Randy Weaver Crowned Aaron’s King of the Commonwealth; Walker Arthur Wins $3000 FASTRAK National Tour Event

Jamaica, Virginia (April 11, 2015) – Coming into the ULTIMATE Super Late Model Series sanctioned Aaron’s King of the Commonwealth at Virginia Motor Speedway the name being talked about more than any other was the white-hot Randy Weaver of Crossville, Tennessee. After all, the 45 year old driver was off to his best season start of his career having won each of the 4 events he had entered thus far. So most of the dirt late model world was wondering if Weaver could keep his winning streak alive at a facility he had never even seen before. And what was Weaver’s answer? A resounding yes in the form of a dominating win that saw him set overall fast time, win his heat race and lead every lap of the sixty lap feature to garner the biggest payday of his career. “The good Lord is being real good to me right now and I don’t know why. I owe everything to Him. But man what a race car and crew. I’m tellin’ ya anybody in them grandstands can drive this thing. It about drives itself. And Josh and Grant and my owners Chip and Rusty Stone are here this weekend. This awesome Cornett power. This Longhorn Chassis, everywhere we go…I mean I have never seen this place, I have just heard great things about it, and I can’t believe that my name is in history down here now.” said a very jubilant Weaver in his victory lane interview. Weaver picks up his second ULTIMATE Super Late Model victory of the season which is his richest to date. “What an incredible facility here. This is just an awesome place. For promoters to take a chance like this in our sport…we really appreciate facilities like Virginia Motor Speedway.” In other action Walker Arthur of Forest, VA dominated on way to a $3000 victory during the 40 lap FASTRAK National Tour event. It was the inaugural race for the new FASTRAK National Tour. At the drop of the green flag for the Aaron’s King of the Commonwealth Weaver surged to the lead. And while out front Weaver’s progress was only slowed as he encountered lapped traffic it was a very different story behind him. Davenport and Zeigler waged a battle for the runner-up spot from the outset. Davenport was able to slip into 2nd on the opening lap. However on the 4th circuit Zeigler was able to use his outside line to grab 2nd while Bloomquist and Chris Madden gave chase from the 4th and 5th positions. Davenport continued to stalk Zeigler and when Bloomquist jumped into the mix, Davenport turned up the wick. Bloomquist rolled by Davenport down the back straightaway but Davenport would have no part of it. He drove his Longhorn machine to the high side of turns 3 and 4 moving back by Bloomquist and setting up Zeigler for the slider through turns one and two to retake the 2nd position. Up front Weaver was cruising but beginning to encounter back marker traffic. Weaver was able to negotiate the lap machines with relative ease as he was able to move his race car all over the track when he needed to. However Weaver’s only real scare of the event came as he was attempting to put Ricky Elliott down a lap. Weaver entered turn 3 hard in order to slide by the high running Elliott. Weaver’s machine began to hop wildly as he slid up the track. No harm, no foul for Weaver however as the yellow waved for the final time of the night when Earl Pearson, Jr. stopped on the track. Weaver was able to continue with no issues after the scare. “I thought I had knocked the tires off it there. I heard them call for the caution and I was checking up as it was sliding to the outside. I shook it back and forth and made sure everything was still under me.” Weaver added. Under him it was as he powered away on the final restart and held on to win the $20,000 winner’s purse. Davenport settled for 2nd and Bloomquist finished in the 3rd position. In addition to the nice payday, event title-sponsor Aaron’s Inc. presented Weaver with a new 49” LG 4K Ultra HD Television as a part of the Aaron’s “Best Seat in the House” Promotion. The win was Weaver’s 5th in a row for 2015 and brought his 2015 winnings to over $45,000. To say the first ever FASTRAK National Tour event was a success would be an understatement as 37 of the East Coast’s top Pro Late Model ushered in a new era in FASTRAK racing. Local favorite and former track champion Walker Arthur of Forest, VA etched his name into the record books by winning the first event FASTRAK National Tour event in dominating fashion. The first ever National Tour race was a companion event for the Aaron’s King of the Commonwealth sanctioned by its sister series the Ultimate Super Late Model tour. “We’ve turned a lot of laps around this place but this has to be one of the biggest wins I have ever had here at VMS. The car has been so good all year and it ran just flawless tonight; event though