$20,000 to win King of the Commonwealth Set This Saturday, May 15

Jamaica, VA –Some of the region’s top dirt late model talent will converge on Virginia Motor Speedway for one of the year’s biggest events, the $20,000 to win Virginia Is For Racing Lovers King of the Commonwealth presented by Northern Neck Chevrolet. This Saturday, May 15, Virginia Motor Speedway will host the largest short track event in the State of Virginia. That means some of the best dirt late model drivers on the East Coast will be making the trip to the ½ mile speed plant located in Jamaica, VA. The event will be sanctioned by the Ultimate Super Late Model Series and will feature a 60 lap A-Main, paying the winner a cool $20,000. The event will also feature a $3000 to win FASTRAK Racing Series powered by Chevrolet Performance race for Pro Late Model competitors. “If you are a fan of short track racing you do not want to miss this event; the best dirt late model racers on the East Coast will be vying for that huge $20,000 check in one of the biggest short track events in the State of Virginia,” commented track owner Bill Sawyer. Jamaica, VA – After a very successful Thursday Night Thunder event, Virginia Motor Speedway officials are excited to return to weekly racing this Saturday, April 24th. The racing on opening night at the ½ mile speed plant in Jamaica, VA, was fantastic in all four of the speedway’s Dirt Series Championship weekly divisions. The night will feature the Victory Lap Pro Late Model, Truckin Thunder Sportsman, Budweiser Modified, and Collision One Limited Stock Car divisions in some exciting side-by-side action. Competitor gates for Saturday, April 24th, will open at 3 PM, with spectator gates opening at 5 PM. On-track activities will begin at 6:30 PM for hot laps. Speedway Reschedules Virginia Is For Racing Lovers King of the Commonwealth to Spring of 2021

Jamaica, VA (MAY 26, 2020) – Virginia Motor Speedway officials have announced that this weekend’s (May 30th) Virginia Is For Racing Lovers King of the Commonwealth, sanctioned by the Ultimate Super Late Model Series and FASTRAK Racing, has been rescheduled for Spring of 2021. With restrictions on mass gatherings issued by the State remaining in effect, the worldwide COVID-19 pandemic continues to have Virginia Motor Speedway’s 51st season on hold. “This decision comes per CDC guidelines, and the State of Virginia banning events of 10 or more people. We are extremely disappointed that we will not be able to host one of the track’s marquee events and region’s top dirt late model events again this year,” commented track owner Bill Sawyer. Officials of Virginia Motor Speedway will continue to closely monitor the situation in coordination with federal, state, local, and public health officials, along with information based on guidelines from the CDC to determine when it will be safe to reopen. Speedway Officials Release 2020 Schedule of Events

Jamaica, VA – With the speedway’s special events having already been released several weeks ago, Virginia Motor Speedway officials have now released the rest of the 2020 schedule. It will mark the 51st season of action at the ½ mile speed plant in Jamaica, VA. The schedule includes eleven (11) nights of weekly racing action, the return of 410 sprint cars with the April 16th Thursday Night Thunder featuring the All Star Circuit of Champions and Tony Stewart, two Ultimate Super Late Model sanctioned events – the May 30th $20,000 to win King of the Commonwealth and the August 1st $20,000 to win 44th Annual USA 100; the $3000 to win Prelude to the World Championship for FASTRAK Pro Late Models, the return of the history-making $51,000 to win FASTRAK World Championship presented by James River Equipment weekend and two mud bogs at the facilities state-of-the-art 200 mud bog pit. Speedway to Host Richest Weekend in Pro Late Model History This Friday and Saturday, September 13-14

Jamaica, VA – Pro Late Model racing’s richest weekend has gotten richer, as Virginia Motor Speedway will host the richest Pro Late Model event in history when they host the $50,000 to win FASTRAK World Championship presented by James River Equipment. The historic weekend will take place this Friday and Saturday, September 13 – 14, 2019 at Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway in Jamaica, VA. “What a way to end out 50th anniversary season, with the richest short track race in the State of Virginia’s history,” commented track owner Bill Sawyer. Sawyer continued, “With $50,000 on the line and with this also being filmed for TV, we are going to see some of the country’s top Pro Late Models drivers in attendance. This event will be one race you do not want to miss.” Track officials are busy preparing the facilities for what is expected to be another record car count. The weekend will put the spotlight squarely on the country’s best Pro Late Model drivers. This mega race will pay the winner a whopping $50,000. With a total payout of over $170,000, it is the richest weekend in all of Pro Late Model history. The weekend will also include a $6000 to win and $600 to start the Dirt Cup Challenge UMP Modified event. This race will be a UMP National Point event. It all kicks off Friday, September 13th with registration, tech, practice and two sets of heats for both the FASTRAK Pro Late Model competitors as well as the Dirt Cup Challenge UMP Modified competitors to set the top 16 spots in both features. The following night Saturday, September 14 the FASTRAK Pro Late Model competitors will have B Main(s), the 75 lap $50,000 feature and up to four (4) non-qualifier races based on car count. Logan Roberson Slides Carson Ferguson with Two Laps Remaining to Score the $3000 FASTRAK Prelude to the World Championship victory; Thomas, Shelton and Bradley also pick Up Wins

