All drivers must have all three forms for registration filled out and turned in as well as have your car inspected before it will be allowed on the track. Adams, Doggett, Duncan and Maxey crowned 2012 Champions; Duncan crowned VA Army National Guard Dirt Series Champion

Jamaica, VA – Bill Sawyers Virginia Motor Speedway wrapped up the 2012 season by recognizing the top ten in each of the track’s divisions with special attention reserved for the 2012 champions. During the night’s events almost $34,000 in cash and prizes were awarded, of that almost $28,000 was in cash. This year’s championships saw two familiar faces and two drivers picking up career first championships. Scott Adams of Chester, VA was crowned the Victory Lap Late Model Champion for the third consecutive year and received a check for $5,000 for his efforts. Adams also received a $500 certificate from the Joie of Seating, a custom calendar from Al Goulder Photography and his Championship helmet trophy and jacket. Rounding out the top ten in Victory Lap Late Model points were Tim Shelton of Fredericksburg, VA; Billy Tucker of King George, VA; Joe Ender of Glen Allen, VA; Troy Williams of South Mills, NC; John Staton of Chesapeake, VA; Davis Lipscombe of Mechanicsville, VA; Andy Gregg of Portsmouth, VA; Billy Adkins of Saluda, VA and Alan Anderson of Norfolk, VA. Taylor Doggett of Ruther Glen, VA was crowned the 2012 Truckin Thunder Sportsman Champion and received a check for $1,000 for his efforts. It was his career first championship. Rounding out the top ten in Truckin Thunder points were Junior Carter of Mechanicsville, VA; J.R. Brian Maxey of King George, VA won the Collision One Limited Stock Car Championship. The Championship was Maxey’s third division championship and fourth overall (2010 Virginia Army National Guard Dirt Series Championship). The speedway also crowns an overall Virginia Army National Guard Dirt Series Champion which pits all four divisions against each other and in the one of the closest battles in the seven year history of the championship Budweiser Modified Champion Jimmy Duncan of Fredericksburg, VA beat out Truckin Thunder Sportsman Champion Taylor Doggett and Truckin Thunder Sportsman second place finisher Junior Carter to take the overall championship and the $2000 check and special eagle trophy that goes along with it. Championship Night Twin Races Provide Action and Eight Different Winners; 2012 Champions Crowned