we didn’t do as well as we want in the Super Late model tonight, we are super excited about winning the first ever FASTRAK National Tour event here at our home track,” commented Arthur in victory lane. At the drop of the green flag Arthur rocketed to the lead from his pole position as David Smith, Jimmy Schiltz, Daniel Baggerly and Mark Parks went four wide to decide second. With the action behind him Arthur pulled away to a comfortable lead. By lap 11 Arthur began working lapped traffic while the battle for second continued between Smith, Parks and Schiltz. At the halfway point Arthur maintained almost a full straight lead over the field while masterfully working lapped traffic. With plenty of two, three and even four wide racing behind him Arthur continued to stretch out the lead. On lap 20 Kennie Compton Jr. joined the battle for second picking off drivers one by one until he finally claimed the spot from Smith on lap 30. With 10 laps remaining Compton tried to reel in the leader but Arthur was too strong going on to take the $3000 victory with Compton, Smith, Parks and Schiltz, Matt Long, 2014 FASTRAK World Champion Tim Dohm, Dillon Brown, Daniel Baggerly and Jared Powell rounding out the top ten. In addition to Arthur’s $3000 payday, event title-sponsor Aaron’s Inc. presented Arthur with a new 49” LG 4K Ultra HD Television as a part of the Aaron’s “Best Seat in the House” Promotion. The Fast Time Award went to Dillon Brown with a time of 18.563 seconds. Heat race wins went to Walker Arthur, David Smith, Daniel Baggerly and Jimmy Schiltz. B-Main wins went to Jimmy Duncan and Colby Cannon. Jonathan Davenport Crowned King of the Commonwealth; Matt Quade Takes Lucky Dog 30

(By Kelley Carlton and Dave Seay) Jamaica, Virginia (April 12, 2014) – The Aaron’s King of the Commonwealth was on Jonathan Davenport and Kevin Rumley’s list of high priority events. Not that every event isn’t important, but the King of the Commonwealth is a victory that both driver and his race team highly coveted. Both have been very successful at Bill Sawyer’s beautiful Virginia Motor Speedway over the years. On Saturday they both added another big check mark to their to-do list when Davenport overtook early leader Billy Moyer, Jr. on lap 17 and held off a hard charging Scott Bloomquist in the late stages of the 60-lapper to claim the $20,000 winner’s check. The win also propelled Davenport into a tie with Chris Madden for the National Dirt Racing League point lead. Davenport was fastest in Group A of Keyser Manufacturing Time Trials lowering the Virginia Motor Speedway track record with his lap of 16.745 seconds around the ½ mile oval. However it was Hall of Famer Scott Bloomquist in Group B who picked up the Bell Helmets Fast Time Award when he obliterated the record Davenport had just set. Bloomquist tripped the clock at a mind boggling 16.509 seconds. Earl Pearson, Jr., Chris Madden and Don O’Neal rounded out the top 5 qualifiers. Heat Race action was insane with wins in the 10 lappers going to Davenport, Billy Moyer, Gregg Satterlee and Billy Moyer, Jr. Finishing second in heats and going to the redraw were O’Neal, Madden Bloomquist and Dennis Erb, Jr. A pair of Delaware drivers – Kenny Pettyjohn and Austin Hubbard scored wins in their respective B-Mains and making the feature event. Series provisional starts went to Kent Robinson, John Blankenship and Mason Zeigler. At the outset of the event it was pole sitter Billy Moyer, Jr. that took command while Davenport sliced through the middle of a 3-wide melee in turn one to move to second. With the remainder of the field locked in a double formation to complete lap one. Moyer moved away as Davenport had to fend of challenges from Billy Moyer and Gregg Satterlee. Madden and Bloomquist were battling door to door while up front Davenport began to reel in Moyer, Jr. as they both began to encounter backmarker traffic. By lap 15 Davenport was all over Moyer, first stepping outside but finally making the move around the hub. Bloomquist slipped by Madden and set after Moyer, Sr. as they both drew to Moyer, Jr.’s rear deck. Over the next several laps the Moyers raced wheel to wheel with the elder finally covering the spot. The pass also allowed Bloomquist to close in on Moyer, Jr. and take another spot away one lap later. After the halfway mark Davenport was in heavy traffic and Moyer, Sr. was able to close down on his fellow Longhorn Chassis driver. Moyer began to put some pressure on Davenport, nosing alongside the leader on multiple occasions. But the race for the lead was quelled when the event’s lone yellow flag waved for a stalled Bub McCool. For the restart Moyer opted for the inside which moved Bloomquist to the outside. When Davenport brought the field back to green Bloomquist made his move for second. Sweeping around the outside of turn 2 Bloomquist