Jamaica, VA – Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway will take the weekend of May 26th off and return to racing Saturday June 2nd with week five of Virginia Army National Guard Dirt Series action. The evenings events will include four divisions of exciting high octane, side by side dirt track racing. See the Victory Lap Late Model, Truckin Thunder Sportsman, Budweiser Modified and Collision One Limited Stock Car divisions in action. Competitor gates for Saturday, June 2nd will open at 4pm with spectator gates opening at 5pm. On track activities will begin at 6:30pm with hot laps. 2012 Commonwealth 100 driver entry list heavy with Champions

Jamaica, VA – With the 3rd Annual Commonwealth 100 at Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway just four weeks away the driver’s list is looking like a who’s who in dirt late model royalty. Leading the list of drivers expected to be competing for the $25,000 top prize is the event’s defending champion Steve Shaver of Vienna, WV driving the familiar K&L Rumley Enterprises #6 Rocket. Shaver was masterful in his approach to last year’s event, dominating the event to take home the top prize. For anyone that knows the history of Virginia Motor Speedway they also know that the K&L Rumley car will always be in contention for the win. Adams, Traylor, Arnold and Givens crowned Champions at Virginia Motor Speedway; Traylor crowned VA Army National Guard Dirt Series Champion

Jamaica, VA – Bill Sawyers Virginia Motor Speedway wrapped up the 2011 season by recognizing the top ten in each of the track’s divisions with special attention reserved for the 2011 champions. During the night’s events almost $34,000 in cash and prizes were awarded, of that almost $28,000 was in cash. This year’s championships saw two familiar faces and two drivers picking up career first championships. Scott Adams of Chester, VA was crowned the Victory Lap Late Model Champion for the second consecutive year and received a check for $5,000 for his efforts. Adams also received an invitation to the Rocket Chassis Race Wise Chassis School, a $500 certificate from the Joie of Seating, a custom calendar from Al Goulder Photography and his Championship helmet trophy and jacket. The speedway also crowns an overall Virginia Army National Guard Dirt Series Champion which pits all four divisions against each other and in the closest battle in the six year history of the championship Truckin Thunder Champion Todd Traylor of King William, VA beat out Victory Lap Late Model Champion Scott Adams and Budweiser Modified Champion Dan Arnold to take the overall championship and the $2000 check and special eagle trophy that goes along with it. The season is scheduled to start Saturday March 31st with an open practice. This year’s $25,000 to win Commonwealth 100 will be sanctioned by the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series and will run April 13-14, 2012 with a Sunday April 15th rain date. The Ultimate Super Late Model Series is scheduled to return on Saturday May 19th for a $10,000 to win event and the 2012 season ender will be the 33rd Annual USA 100 that will now pay $20,000 to win an become a two day show September 14 – 15th, with a Sunday Sept. 16th rain date established. Rain Forces Cancellation of Final Race of the Season

Jamaica, VA – Rain and the forecast for more thunderstorms has forced officials at Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway to cancel Truckin Thunder / Collision One / WIGO Championship Night activities for Saturday, September 24th. “This is not the way we wanted to end the season, but we have run out of weekends for the 2011 season. To say we are disappointed would be an understatement, this is the second time we have had to cancel Championship Night,” commented track General Manager Clarke Sawyer. With the rain out the 2011 Virginia Army National Guard Dirt Series track championships have been decided. In the Victory Lap Late Model division Scott Adams of Chester, VA wins his second consecutive late model title. In the Truckin Thunder Sportsman division Todd Traylor of King William, VA wins his first title. In the Budweiser Modified division Dan Arnold of Petersburg, VA takes home his third consecutive modified title and in the Collision One Limited Stock Cars Wesley Givens of New Kent, VA will get his career first championship by one point. The top ten in each division will be honored at the 2011 Awards Banquet to be held Saturday October 29, 2011 at the Virginia Beach Convention Center in Virginia Beach, VA. Information on the banquet can be found on the speedway website or by calling the speedway offices. The action will now switch to the speedway’s state of the art mud bog facility. On Saturday October 1st The Pit at Virginia Motor Speedway will host the 7th Annual Run-A-Muck Mud Bog and Mud Sling presented by Rappahannock Tractor and the Virginia Army National Guard. Additional sponsorship provided by Davis Off Road, Monster Energy Drinks, NAPA of King William, ORI of Richmond, Collision One and Truckin Thunder. There will be nine classes of “Mud Maniacs” in action ranging from stock to unlimited with cash payouts in all classes. New for this year’s event will be the addition of the Pro Modified class. After discussions with both competitors and fans Pit officials have added the very exciting class to the line up. Rules for the new Pro Modified division are posted on the Pit’s website by next week. Not only will fans get to see hordes of trucks splashing through the 200 foot Mud Bog pit but they will also get the opportunity to see some of the regions best Mud Dragsters covering the 200 foot Mud Sling pit in under three seconds. The event will also include a car crushing monster truck freestyle show and Dennis Anderson and his new creation King Sling will be competing in the Unlimited Bog division; that is if it is still in one piece after he goes off in the Freestyle show he has scheduled! Dennis will also be signing autographs and selling souvenirs. Gates and registration will open at 9am with Single Eliminations for Stock A, B; Modified A, B, C, Unlimited Bog, Pro Modified and X, XX classes beginning at 12 noon. Championship Night This Saturday September 24th

Jamaica, VA – Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway will return to action this Saturday September 24th and host the rescheduled Truckin Thunder, Collision One, WIGO Championship Night. It will be the last point race of the season for all four of the track’s Virginia Army National Guard Dirt Series divisions. With all the divisional point races tight heading into the final weekend the racing should be intense. Throw in the fact that every competitor is also vying for the coveted Virginia Army National Guard Dirt Series championship, which will crown an over all track champion, this will be a must see event. The night’s activities will include the Victory Lap Late Models, Truckin Thunder Sportsman, Budweiser Modifieds and the Collision One Limited Stock Cars in Virginia Army National Guard Dirt Series action. Competitor gates for Saturday, September 24th will open at 4pm with spectator gates opening at 5pm. On track activities will begin at 6:30pm with hot laps. Divisions scheduled to race on Saturday September 24th: Victory Lap Late Models (35 Laps); Truckin Thunder Sportsman (25 Laps); Budweiser Modifieds (25 Laps); and the Collision One Limited Stock Cars (20 laps). All divisions will run Hot Lap Time Trials and Features. Admission price for Adults $10, seniors (60+) $8; military (active/retired w/ proper I.D.) $5, students 13 – 17 years old $7, children 7 to 12 $4 and children 6 and under admitted free. Pit passes will be $20. To enhance the fans racing experience the speedway has installed a short wave FM transmitter and all of the evening’s action can be heard at 95.5 FM.