Jamaica, VA – Once again officials at Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway rolled out the fan favorite “Twin Race” format and once again it delivered eight different winners on Safety-Kleen, Collision One, Pepsi, WIGO Championship night in front of a very large and enthusiastic crowd. Tim Shelton of Fredericksburg, VA and Justin Williams of Shipman, VA took home wins in the Victory Lap Late Model events; Brett Adkins of Gloucester, VA and Roger Jamerson of Mechanicsville, VA got wins in Truckin Thunder Sportsman action; Jimmy Duncan of Fredericksburg, VA and Chris Arnold of Chester, VA in Budweiser Modifieds and Stephen Childress of St. Stephens Church, VA and Brian Maxey of King George, VA in Collision One Limited Stock action. The 2012 Virginia Motor Speedway Champions were Scott Adams of Chester, VA (Late Models); Taylor Doggett of Ruther Glen, VA (Sportsman); Jimmy Duncan of Fredericksburg, VA (Modified) and Brian Maxey of King George, VA (Limited Stock). In the first Victory Lap Late Model 25 lap feature Tim Shelton led flag to flag to take home the victory. In the process he closed the point lead going into the final twin race to eight points behind Scott Adams. Behind Shelton the battle for second was spirited with Troy Williams holding off Adams and John Staton for the spot. Justin Williams rounded out the top five. In the second 20 lap feature for the Victory Lap Late Models Justin Williams used his outside starting spot to gain control of the lead, one he would not relinquish as he led flag to flag in dominating fashion for his career first VMS win. Troy Williams once again battle hard for second and would hold off the challenges of John Staton for the spot. Scott Adams and Tim Shelton rounded out the top five. Scott Adams was crowned the 2012 Victory Lap Late Model Champion, his third in a row. The first Truckin Thunder 15 lap feature saw Junior Carter take the lead on the opening circuit with Roger Jamerson in chase. On lap 8 Brett Adkins took over second from Jamerson and set out to catch Carter. On a lap 9 restart Adkins would sweep around the outside of Carter in turn 2 to take over the lead with point leader Taylor Doggett taking second. Adkins would pull away to take the win with Doggett, Roger Jamerson, Junior Carter and Davey Pullen rounding out the top five. In the second 15 lap feature for the Truckin Truckin Thunder Sportsman Roger Jamerson grab the lead on the opening circuit and lead every lap on way to a flag to flag victory. Behind him the battle for second was hot and heavy with Brett Adkins holding off Taylor Doggett for the position. Rounding out the top five were Junior Carter and James Snead. Taylor Doggett would collect his first championship at the speedway. In the first 15 lap event for the Budweiser Modified event it only took six laps for point leader Jimmy Duncan of Fredericksburg, VA to get to the lead and when defending champion Dan Arnold of Chester, VA his chances at his first Budweiser Modified Championship came one step closer. Once out front Duncan pulled away from the battle for second as Page Harrison, Tony Quade and Chris Arnold traded the spot over the remainder of the race. Duncan would go on to take the win with Harrison, Quade, Arnold and Charlie Hubbard rounding out the top five. In the second 15 lap feature for the Budweiser Modifieds Chris Arnold of Chester, VA took the lead on the opening circuit with Tony Quade and Jimmy Duncan battling for second. On lap 5 Duncan tried to get inside Quade for second and would spin in turn 2 sending the point leader to the rear. On the restart Arnold pulled away from the field to score the win with Page Harrison, Jimmy Duncan, Neal Hudgins and Dan Arnold rounding out the top five. Jimmy Duncan would be crowned the 2012 Budwesier Modified Champion. In the first Collision One Limited Stock Car 12 lap feature Bob Terry would battle with point leader Brian Maxey for the lead with the battle for third three wide. Terry would pace the first four laps until Stephen Childress went inside for the lead. With the laps winding down the battle got hot between Childress and Wesley Givens. Givens tried several times to take over the lead the last time coming on the final lap out of turn 4. But Childress had just enough to get the win with Givens, Marty Coltrain, Brian Maxey and Bob Terry rounding out the top five. In the Collision One Limited Stock finale Brian Maxey led flag to flag to not only pick up the victory but also the championship in the process. Wesley Givens tried to mount a charge but had to settle for second with Stephen Childresss, Marty Coltrain and Brandon Sandridge rounding out the top five. The speedway will take the weekend of September 8th off due to the NASCAR races at Richmond International Raceway and return Friday and Saturday September 14 – 15th to host the $20,000 to win 33rd Annual USA 100. The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series will once again sanction the event. In last year’s edition eventual winner Scott Bloomquist of Mooresburg, TN and Steve Francis of Ashland, KY battle door handle to door handle for 32 laps before rains shorted the event. A fan friendly format will see the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series competitors qualifying and running two 25 lap qualifiers on Friday September 14th. On Saturday September 15th they will have B-Mains and the 50 lap $20,000 finale. The weekend’s events will also include two complete shows for the modifieds paying $1500 to win for each show. This year’s Mod Madness Twin 25’s will allow AMRA, UMP, IMCA, TSMA, NDRA rules for this year’s event. Because of the open rules some of the best modified competitors on the East Coast are expected to be in attendance. The speedway will once again provided fans with a top-flight show at very favorable ticket prices. Adults two-day tickets are $35.00 while seniors (60+) are $28.00; military (active and retired) are $25; students 7-17 are $15.00 and children Under 6 are FREE. Two-day Pit passes will be $50.00. The competitor gates open at 3:00 p.m. while the spectator gates swing open at 5:00 p.m. on Friday and 4pm on Saturday. On track action begins at 6:30 pm with hot laps both days. Storms Cause Power Outage Once Again Cancelling Racing for Saturday June 30th

Jamaica, VA – Mother Nature showed her strength again with a major storm coming through the area and causing a county wide power outage forcing officials of Bill Sawyer’s to cancel racing activities for Truckin Thunder Scout Night presented by the Virginia Army National Guard on Saturday, June 30th. Truckin Thunder Scout Night presented by the Virginia Army National Guard has been rescheduled for Saturday July 21st. The night’s activities will include the 1st Annual Truckin Thunder Dirtwood Nationals Pinewood Derby presented by the Virginia Army National Guard that will precede the action at the big track. There will be three divisions of competition for the pinewood derby – Scouts, Fans and VMS competitors. Gates will open at 3pm for registration and the 1st Annual Dirtwood Nationals will start at 4pm. The speedway will return to racing Saturday July 14th for Virginia Army national Guard Night and week nine of Virginia Army National Guard Dirt Series action. See the Victory Lap Late Model, Truckin Thunder Sportsman, Budweiser Modified and Collision One Limited Stock Car divisions in action. Competitor gates for Saturday, July 14th will open at 4pm with spectator gates opening at 5pm. On track activities will begin at 6:30pm with hot laps. Billy Tucker Gets Career First Win at Virginia Motor Speedway; Adkins Goes Two for Two and Duncan Repeats

