Speedway Crowns 2016 Champions; Polevoy crowned Aaron’s Dirt Series Champion

Jamaica, VA – Bill Sawyers Virginia Motor Speedway officially wrapped up the 2016 season by recognizing the top ten in each of the track’s divisions with special attention reserved for the 2016 champions. During the night’s events almost $36,000 in cash and prizes were awarded, of that almost $27,000 was in cash. Justin Williams of Concord, VA was crowned the 2016 Victory Lap Pro Late Model Champion and received a check for $5,000 for his efforts. Williams also received a $500 certificate from the Joie of Seating, a custom calendar from Al Goulder Photography, his Championship helmet trophy and his Champions jacket from Hoosier Tire Mid-Atlantic. The title was Williams fourth in a row after winning the last three Limited Late Model titles at Virginia Motor Speedway. Roger Jamerson of Mechanicsville, VA was crowned the 2016 Truckin Thunder Sportsman Champion and received a check for $1,000 for his efforts. Jamerson also received a $500 certificate from the Joie of Seating, a custom calendar from Al Goulder Photography, his Championship helmet trophy and his Champions jacket from Hoosier Tire Mid-Atlantic. This was Jamerson’s twelfth Truckin Thunder Sportsman title and thirteenth overall. Jamerson also scored his 200th win of his career during the 2016 season. Joey Polevoy of Powhatan, VA was crowned the 2016 Budweiser Modified Champion and received a check for $1,000, a $500 certificate from the Joie of Seating, a custom calendar from Al Goulder Photography, his Championship helmet trophy and his Champions jacket from Hoosier Tire Mid-Atlantic. Ryan Hutchens of Providence Forge, VA won the 2016 Collision One Limited Stock Car Championship for the second year in a row. Hutchens received a check for $700, a $500 certificate from the Joie of Seating, a custom calendar from Al Goulder Photography his Championship helmet trophy and his Champions jacket from Hoosier Tire Mid-Atlantic. The speedway also crowns an overall Aaron’s Dirt Series Champion which pits all four divisions against each other. Joey Polevoy on the strength of his four wins won the overall Championship and received a $2000 check and the special eagle trophy that goes along with winning the title. Aaron’s also presented Polevoy with a 40” Magnavox Smart LED HDTV television. Special achievement award winners for the 2016 season included: The Pitts Lumber Rookies of the Year were Brent Bordeaux of Fredericksburg, VA in Victory Lap Pro Late Models; Sean Owens of Chesapeake, VA in Truckin Thunder Sportsman; Adam Hoegerl of Gloucester, VA in Budweiser Modifieds and Ryan Hutchens of Providence Forge, VA in the Collision One Limited Stock Car division. Each winner received a plaque and $250. It was announced during the banquet that the season will start April 1, 2017 with Aaron’s Dirt Series Championship weekly racing and that the Aaron’s King of the Commonwealth, USA 100 presented by Commonwealth Motorsports, both sanctioned by the Ultimate Super Late Model Series, will pay $20,000 as will the season ending FASTRAK World Championship presented by James River Equipment for FASTRAK Pro Late Models....

Safety-Kleen, National Guard Night this Saturday August 20th; All Military Personnel get in free

Jamaica, VA – Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway will return to action this Saturday August 20th and host Safety Kleen / NAPA of King William / Virginia Army National Guard / Friends of NRA Night featuring four divisions of Virginia Army National Guard Dirt Series action. See the Victory Lap Late Model, Truckin Thunder Sportsman, Budweiser Modifies and the Collision One Limited Stock divisions. Come experience the raw, pure excitement that is dirt racing! The night’s activities will include the NRA Wall of Guns raffle, hunting and boating displays by the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries and much more. Anyone presenting their NRA membership card or a valid hunting or fishing license will get in for $5. Also, any military personnel active or retired just show your I.D. card and get in free. Competitor gates for Saturday, August 20th will open at 4pm with spectator gates opening at 5pm. On track activities will begin at 6:30pm with hot laps. Jamaica, VA — Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway will return to action this Saturday August 13th and host NAPA of King William / Virginia Army National Guard Night featuring four divisions of Virginia Army National Guard Dirt Series action. See the Victory Lap Late Model, Truckin Thunder Sportsman, Budweiser Modifies and the Collision One Limited Stock divisions. Come experience the raw, pure excitement that is dirt racing! On the grounds will be the National Guard AMA Pro Superbikes and simulator; the #29 National Guard Late Model of Brandon Butler and the Rolling Thunder Humvee. Competitor gates for Saturday, August 13th will open at 4pm with spectator gates opening at 5pm. On track activities will begin at 6:30pm with hot laps.
