Trevor Collins Takes Pro Late Model Win; Hamilton, Adkins, and Brooks Also Grab Wins. Pilkerton, Butler, Adkins and Brooks Crowned Champions

Jamaica, VA – With a great crowd in attendance for Joe Hudson’s Collision Center Championship Night, Trevor Collins of Loveville, MD, set fast time, got inverted to fourth, led the first lap, and went on to lead flag to flag to take his first career Victory Lap Pro Late Model win at Virginia Motor Speedway. “We have been trying for years to win here; we finally put it all together, and man, it feels good,” commented Collins in Virginia Is for Racing Lovers victory lane. Point leader Jeremy Pilkerton of Loveville, MD, had a close call on lap 27 of the 30-lap feature when Billy Hubbard of Cobbs Creek, VA, barreled down into turn 3 with the two banging together. Pilkerton would gather it back up, fall in behind Hubbard, and finish sixth, securing the 2023 Victory Lap Pro Late Model Championship by 3 points over Hubbard. “When I got passed by those two cars, I knew I was going to have to slow down going into turn 3 and that Hubbard was going to drive it in deep. I figured that if I just kept the car straight, I would be OK. It feels great to get this Championship,” commented Jeremy Pilkerton. Pilkerton and Hubbard led the field to green, getting together on the backstretch, with Trevor Collins getting by to take the lead with Pilkerton in second. On lap 5, Davis Lipscombe got by Pilkerton for second and set out to catch Collins. On the next lap, Lipscombe got inside Collins in turn 1, but that was the closest he would get the rest of the race. On lap 23, Lipscombe and Pilkerton battled for second as Collins pulled away. On a lap 24 restart, Pilkerton lost third to Corey Almond and fourth to Nick Davis. Heading into turn 3, Pilkerton had to get on the binders, allowing Billy Hubbard to dive in under him, with the two getting together. Hubbard would get by, with Pilkerton following right behind him. Collins would take the win, followed by Davis Lipscombe, Corey Almond, Nick Davis, and Billy Hubbard. Pilkerton was crowned the 2023 Champion, his first at Virginia Motor Speedway. The Budweiser Modified 25-lap feature came down to the last lap with point leader Chase Butler of Mechanicsville, VA, trying a slide-job on leader Bret Hamilton of Powhatan, VA in turn 3. Hamilton was able to turn back down under Butler in turn 3, making it three-wide with a lapped car as they came to the line, with Hamilton grabbing the win by .029 seconds. Rounding out the top five were Butler, Scott Heath, Michael Pappas, and Jeff Solinger. Chase Butler was crowned the 2023 Budweiser Modified Champion, his third Championship in a row. In the Truckin Thunder Sportsman 25-lap feature, Brett Adkins of Saluda, VA, took the lead from Matt Meads of Elizabeth City, NC, on lap 7. For the next 4 laps, Adkins would race side-by-side with Meads while point leader Steve Causey of Smithfield, VA, rode in third. On lap 14, Causey got past Meads to catch Adkins, who had checked out. A caution closed Causey up on the bumper of Adkins. On the restart, Causey got under Adkins, and the two raced side-by-side until back into turn 1 with one to go. Causey stayed on Adkin’s bumper heading into turn three when a car spun in front of them, bringing out the caution and checkers. Rounding out the top five were Hunter Wright, Matt Meads, and Adam Breeden. In the Joe Hudson’s Collision Center Limited Stock 20 lap feature, Johnny Brooks of Aylett, VA, took the lead from Corey Bradley of Hopewell, VA, and then held off Trent Clemans of North Prince George, VA, over the remaining laps to take his seventh win of the season. Rounding out the top five were Clemans, Gregory Morgan, Jason Speelman, and Cory Bradley. Johnny Brooks was crowned the 2023 Joe Hudson’s Collision Center Champion. The speedway will take a couple of weeks off to prepare for the Saturday, October 7 Run-A-Muck Mud Bog presented by Breezline and WhosYourDriver.org over at The Pit. The Premier Mega Truck Racing Series will be back for another round of side-by-side mega truck racing. Speedway Set to Open 2018 Season Saturday April 7th; $20,000 to win Aaron’s King of the Commonwealth Set for April 14th