Jamaica, VA – In one of the most exciting races of the year Billy Tucker of King George, VA muscled his way inside Scott Adams of Chester, VA on lap 33 to take over the top spot and go on to score his career first victory in the Victory Lap Late Model division at Virginia Motor Speedway. “I’ve been the brides maid so many times here it feels really good to finally get into victory lane,” commented Tucker. After his interview Tucker got on one knee in victory lane and asked his girlfriend Laurie Canter to marry him. She said yes. In other action Brett Adkins of Gloucester, VA doubled up for the second time this season winning both the Truckin Thunder Sportsman and Collision One Limited Stock Car features and in the Budweiser Modified 25 lap feature jimmy Duncan of Fredericksburg, VA made it two in a row with his win. Derick Quade and Will Pritchard led the field to green with Quade taking control out of turn 2. On lap 5 Scott Adams went inside Tucker for second in turn 3, the two touched allowing Tim Shelton to go to the outside and make it three wide for the position. When the dust cleared Shelton was in second with Adams close in third. While the battle for second heated up Quade had moved out to a full straight lead. Once in second Shelton began to reel in the leader but on lap 15 Shelton would head to the pit area with motor troubles ending his night and bringing out a caution. On the restart Quade looked as if he was going to pull away but on the exit of turn four slide high allowing Adams to pull to his inside. The two raced into turn 1 where they touched sending Quade up the track and giving Adams the lead. Adams pulled away to a comfortable lead and looked to be unbeatable. With the laps winding down Tucker began closing on the leader and finally got what he needed, a caution with two laps to go. On the restart Tucker dove under Adams and muscled his way to the lead as the two exited turn 2. Tucker would never look back and would go on to record his career first victory in the division. Rounding out the top five were John Staton, Ben Bowie, Scott Adams and Anthony Kincaid. Brandon Atkinson was the Pitts Lumber rookie of the Race. Truckin Thunder Sportsman Davey Pullen and Brett Adkins led the field to green with Adkins taking the lead out of turn 2. Once out front Adkins pulled away from the field while Junior Carter, Todd Traylor and Taylor Doggett battled for second. Several cautions closed the field on Adkins bumper but on each restart Adkins would pull away while the battle for second heated up. With the laps winding down and Adkins comfortably in the lead Traylor and Doggett battled for second. With the action behind him Adkins went on to score his second win of the season. Rounding out the top five were Todd Traylor, Taylor Doggett, Davey Pullen and Junior Carter. Adkins was also the Pitts Lumber Rookie of the Race. Budweiser Modifieds Curtis Barricks and Chris Arnold brought the field to green with Arnold taking over the top spot to lead the first lap. Jimmy Duncan would get to the front quickly and would power inside Arnold for the lead out of turn 4 on the next lap. Once out front Duncan to pull away from the field with Brian Dobie the only car to stay within striking distance. The only thing to slow Duncan were four cautions that closed the field on his bumper with the final one coming on lap 23. On the final restart Duncan was able to get tow car lengths on Dobie and go on to record his second win in a row at Virginia Motor Speedway. Rounding out the top five were Brian Dobie, Page Harrison, Dan Arnold and Brandon Galloway. Mike Reynolds was the Pitts Lumber rookie of the Race with his eighth place finish. Collision One Limited Stock Cars The Collision One Limited Stock division once again delivered a tremendous race for the great crowd on hand. Bob Terry and Stephen Childress led the field to green with Terry leading the first circuit. On the next lap Childress got under Terry out of turn 4 to take over the lead. Childress would pace the field with Brett Adkins in hot pursuit. On lap 10 Adkins slide under Childress in turn 1 making enough contact to send Childress up the track and take over the lead. That was all Adkins needed as he cruised to his second win of the night. Rounding out the top five were Wesley Givens, Brandon Sandridge, Bob Terry and Bobby Curtis. Jamaica, VA — The speedway will return to racing this Saturday June 9th to host WXGM Xtra 99.1 Gloucester County Community Night presented by Farm Bureau Insurance of Gloucester and week six of Virginia Army National Guard Dirt Series action. Virginia Motor Speedway to open 2012 season with “Test and Tune” Open Practice; Commonwealth 100 Advance Tickets Still on Sale

Jamaica, VA – Competitors at Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway will get the chance to dial in their rides for the 2012 season on Saturday March 31st as the speedway will hold a “Test & Tune” open practices for all divisions. Gates will open at 9am for competitors with on track action to begin at 11:30am. Fans are invited to come out and watch open practice to see all the new cars and paint schemes. There will be no charge for grandstand admission for open practice. Anyone wanting to visit the pits will be required to buy a pit pass. Pit passes will be $20 per person. All cars must be inspected before they will be allowed to practice. Registrations are currently being accepted with all numbers being given out on a first come first served basis. 2012 RULES FOR ALL DIVISIONS HAVE BEEN UPDATED

