Brandon Overton

Overton sweeps Ultimate weekend, pockets $25,000

“Virginia is for Lovers,” and with his recent accomplishments it can now also be said that “Virginia is for Brandon Overton.” The Georgia throttle masher parked his Wells Motorsports No. 76 Crossfit Overton/ Allstar Concrete/ Longhorn Chassis by Wells/ Clements Racing Engine-powered Super Late Model in Victory Lane twice over the weekend.

Overton now owns 10 victories on the season.

“Everything fell into place nicely this weekend. On Friday night we bided our time and got to the lead when it counted. Similarly, on Saturday I told (team members) before I went out there, ‘I’m just gonna take my time. We got a good starting spot.’ But I’ll admit I fell back a little more than I wanted,” shared Overton. “It was a great weekend for our team, and hopefully we can have another sweep this coming weekend at Port Royal.”

Friday night found Brandon Overton in action at Natural Bridge Speedway (Natural Bridge, Va.) for the Ultimate Southeast Series-sanctioned Road to Jamaica. With the fastest lap in time trials positioning him second on the starting grid for the main event, Overton wrestled away the lead from polesitter Ross Bailes on lap 29 and led the remaining 11 laps to capture his ninth win of the season and a $5,000 prize. Bailes, Trever Feathers, Zack Mitchell, and Cla Knight completed the Top-5 finishers in the 40-lap affair.

The following night at Virginia Motor Speedway (Jamaica, Va.) for the King of the Commonwealth, Brandon topped his 18-car group in qualifying before picking up a heat race victory. After fading as far back as eighth early in the feature, Brandon began his rally to the front near the middle stages of the 60-lapper. Overtaking Jimmy Owens for the lead on lap 40, Overton turned back Owens’ late-race challenge to secure his second win in as many nights and 10th of the season. Taking the checkers ahead of Owens, Josh Richards, Tim McCreadie, and Gregg Satterlee, Brandon earned $20,000 for his eighth-career Ultimate-sanctioned triumph.
