart, Overton once again jumped to a three car length advantage over Bailes and Eckert. On lap 36 Casey Roberts, who had made a run from twenty-eighth to tenth, slowed on the front stretch with mechanical issues. On the lap 36 restart Overton once again got a great jump on the field as Ferguson took back third from Eckert. ON lap 42 the best battle on the track was the one for third between Ferguson, Eckert and fourteenth starting Zack Mitchell. By lap 48 Eckert had taken third and Mitchell fourth. On lap 48 the races fifth caution would fall for Jamie Lathroum who came to pit road for a flat right rear tire. On lap 49 Bailes got inside Overton coming out of turn 4, Overton would hold at the line. On the next circuit, things got really interesting as Overton, Bailes, Overton and Mitchell were all battling for the lead. On lap 53 Eckert would dive under Bailes going down the backstretch. On lap 54 caution would fall for a stopped Jeff Smith in turn 4. On the races final green Overton and Eckert would jump out to a two car length on the rest of the field. On lap 56 Eckert worked his way inside Overton in turn 4 and then again in turn 2. On the final lap Overton led Eckert into turn 2 and down the backstretch. As the barreled into turn 3 Eckert got inside Overton, as they raced off turn 4 they raced side by side to the line with Overton holding off Eckert by .119 seconds for the victory. Heat race winners – Ross Bailes, Michael Brown, Chris Ferguson and Daulton Wilson. In the FASTRAK Touring Series, 40 lap feature Jensen Ford and Justin Williams led the 29 car field to green. The two raced side by side back to the line with Ford take the lead by inches at the line. In turn 1 Ford would get by to put some distance between himself and Williams. Ford would pace the field until lap 19 when Ford slowed coming out of turn 2 bringing out the caution. On the restart, Williams got a good jump on the field with Logan Roberson and Trevor Feathers in tow. A big crash involving seven cars on lap 26 would bring out a red flag for clean-up. It took five times to get the race restarted on lap 25 but once it did Williams began to pull away. On lap 34 Williams’ night came to an end when he blew a right rear tire sending him to the infield. That started the beginning of flat right rear tires going flat. First Trevor Feathers just after taking over the lead on the caution on lap 35, then Kyle Lear amongst others. Layton Sullivan would lead the field to green for the final time and looked to have his first career win only to blow a right rear tire coming out of turn 4 to the checkers, which allowed Carson Ferguson to take the $3000 victory over Trevor Feathers, Layton Sullivan, Corey Almond and Ryan Adams rounding out the top five. The Speedway will take the weekend of June 22 off and return to racing Saturday, June 29th and host week 6 of Dirt Series Championship weekly racing action featuring the Victory Lap Pro Late Model, Truckin Thunder Sportsman, Budweiser Modified and Collision One Limited Stock Car divisions. Speedway to host the 40th Annual Aaron’s USA 100 Saturday June 4th; Race 3 of the Colonial Clash Championship

Jamaica, VA – When the Ultimate Super Late Model Series visits Virginia Motor Speedway on Saturday June 4th for the $20,000 to win 40th Annual Aaron’s USA 100 presented by Commonwealth Motorsports several things will have changed dramatically for the storied event. In 2015 the event paid $10,000 to win and then at the start of the 2016 season track owner Bill Sawyer announced that the race would get a purse increase to $15,000 to win. But with the loss of the April 9th King of the Commonwealth Sawyer is bringing the $20,000 to win purse and sponsor over to the USA 100. “When we lost the April 9th King of the Commonwealth to of all things snow and cold weather, I decided we needed to make sure we took care of our sponsor Aaron’s as well as create some excitement for the USA 100, so we moved them and the $20,000 to win purse over to the USA 100,” commented track owner Bill Sawyer. Sawyer added, “With the event being the third race of the Colonial Clash Championship this should add even more excitement to what is already expected to be a phenomenal four night’s of racing.” The new Colonial Clash Championship will see the Ultimate Super Late Model Series competitors along with many of the Mid-Atlantics premier talent competing at four different tracks in four nights. Aaron’s USA 100 to Pay $20,000 to Win; Now part of Four Race Colonial Clash Championship Mini-Series

Jamaica, VA – The excitement level for the 39th Annual Aaron’s USA 100 has been kicked up a notch or two with the announcement that the event will now be part of a the four race mini-series billed as the Colonial Clash Championship presented by Dirt Nation and also pay $15,000 to win. The Aaron’s USA 100 will be contested on Saturday June 4, 2016 as the third race in the four race mini-series and will once again be sanctioned by the Ultimate Super Late Model Series. The speedway has partnered with three other tracks in the region Georgetown Speedway (Georgetown, DE), Potomac Speedway (Budds Creek, MD) and Winchester Speedway (Winchester, VA) to put together a fantastic tour with a great point fund for the competitors that run all four events. All four shows will be sanctioned by the Ultimate Super Late Model Series. “We wanted to do something to bolster up car counts and try to bring in more of the traveling fans to our USA 100 event. We knew if we could work together with some of the other tracks and promoters in the region that we could do just that. It just shows that promoters can work together and have it be a good situation for everyone involved. Jamaica, VA – Will there be a repeat winner this year in the 38th Annual TireX USA 100 at Virginia Motor Speedway? This Saturday May 16th we will find out when the stars and cars of the Ultimate Super Late Model Series return to battle for the $10,000 top prize. In the nine year history of the event has being held at the ½ mile speed plant in Jamaica, VA there has yet to be a repeat winner; a testament to the competition in the region and how hard it is to win at Virginia Motor Speedway. The excitement level is building among officials and fans alike as everyone anticipates a stellar field and race once again, especially after the fantastic show that the series competitors put on during the Aaron’s King of the Commonwealth held on April 11th. The list of previous Champions for this race is a list of “Who’s Who” in dirt late model racing. Fans can expect to see the best drivers on the East Coast competing for the top prize. Defending Ultimate Super Late Model Series Champion Dennis Franklin, Two-time Series Champion and current point leader Casey Roberts, Dustin Mitchell, Jeff Smith and the rest of the tour regulars will have their hands full with regional stars like defending TireX USA 100 Champion Chris Ferguson, Gregg Satterlee, Ricky Elliott, Walker Arthur, Dan Stone and Jamie Lathroum. Joining the Ultimate Super Late Model Series once again will be a $3000 to win FASTRAK National Tour event for Pro Late Models. The pairing offered up late model fans an outstanding night of racing during the April 11th Aaron’s King of the Commonwealth and is sure to be just as exciting come Saturday May 16th. This year’s format for the TireX USA 100 will be practice, qualifying, 10 lap heats, 10 lap B-Main(s) and the 50 lap $10,000 to win feature. Format for the $3000 to win FASTRAK National Tour Event will include practice, qualifying, heats, B-Main(s) and 40 lap feature. Competitor gates for Saturday May 16th will open at 3pm with spectator gates opening at 5pm. On track activities will begin at 6:00 pm with hot laps. Divisions scheduled to race on Saturday May 16th: ULTIMATE Super Late Models (50 Lap Feature); FASTRAK Pro Late Model National Tour (40 Laps). Adult tickets are just $20; seniors (60+) $18; military $15; students 11 – 17 years old $10; and children 10 and under free. Pit passes (regardless of age) will be $30. All tickets will be sold day of event. 16” coolers are welcomed but no glass is allowed. There is plenty of free lit parking and camping (no hookups) is allowed at no charge on a first come first served basis.