Jamaica, VA – The 2012 rules packages for all four of our weekly divisions have been updated and posted under the Drivers tab, then under Forms and Rules. It is the competitors responsibility to download both the General Rules and the rules associated with their particular division they will be running during the 2012 season. Attention Late Model and Sportsman drivers – There will be a change in the tire rule once we get the final information from Hoosier Tire. They are discontinuing several tire compounds and in the process we will have to change our tire offerings for 2012 and beyond. Williams takes checkers in late models; LaRouqe, Wood and Ender also get wins

Jamaica, VA – With the regular season drawing to a close, the battle for points and tempers heated up Saturday on Safety Kleen, NAPA of King William, National Guard Night night at Virginia Motor Speedway. The next to the final night of the 2011 Virginia Army National Guard Dirt Series racing season set the table for the championship night on Saturday September 3rd. In what turned out to be one of the best races of the year and in a race that saw five different leaders it was David Williams of Clement, MD that survived the full contact event by taking the lead on lap 28 and going on to record his second win of 2011. “The harder they are to win the sweeter they are when you do get in victory lane, that was about has hard a win as we have ever had, the competition here is so tough so being here in victory lane is that much sweeter,” commented Williams in victory lane. Williams first battled with John Staton of Chesapeake, VA for second with the two trading paint in each corner with Williams taking over that spot on lap 24. Williams then went to work on Tim Shelton of Fredericksburg, VA for the lead. Several times Williams tried to get inside Shelton for the lead only to have the door slammed on him each time. On lap 27 Williams finally got under Shelton out of turn 2 taking the lead he would not relinquish. Williams would have to fend off Staton several times before Staton had to work to hold off Adams who took over second on lap 31. Adams could not mount a challenge for the lead and Williams would take the win followed by Scott Adams, John Staton, Kenny Moreland and Walker Arthur. In other action Travis LaRogue of Mooresville, NC picked up his second Budweiser Modified win in a slugfest. In the Truckin Thunder Sportsman Tony Wood of New Kent, VA picked up his first win of the season and in the Collision One Limited Stock Car division Joe Ender of Glen Allen, VA got his first win of the season. In the Budweiser Modified 25 lap feature Travis LaRoque and Lance Grady led the field to green with Grady leading the opening lap. Caution would fly on lap 2 for a wreck in turn 4. On the restart Grady once again pulled away to take control of the lead. With Grady out front the battle was for the second spot with John Ferguson, Travis LaRoque, Brian Maxey and Dan Arnold. Grady would get company in the form of Brian Maxey as the two battled for the top spot. Maxey would try several times to get inside Grady but each time the door was slammed. On lap 19 the two races into slower traffic with Maxey making it three wide under Grady as they raced into turn 3. The two would touch sending both spinning and to the rear of the field. On the restart the race got real interesting as Ferguson and LaRoque went to beating on each other and exchanging the top spot until on lap 23 where LaRouqe took over the top spot for good holding Dan Arnold off at the line for his second win of the season. Rounding out the top 5 were Dan Arnold, Jimmy Duncan, Neal Hudgins and Chris Arnold. In the Truckin Thunder Sportsman 25 lap feature Wayne Carroll and J.R. Guy led the field to green with Guy taking the lead. Guy would hold the lead until lap 9 when Tony Wood would get inside Guy out of turn 2 with Wood taking the lead at the line. Guy would try to battle back but Wood would hold him off to keep the lead. Over the final fifteen laps Wood would have Todd Traylor on his bumper but Traylor could not make a serious challenge for the top spot. Wood would go on to collect his first win of 2011 followed by Todd Traylor, J.R. Guy, Wayne Carroll and Bubba Holloway Jr. In the Collision One Limited Stock 20 lap feature Joe Ender and Brett Adkins led the field to green with Enders leading the first circuit. The battle up front was intense with Enders, James Givens, Wesley Givens and Ryan Toole all in close proximity. On lap 7 point leader Wesley Givens and Toole got hooked together bringing out the races first caution sending both to the rear. Enders would pace the field with a comfortable cushion over James Givens and David Bowler. On a lap 18 restart Bowler would get inside Givens out of turn 2 to take over second. Givens would get into him going down the backstretch sending both into the turn 3 wall. On the final restart Ender would jump out a comfortable lead over Ricky Douglas and would cruise to the win followed by Douglas, Ryan Toole, Wesley Givens and Brandon Sandridge. Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway will take the weekend of August 27th off and return to action Saturday September 3rd and host Truckin Thunder, Collision One, WIGO Championship Night. It will be the last point race of the season for all four of the track’s Virginia Army National Guard Dirt Series divisions. With all the divisional point races tight heading into the final weekend the racing should be intense. Throw in the fact that every competitor is also vying for the coveted Virginia Army National Guard Dirt Series championship, which will crown an over all track champion, this will be a must see event.
