Rain Forces Cancellation of Racing on WhosYourDriver.org Night
Jamaica, VA – Just as qualifying had concluded on WhosYourDriver.org Night at Virginia Motor Speedway Mother Nature decided to dampen the night’s activities with rain. Speedway officials waited an hour before calling the night’s activities hoping that the rain would subside. This is the fifth rain out of the season.
“To say we are disappointed would be an understatement as we really wanted to get in tonight’s activities not only for our fans and competitor’s but for the Adkins family; we will include our fundraising efforts for them when we come back on August 25, commented track General Manager Clarke Sawyer.
Before qualifying began just about every driver in every division had pledged their race winnings to the Camden Adkins Fund and the track had already collected $2300 in cash donations as well. The track will continue that effort at the next race.
The Speedway will take next Saturday August 18th off and return to racing on Saturday August 25th and host Collision One | Pepsi | Aaron’s Night to benefit Healthy Harvest Food Bank and week 11 of Aaron’s Dirt Series Championship weekly racing and feature the Victory Lap Pro Late Model, Truckin Thunder Sportsman, Budweiser Modified and Collision One Limited Stock Car divisions in action.
We will be collecting donations and non-perishable food items for the local food banks. For every five (5) items donated receive a free general admission ticket. There is no limit of number of free tickets you can get from donations. Help us stamp out hunger in our community and in return see some of the best racing in the country.