Jamaica, VA – The beginning of April at Virginia Motor Speedway is going to be action packed to say the least. To start it off the gates swing open to the track’s 2018 season of Aaron’s Dirt Series Championship weekly racing next Saturday April 7th with WRAR / WNNT Night at the races. Then the following week the focus will shift to the $20,000 to win Aaron’s King of the Commonwealth, the first of five special events scheduled for the season. The anticipation for the first race of the season has been escalating over the last several weeks and fans and competitors alike are excited to get the speedway’s 49th season underway. The 49thAnnual season opening event will take place on Saturday evening April 7th featuring a full program of Aaron’s Dirt Series Championship weekly racing action that will include the Victory Lap Pro Late Model, Truckin Thunder Sportsman, Budweiser Modified and Collision One Limited Stock divisions. Competitor gates for Saturday, April 7th will open at 12pm for inspection and registration for all competitors. Spectator gates opening at 5pm with on track activities beginning around 5pm with hot laps. There will be a mandatory drivers meeting at 4:45pm. Speedway Crowns 2017 Champions; Shelton crowned Aaron’s Dirt Series Champion

Jamaica, VA – Bill Sawyers Virginia Motor Speedway officially wrapped up the 2017 season by recognizing the top ten in each of the track’s divisions with special attention reserved for the 2017 champions. During the night’s events almost $36,000 in cash and prizes were awarded, of that almost $27,000 was in cash. Justin Williams of Concord, VA was crowned the 2017 Victory Lap Pro Late Model Champion for the second year in a row and received a check for $5,000 for his efforts. Williams also received a $500 certificate from the Joie of Seating, a custom calendar from Al Goulder Photography, his Championship helmet trophy and his Champions jacket from Hoosier Tire Mid-Atlantic. The title was Williams fifth in a row at Virginia Motor Speedway. Tim Shelton of Fredericksburg, VA was crowned the 2017 Truckin Thunder Sportsman Champion and received a check for $1,000 for his efforts. Jamerson also received a $500 certificate from the Joie of Seating, a custom calendar from Al Goulder Photography, his Championship helmet trophy and his Champions jacket from Hoosier Tire Mid-Atlantic. This was Shelton’s second Truckin Thunder Sportsman title. This is Givens’ second Limited Stock title. During his speech Givens announced he would be moving up to the Victory Lap Pro Late Model division in 2018. The speedway also crowns an overall Aaron’s Dirt Series Champion which pits all four divisions against each other. Tim Shelton, on the strength of his five wins and his eight top 5’s, won the overall Championship and received a $2000 check and the special eagle trophy that goes along with winning the title. Aaron’s also presented Shelton with a 50” Phillips 4K Ultra HD television. Jamaica, VA – Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway will return to racing this Saturday May 30th for S.T.A.R. Kids Night. The night will feature the Victory Lap Late Model, Aaron’s Pro Late Model, Truckin Thunder Sportsman, Budweiser Modified and Collision One Limited Stock Car divisions in Virginia National Guard Dirt Series action. S.T.A.R. Kids night is always a special one for the speedway as the children from the Gloucester S.T.A.R. program visit for a night of racing. Justin Williams Takes Checkers in Late Models; Bare, Quade, Adkins and Hutchens also Grab Victories

Jamaica, VA – In front of a packed house on Truckin Thunder Scout night at Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway Justin Williams of Concord, VA and Billy Tucker of King George, VA put on a show for the ages as the two battled for 23 laps before Williams finally took the lead on lap 24 and go on to the victory. Normally a high side, cushion riding driver, Williams had to use the inside groove to finally get past Tucker for the lead. Once out front Williams set sail to pick up his first win of the season. Shotgun starting David Williams finished second with a last lap pass on Billy Tucker followed by Joe Ender and Billy Hubbard rounding out the top five. In other action Tyler Bare of Rockbridge Baths, VA took the lead on lap 17 of the Aaron’s Pro Late Model 25 lap feature and went on take his second win of the season. In the Budweiser Modified feature Matt Qaude