MOTHER NATURE SCORES WIN; SPEEDWAY SUFFERS FIRST RAIN OUT OF 2017
Jamaica, VA – Wet weather and the forecast for more have forced officials to cancel racing activities for Saturday April 22, 2017 at Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway.
“With the rain we have already had, the cooler temperatures and more rain headed our way we are forced to make this tough decision; everyone hates a rain out�, commented track General Manager Clarke Sawyer.
The speedway will take the weekend of Saturday April 29th off due to the NASCAR events at Richmond Raceway. The Speedway will return to racing on Saturday May 6, 2017 for Truckin Thunder Scout Night.
The night will feature the 6th Annual Dirtwood Nationals Pinewood Derby and all Scouts in uniform will get in free. Scouts, fans and competitors are all encouraged to participate. Don’t have a pinewood derby? No problem you can rent one for $10 will all the proceeds going to help the charity ChildHelp. Admission price for Adults $12, seniors (60+) $10; military (active/retired w/ proper I.D.) $8, students 11 – 17 years old $6 and children 10 and under admitted free. Pit passes will be $20.
16� coolers are welcomed but no glass is allowed. There is plenty of free lit parking and camping (no hookups) is allowed at no charge on a first come first served basis.
