Mother Nature Takes Third Race in a Row; Racing Activities for Saturday July 11th Canceled Due to Rain
Jamaica, VA – With heavy rains and additional wet weather forecast for the rest of the day officials at Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway officials have canceled racing for Saturday July 11th. It is the track’s third rain out in a row.
“This is so unbelievable; we just can’t get a break from Mother Nature. Heavy rains began this morning and have just not let up. Hopefully we will get out of this weather pattern and get back to racing�, commented track General Manager Clarke Sawyer.
The speedway will take next Saturday July 18th off and return to racing on Saturday July 25th to host Northern Neck Chevrolet / MetroCast Business Night and week ten of the 2015 VMS Dirt Series season featuring the Victory Lap Late Model, Aaron’s Pro Late Model, Budweiser Modified, Truckin Thunder Sportsman and Collision One Limited Stock Car divisions in action.
Competitor gates for Saturday July 25th will open at 4pm with spectator gates opening at 5pm. On track activities will begin at 6:30pm with hot laps and features are schedule for 8pm.
Admission price for adults $12, seniors (60+) $10; military (active/retired w/ proper I.D.) $8, students 11 – 17 years old $6 and children 10 and under admitted free. Pit passes will be $20.
Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway is a ½ mile dirt oval track is located on U.S. Route 17, eight miles north of Saluda, VA and 25 miles south of Tappahannock, VA in Jamaica, VA. The speedway is just a short drive from Richmond, Fredericksburg, Southern Maryland and the Hampton Roads area.