of Mechanicsville, MD picked up his second feature win of the season in as many races after battling with Mike Reynolds for the victory. Brett Adkins of Gloucester, VA picked up the win in Truckin Thunder Sportsman and Ryan Hutchens of Providence Forge, VA scored his second win of the season in Collision One Limited Stock Cars. Billy Tucker and Billy Hubbard led the Victory Lap Late Models to the green for their 30 lap feature. Tucker took the lead out of turn 2 with Justin Williams right on his bumper. Williams worked Tucker high and looking for the lead with Tucker keeping the lead by inches each time to the line. For 22 laps Williams and Tucker battled for the lead and David Williams worked his way from his last place starting spot. On lap 23 Williams finally got to the inside of Tucker in turn 4 and took over the lead at the line. Once out front Williams pulled away and went on to win his first win of the season. David Williams, Billy Tucker, Joe Ender and Billy Hubbard rounded out the top 5. In the Aaron’s Pro Late Model 25 lap feature Davis Lipscombe and Jimmy Duncan led the field to green with Duncan taking the lead out of turn 4 with Ricky Wells in tow. By lap 10 Tyler Bare had worked his way to second and began to put pressure on the leader. Bare tried for several laps to take the lead as the two battled side by side. On lap 16 Duncan slipped up in turn 1 allowing Bare to dart inside for the lead. Once out front Bare cruised to his second consecutive win of the season. Duncan, Mark Parks, Jared Powell, and Ricky Wells rounded out the top five. Dan Arnold and Mike Clements led the Budweiser Modified field to green with Reynolds taking the lead out of turn 2 followed closely by Matt Quade. By lap 5 Reynolds had stretched his lead to almost ten car lengths when a caution came out for a spin by Joey Dean. On the restart Quade tried to take the top spot but Reynolds held him at bay. The two battled for the next 20 laps nearly side by side with Reynolds holding on to the top spot until lap 20 when Quade jumped to the outside of Reynolds in turn 4 to take the lead at the line. Once out front Quade pulled away for his second win in as many races this year. Brian Maxey, Dan Arnold, Mike Reynolds and Francis Jarrelle III rounded out the top five. In the Truckin Thunder Sportsman 20 lap feature Chad Beahr and James Snead lead the field to green with Snead grabbing the top spot out of turn 2. For 9 laps Snead paced the field with a small cushion. On lap 10 Brett Adkins began to apply pressure and on lap 11 Adkins got under Snead in turn 1 to take the lead. Once out front Adkins had to hold off the field on several restarts to pick up the win. Snead, Macy Causey, Roger Jamerson and Chad Beahr rounded out the top five. In the Collision One Limited Stock 20 lap feature Cory Bradley and Brian Bradley led the field to green with Brian Bradley taking the lead followed by Chad Champion and Ryan Hutchens. The three drivers battled for the lead the first 11 laps until Bradley exploded and engine on the backstretch. That handed the lead to Champion. On the restart Champion and Hutchens began the tussle over the top spot. On lap 15 Hutchens got to the inside of Champion out of turn 4, taking the lead by inches at the line. Over the next four laps Hutchens was able to hold off Champion for his second victory in as many weeks. Chris Maxey, Chris Champion and Brandon Sandridge rounded out the top five. The speedway will return to racing next Saturday May 9th for Mom’s Night Out. All mom’s and grandma’s will be admitted free. The night will feature all five of the Virginia Army National Guard Dirt Series divisions in action. Championship Night This Saturday September 24th