took over second and set after the leader. With only 10 laps remaining Bloomquist pulled to Davenport’s rear deck. Bloomquist threw all he had at Davenport but a slick move past a lapped car coming to the white flag sealed the deal. The move gave Davenport just enough open space to grab the checkers and the $20,000 check. In the Budweiser Modified Lucky Dog 30 Matt Quade and Jimmy Duncan led the field to green in search of a $3000 payday. On the start Quade took over the top spot with Duncan in tow. On lap 7 Bret Hamilton would get under Duncan for third. With Quade in total control of the race Hamilton and Joey Polevoy battled for third on lap 18. On lap 23 Polevoy got by Hamilton for third. On lap 26 Ryan Toole took over fourth with a strong move in turn 1. A late caution on lap 28 would close the field on Quade’s bumper for the final restart. As in previous restarts Quade would pull away and go on to the $3000 payday followed by Michael Reynolds, Joey Polevoy, Ryan Toole and Bret Hamilton rounding out the top five. The speedway will return to racing next Saturday April 19th to host opening night of the 2014 season for all five of the Virginia Army National Guard Dirt Series divisions. Bloomquist Banks Big Check in Commonwealth 100 Victory

Jamaica, VA – Scott Bloomquist of Mooresburg, TN scored his first Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series victory of the year on Saturday Night at Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway. Bloomquist took over the lead when Dennis Erb, Jr. of Carpentersville, IL suffered a flat tire just 11 laps from the finish. Bloomquist then went on to lead the rest of the way to earn a $25,000 payday in taking his first-career Commonwealth 100 win. The event was taped by Lucas Oil Studios for airings on SPEED, MAVTV, and NBC Sport Network. The track was re-worked before the main event kicked-off. Bloomquist started 18th and entered the top five for the first time with 38 laps scored. He then moved to second and trailed John Blankenship of Williamson, WV for several laps until Blankenship blew a tire with 13 laps remaining. “It feels great to get back to Lucas Oil Victory Lane,” said the Hall of Fame driver. “It has been a rough start to the year, but I knew if we kept digging we were going to get one here sooner rather than later,” said an elated Bloomquist afterwards. “My hats off to the track crew, they went out and worked the track, I saw a lot of drivers going to a softer compound of tire to run, but we actually kept our hard compound on and it paid off. We got off to a good start in the race and the car worked really well, we passed a ton of cars early on and then got behind John (Blankenship) and followed him for a number of laps until his tire gave out.” “It’s nice to win at such a great facility, it looked like they had one of their best crowds tonight and we look forward to coming back here in September,” said the 2-time LOLMDS Champion who notched his 43rd career win on the series. Bloomquist also won the USA 100 last September. The story of the race was Erb. He had the dominant car for almost the entire distance, but with 11 laps to go his right rear tire gave out. Erb and Jared Landers battled hard in the first 18 laps of the race until Erb, who started fifth gained the lead. Erb led a total of 72 laps, and was unchallenged for most of those circuits as he was primed and ready to score the biggest win of his racing career. It was not to be, as he was coming off of turn two with 89 laps scored, he suddenly slowed forcing a caution flag. Bloomquist went unchallenged the rest of the way to score the win in his Hawkeye Trucking, Base Racing Fuels, Lucas Oil Products, Sweet Mfg., Lane Automotive, Ohlins, Weld Racing, and Allstar Performance sponsored Bloomquist Race Cars Ford. His car is powered by a Roush-Yates Engine. Earl Pearson Jr. of Jacksonville, FL came home in second after starting 26th in the Bobby Labonte Racing, Lucas Oil Products, Longhorn Dodge. It was Pearson’s best finish of the season as the 4-time LOLMDS champion tried to stay with Bloomquist in the final laps. Don O’Neal of Martinsville, IN came from 15th to finish third in the Optima Batteries, Jay Dickens Racing Engines, MasterSbilt House Car. Former Commonwealth 100 race winner, Chris Madden of Gaffney, SC roared through the field from 24th to grab fourth in the Baird Transport, Cornett Racing Engines, Bloomquist Race Cars Chevrolet. Jonathan Davenport of Blairsville, GA came in fifth with the Clint Bowyer Racing, Georgia Boots, Barry Wright Toyota. Completing the top ten were defending race winner, Steve Shaver of Vienna, WV; Jared Landers of Batesville, AR; Eric Wells of Hazard, KY; Jimmy Owens of Newport, TN, who suffered a flat tire on the final lap dropping him to ninth. Shane Clanton of Fayetteville, GA completed the top ten.
