Speedway Crowns 2013 Champions; Ender, Adkins, Reynolds and Sandridge get Championship Night wins

Jamaica, VA – Brett Adkins and Brandon Sandridge both capped off their title seasons with wins on Safety-Kleen, Chandler Chevrolet Championship Night at Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway. Adkins picked up the win and championship in the Truckin Thunder Sportsman feature by nipping Junior Carter at the line by .055 seconds and in the Collision One Limited Stock Cars Brandon Sandridge took over the lead from Shawn Otey on lap 16 and went on to take the win. Also winning 2013 Championships were Justin Williams (Victory Lap Late Models); Jimmy Duncan (Budweiser Modified) and Davis Padula (Fastrak Pro Late Model). Also getting wins on Championship night were Joe Ender (Victory Lap Late Model) and Mike Reynolds (Budweiser Modified). In a special $1000 to win “Winner Take All” Late Model Shootout Justin Williams used the highside to chase down Troy Williams to take the lead with three to go to take home the cash. In the Victory Lap Late Model 35 lap feature Joe Ender and Justin Williams led the field to green with Ender taking the lead on the opening circuit. Ender set a torrid pace as the rest of the field battled for second. Williams tried to close the gap in the closing laps as the tow worked lapped traffic but Ender was able to take home the win, his second of the season. Rounding out the top five were Justin Williams, Troy Williams, Tim Shelton and Billy Tucker. Davis Lipscombe picked up the win in Fastrak Pro Late Models. In the Budweiser Modified 25 lap feature Joey Polevoy took the lead on the opening lap and would set the pace for the first nine laps before spinning and handing the lead over to Bret Hamilton. Hamilton would pace the field for two laps until Mike Reynolds took over the top spot on a lap 11 restart. Once out front Reynolds set sail and went on to take the win. Eric Erwin, Josh Harris, Joey Polevoy and Jimmy Dunca rounded out the top five. In the Truckin Thunder Sportsman 25 lap feature Brandon Coates and Hunter Ashworth led the field to green. Ashworth would lead the first lap but would surrender the lead to Junior Carter on the following lap. Once out front it looked as if Carter would run away with the win but Brett Adkins had other ideas. Adkins, with the help of lapped traffic, closed in on Carter over the last five laps of the race. Coming to the checkered flag Adkins dove under Carter they worked traffic out of four and at the line Adkins picked up the win by .055 seconds. Rounding out the top five were Junior Carter, Roger Jamerson, Hunter Shelton and Michael Roop. In the Collision One Limited Stock Car 20 lap feature Shawn Otey and Ryan Hutchens led the field to green with Otey taking the point. Otey would lead the first 15 laps with Brandon Sandridge in hot pursuit. On lap 15 Sandridfge dove under Otey coming out of turn 2 and took the lead at the line. Jimmy Duncan Doubles up in Modified action; Williams, Padula, Adkins and Givens also get wins

Jamaica, VA – Jimmy Duncan of Fredericksburg, VA emerged the big winner at Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway as he swept both events for the Budweiser Modifieds on Collision Once, Xtra 99.1 Night. Other winners included Justin Williams in Victory Lap Late Models, David Padula in Fastrak Pro Late Models, Brett Adkins in Truckin Thunder Sportsman and Wesley Givens in Collision One Limited Stocks. Twin races for were scheduled for each division but after the second feature for the Budweiser Modifieds rain began to fall ending the nights activities. The first Budweiser Modified feature started with a tribute to the late Donnie Smith whose 1$ modified paced the four wide salute to the fans. On the drop of the green flag Mike Reynolds jumped out to an early lead followed closely by Jimmy Duncan, Joey Polevoy and Russell Erwin. For the first 10 laps Reynolds was able to keep Duncan and Erwin at bay but on lap 11 Reynolds slipped just a bit in turn 2 allowing Duncan to get by the for the lead and Erwin to go by for second. Duncan then went on to take the win over Erwin with Reynolds, Polevoy and Chris Arnold rounding out the top five. In the second feature it got three wide real quick as Jimmy Duncan, Joey Polevoy and Russell Erwin all raced out of turn 2 looking for the lead. Duncan would lead the first lap but his stay would be short lived as Erwin took over the top spot on the next lap. Two laps later Erwin would slow in turn 4 and take it to the pits handing the lead back to Duncan. Polevoy tried several times to take away the top spot but Duncan was too strong and went on to win his second feature of the night followed by Polevoy, Chris Arnold, James Sparks and Neal Hudgins. In the Victory Lap Late Model / Fastrak Pro Late Model feature Justin Williams would start on the pole and lead every lap in a dominating performance to pick up the win in the victory Lap Late Models. Tim Shelton and John Staton would put on a show for second as the two swapped the position back and forth multiple times before Shelton took the position for good followed by Staton, Billy Tucker and Troy Williams rounding out the top five. The highest finishing Fastrak Pro Late Model was David Padula. In the Truckin Thunder Sportsman it was the same old story as Brett Adkins picked up this seventh win of the season with Roger Jamerson, Davey Pullen, Junior Carter and Hunter Shelton rounding out the top five. The Collision One Limited Stock Car feature was probably the most entertaining as five drivers had a shot at the win. Wesley Givens, Marty Coltrain, Ryan Hutchens, Brian Maxey and Brandon Sandridge battle three wide for much of the 12 lap affair with Givens coming out the victor. The win was his sixth of the season. Rounding out the top five were Ryan Hutchens, Brian Maxey, Brandon Sandridge and Travis Hopkins.
