RACES CANCELED FOR SATURDAY, AUGUST 3

Jamaica, VA – Mother Nature wins again. With all the weather services showing an extremely high probability of rain, officials have made the tough decision to cancel racing activities for Saturday, August 3, 2024.

"We waited it out to see if the weather forecast would change, but it hasn’t and now they are calling for heavy thunderstorms and high winds. It is in the best interest of our fans and competitors that we cancel tonight’s event," said track owner Bill Sawyer.

The Speedway will return to racing on Saturday, August 17th, and host the Commonwealth Clash featuring the Steel Block Bandit Dirt Late Model Series in a $5000 to win event and the Modified Mafia Tour in a $3000 to win event. It will also include week 10 of Dirt Series Championship weekly racing featuring the Victory Lap Pro Late Models, Truckin Thunder Sportsman, Budweiser Modified, Joe Hudson's Collision Centers Limited Stock Car, and Petie's Radiator Service JuiceBox divisions in action. Do not miss this event as it will be packed full of action.

Bill Sawyer's Virginia Motor Speedway is a ½ mile dirt oval track located on U.S. Route 17, eight miles north of Saluda, VA, and 25 miles south of Tappahannock, VA, in Jamaica, VA. The Speedway is just a short drive from Richmond, Fredericksburg, Southern Maryland, and the Hampton Roads area.