JAMAICA, VA – Logan Roberson of Waynesboro, VA got by Carson Ferguson of Charlotte, NC with two laps, executing a perfect slide job for the lead. Roberson would go on to score the win in the Northern Neck Chevrolet Prelude to the World Championship at Virginia Motor Speedway. Roberson made two attempts to get by Ferguson before finally pulling off the slide job to take the lead. Once out front, he was able to hold Ferguson at bay for the victory. “Racing with my friend Carson (Ferguson) was a blast, I hated getting into him for the win. We thrashed really hard after hot laps to get this car to where we think we have a really good car for the World Championship,” commented Roberson in WhosYourDriver.org victory lane. Rounding out the top five were Carson Ferguson, Corey Almond, Justin Williams, and Walker Arthur. In other action Christian Thomas of Wake Forest, NC made his long trip pay off with a flag to flag Budweiser Modified victory; in the Truckin Thunder Sportsman Tim Shelton of Fredericksburg, VA wired the field for the win, and in the Collision One Limited Stock Car 25 lap feature Cory Bradley of Hopewell, VA scored his third win of the season. Michael Brown and Dillon Brown led the field to green with Michael Brown taking the top spot on the drop of the green flag. On the next lap, Kyle Hardy would work his way into second, getting past Dillon Brown in turn 3. On lap 4 Brown and Hardy got together racing for the lead entering turn 4 ending Hardy’s night. On the restart, Carson Ferguson rocketed to the lead with Brown heading to the infield with mechanical issues. Behind Ferguson, Justin Williams, Walker Arthur, Matt Long, Logan Roberson and Corey Almond all battled for second through six. On lap 27 Roberson began working on Williams for second when caution would fly for a stopped Dale Hollidge. On the restart, Roberson got inside Williams for second and on the next circuit, Almond got by Williams for third. On lap 34 Roberson closed in on Ferguson and began to pressure him for the lead. At the same time, Justin Williams and Corey Almond began their battle for third. On lap 37 Roberson made a move to get inside Ferguson in turn 3, Roberson was able to complete the slide job and take over the top spot. Just as that happened Almond got inside Williams for the last time to take third as Roberson went on to score the $3000 victory over Ferguson. Walker Arthur would round out the top five. Christian Thomas of Wake Forest, NC made the long trip to Virginia Motor Speedway well worth the drive leading flag to flag to score the Budweiser Modified victory. Ryan Toole and Thomas led the twenty-two car field to green with Thomas grabbing the lead off turn 2 followed by Hunter McClendon in second. McClendon tried several times to get inside Thomas for the lead only to be held at bay. Austin Holcombe made a late dash to the front, getting to third with five to go. With Thomas in control and heading to the checkers for the win, Holcombe got under McClendon out of turn four with McClendon holding off Holcombe for second with Ryan Toole and David Parker rounding out the top five. Tim Shelton of Fredericksburg, VA charged from his fifth-place starting position to take the lead from Brett Adkins and went on to score an easy win. Behind him, the action for 2nd and fourth was hot and heavy. But no one could close in on Shelton as he went on to score the win with Brett Adkins, Tyler Shipp, Chase Burrow and Joe Weiss rounding out the top five. Cory Bradley of Hopewell, VA outdueled Trent Clemans and James Givens to score the win in the Collision One Limited Stock Car 25 lap feature. Bradley would get the lead on the drop of the green flag and then held off several challenges by Clemas going on to lead flag to flag for his third win of the season. Rounding out the top five were Randy Hutchens, James Givens, Chris Champion, and Jay Seward. The speedway will take the weekend of August 31st off and return to racing on Saturday, September 7t to host Collision One Limited Stock Championship Night featuring the Victory Lap Pro Late Model, Truckin Thunder Sportsman, Budweiser Modified and Collision One Limited Stock Car divisions in Dirt Series Championship weekly racing action.
