Speedway Set to Open 2018 Season Saturday April 7th; $20,000 to win Aaron’s King of the Commonwealth Set for April 14th
Jamaica, VA – The beginning of April at Virginia Motor Speedway is going to be action packed to say the least. To start it off the gates swing open to the track’s 2018 season of Aaron’s Dirt Series Championship weekly racing next Saturday April 7th with WRAR / WNNT Night at the races. Then the following week the focus will shift to the $20,000 to win Aaron’s King of the Commonwealth, the first of five special events scheduled for the season.
The anticipation for the first race of the season has been escalating over the last several weeks and fans and competitors alike are excited to get the speedway’s 49th season underway.
The 49thAnnual season opening event will take place on Saturday evening April 7th featuring a full program of Aaron’s Dirt Series Championship weekly racing action that will include the Victory Lap Pro Late Model, Truckin Thunder Sportsman, Budweiser Modified and Collision One Limited Stock divisions.
Competitor gates for Saturday, April 7th will open at 12pm for inspection and registration for all competitors. Spectator gates opening at 5pm with on track activities beginning around 5pm with hot laps. There will be a mandatory drivers meeting at 4:45pm.
Divisions scheduled to race on Saturday: Victory Lap Pro Late Models (35 Laps); Budweiser Modifieds (30 Laps); Truckin Thunder Sportsman (30 laps) and the Collision One Limited Stock Cars (25 laps). All divisions will run Hot Lap Time Trials and Features.
The following week, Saturday April 14th, the stars and cars of the Ultimate Super Late Model Series invade the ½ mile speed plant in Jamaica, VA for the $20,000 to win Aaron’s King of the Commonwealth. The event will host some of the top regional and national super late model drivers in a must-see event. There will also be a $3000 to win event for the FASTRAK Racing Series Chevrolet Performance Late Models. For info and ticket pricing visit the track’s website at www.vamotorspeedway.com.

Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway is a 1/2-mile, dirt oval. The track is located on U.S. Route 17, eight miles north of Saluda, VA and 25 miles south of Tappahannock, VA in Jamaica, VA. The speedway is just a short drive from Richmond, Fredericksburg, Southern Maryland and the Hampton Roads area.
