Jamaica, VA – In just a few short days the 2015 season gets underway for Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway with the running of the $20,000 to win Aaron’s King of the Commonwealth. That means some of the nations top dirt late model drivers will be making the trip to the ½ mile speed plant located in Jamaica, VA. The event will be sanctioned by the Ultimate Super Late Model Series and will feature a 60 lap feature paying the winner a cool $20,000. It is the richest race of the season for Virginia Motor Speedway and the highest paying event on the Ultimate Super Late Model Series schedule. The event will also include a $3000 to win Fastrak Pro Late Model National Touring event. A Sunday April 12th rain date has been established if needed. Fans can expect to see the best in national and regional dirt late model drivers for this highly anticipated event. Defending Ultimate Super Late Model Series Champion Dennis Franklin, current point leader Dustin Mitchell, two-time series champion Casey Roberts, Jeff Smith, Casey Barrow and the rest of the Ultimate Series regulars will have their hands full as they compete against TireX USA 100 Champion Chris Ferguson, Ricky Elliott, Jason Covert, Jamie Lathroum and a host of other regional hot shoes for the top prize. Spectator gates open at 4pm with on-track action beginning at 6pm with hot laps for both divisions followed by qualifying, heats, B-Main(s) and features. Jamaica, VA – The buzz surrounding the Aaron’s King of the Commonwealth has prompted track owner Bill Sawyer to once again offer the fans an exceptional “Fan Friendly” ticket pricing package for the $20,000 to win, one-day show on Saturday April 11, 2015. This year’s event will be sanctioned by the Ultimate Super Late Model Series and will also feature at $3000 to win Fastrak Pro Late Model “National Bonus” event. “I think it’s important that we look after the working man’s pocketbook, to make it affordable for him to be able to come to Virginia Motor Speedway for our biggest show of the year. We want to put a very good ticket price out there and hopefully do the volume of numbers coming through the gate,” commented Track owner Bill Sawyer. Jamaica, VA — Officials at Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway are excited to announce the dates for the track’s two Super Late Model special events in 2015. As in past season’s the 2015 season will get the green flag with the running of the $20,000 to win King of the Commonwealth on Saturday April 11th. This year the event will be sanctioned by the Ultimate Super Late Model Series. A support division is being discussed and will be announced in the next few weeks. The second special event of the season will once again be the $10,000 to win USA 100 on Saturday May 16th and will once again be sanctioned by the Ultimate Super Late Model Series. The track will also host the 2015 Fastrak World Championship for Pro Late Models tentatively set for October 1-3, 2015. Look for the complete 2015 schedule to be released in the next two weeks....

Jamaica, VA – The 34th Annual USA 100 set for tonight May 18th at Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway has been cancelled due to rain and the extended forecast. A rescheduled date is being discussed with the Ultimate Super Late Model Series and will be announced at a later date. “This is very disappointing but with the rain we have had overnight and the forecast for even more today we felt it best to get the word out early and save our fans and teams the expense of getting to us and then having to call it anyway,” commented track owner Bill Sawyer. Sawyer added, “We will work with the Ultimate Series officials this coming week on a possible reschedule date that is suitable for the series and track.” The speedway will return to racing Saturday June 1st for Truckin Thunder Scout Night presented by the Virginia Army National Guard and week four of Virginia Army National Guard Dirt Series action. The night’s activities will include the 2nd Annual Truckin Thunder Dirtwood Nationals Pinewood Derby presented by the Virginia Army National Guard that will precede the action at the big track. There will be three divisions of competition for the pinewood derby – Scouts, Fans and VMS competitors. Gates will open at 2pm for registration and the 2nd Annual Dirtwood Nationals will start at 3pm. After the pinewood derby everyone is invited to stay for a night filled with exciting high octane, side by side dirt track racing and fireworks. All Scouts and Scout Masters in uniform will be admitted free in the grandstands. See the Victory Lap Late Model / Fastrak Pro Late Model, Truckin Thunder Sportsman, Budweiser Modified and Collision One Limited Stock Car divisions in a special twin race format. Competitor gates for Saturday, June 1st will open at 4pm with spectator gates opening at 5pm. On track activities will begin at 6:30pm with hot laps. Divisions scheduled to race on Saturday: Victory Lap Late Models (Twin 20 Laps); Budweiser Modifieds (Twin 15 Laps); Truckin Thunder Sportsman (Twin 15 laps) and the Collision One Limited Stock Cars (Twin 12 laps). All divisions will run Hot Lap Time Trials and Features. Admission price for Adults $12, seniors (60+) $10; military (active/retired w/ proper I.D.) $8, students 13 – 17 years old $6, children 7 to 12 $4 and children 6 and under admitted free. We offer a family pass for $25 (two adults and two children 12 and under). Scouts and Scout Masters in uniform will get free grandstand admission. Pit passes will be $20. Speedway to put Commonwealth 100 and USA 100 on Hold for 2013; Focus on Weekly Racing

Jamaica, VA – With the current economic climate and the uncertainty of the upcoming year Virginia Motor Speedway track owner Bill Sawyer has decided to place the Commonwealth 100 and USA 100 on hold. The speedway will focus on its weekly racing for the 2013 season and re-evaluate the running of the two special events at the end of next season. “This is purely a business decision. With the current economic climate I felt we are best served by focusing on our weekly racing program, our weekly competitors and our local fan base,” commented track owner Bill Sawyer.