Jamaica, VA – Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway will return to action this Saturday September 24th and host the rescheduled Truckin Thunder, Collision One, WIGO Championship Night. It will be the last point race of the season for all four of the track’s Virginia Army National Guard Dirt Series divisions. With all the divisional point races tight heading into the final weekend the racing should be intense. Throw in the fact that every competitor is also vying for the coveted Virginia Army National Guard Dirt Series championship, which will crown an over all track champion, this will be a must see event. The night’s activities will include the Victory Lap Late Models, Truckin Thunder Sportsman, Budweiser Modifieds and the Collision One Limited Stock Cars in Virginia Army National Guard Dirt Series action. Competitor gates for Saturday, September 24th will open at 4pm with spectator gates opening at 5pm. On track activities will begin at 6:30pm with hot laps. Divisions scheduled to race on Saturday September 24th: Victory Lap Late Models (35 Laps); Truckin Thunder Sportsman (25 Laps); Budweiser Modifieds (25 Laps); and the Collision One Limited Stock Cars (20 laps). All divisions will run Hot Lap Time Trials and Features. Tim Shelton Scores First Ever Victory in Late Model action at Virginia Motor Speedway; Barrick and Childress also first time winners while Enders gets second career win

Jamaica, VA – Mother Nature tired to put a damper on Armed Forces Appreciation Night at Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway but track officials had other ideas getting the track in racing condition with the help of the competitors on hand. Once racing got under way the action got intense on a night that saw three first time winners. In the Victory Lap Late Model 35 lap feature Tim Shelton of Fredericksburg, VA led every lap but it didn’t come easy as Scott Adams, David Williams and Derick Quade all took shots at Shelton for the lead. On lap 6 Williams worked high and low trying to find a way around Shelton. Several times over the next few laps Williams would get a fender inside Shelton but could never make the pass. Shelton would be able to get some breathing room as Adams went to work on Williams for the runner up spot. Williams would jump the cushion in turn 3 on lap 16 allowing Adams to take over the second spot. With the laps winding down Shelton held the top spot while Adams battled Derick Quade for second. With the battle behind him Shelton would go on to record his first ever win in the very competitive Victory Lap Late Models. “This is awesome, we have worked really hard to get to this point and to get a win in this very competitive division,” commented Shelton in victory lane. Rounding out the top five were Scott Adams, Derick Quade, David Williams and John Staton. In other action Curtis Barricks of Chesterfield, VA led every lap of the Budwesier Modified 25 lap feature to record his first ever victory in eight years of racing at Virginia Motor Speedway. The win didn’t come without a challenge as Josh Harris of Gloucester, VA made several attempts to take away the top spot without success. Harris would finish second followed by Lance Grady, Page Harrison and Dan Arnold. In the Truckin Thunder Sportsman 25 lap feature Tony Woods and Roy Skaggs would lead the field to green with Woods leading the first circuit. On lap 3 Stephen Childress and Todd Traylor would get past Skaggs for second and third respectfully. On lap 6 Childress would get inside Woods in turn 4 and take the lead at the line by inches. Once out front Childress began to build a comfortable lead. Woods would make several late race attempts at taking back the top spot but to no avail. The races final caution came out on lap 22 setting up a three lap dash for the cash of which Childress was up for the challenge as he went on to record his first ever victory in the Truckin Thunder Sportsman division. Wood, Traylor, Roger Jamerson and Michael Roop rounded out the top five. In the Collision One 20 lap nightcap Brandon Sandridge and Chad champion led the field to green. Sandridge would briefly take the lead but would jump the cushion in turn 3 allowing Champion to get by and lead the first circuit. Champion’s lead was short lived as on the next lap Joe Ender would get inside Champion in turn 4 to take over the top spot. Ender would quickly get company and Brett Adkins and Ryan Toole pulled up on his back bumper trying to force an error on Enders part. With battles all over the track all eyes seemed focused on the top spot as Adkns began to pressure Ender of the lead. Adkins made several attempts for the lead and each time Ender held him off. The last attempt came on the final lap as Adkins looked to have a good run off turn 4 to get inside Enders only to have Enders hold on to the victory. rounding out the top five were Adkins, Toole, Wesley Givens and Ricky Douglas.
