Season opener for VA Army National Guard Dirt Series competitors at Virginia Motor Speedway this Saturday April 23rd
Jamaica, VA – The wait is over! Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway will swing the gates open for the weekly racers this Saturday April 23RD and host WRAR/WNNT Night at the Races. With an emphasis on Fast Family Fun the 2011 schedule is packed with quality family entertainment from start to finish and is highlighted with 12 weeks of Virginia Army National Guard Dirt Series Championship action.
The evenings events will include four divisions of exciting high octane, side by side dirt track racing. See the Victory Lap Late Model, Truckin Thunder Sportsman, Budweiser Modified and Collision One Limited Stock Car divisions in action. The race for the coveted championships begins now!
Competitor gates for Saturday, April 23RD will open at 3pm with spectator gates opening at 4pm. On track activities will begin at 6:30pm with hot laps. Divisions scheduled to race on Saturday: Victory Lap Late Models (35 Laps); Truckin Thunder Sportsman (25 laps); Budweiser Modifieds (25 Laps); and the Collision One Limited Stock Cars (20 laps). All divisions will run Hot Lap Time Trials and Features. Competitor pit pass and registration window will close at 6:30pm, after that pit passes will be sold at the main ticket office.
Admission price for Adults $10, Seniors and Military $8; Students 13 – 17 years old $7, Children 7 – 12 years old $4 and Children 6 and under admitted free. The speedway also offers a Family Pack (Two Adults and Two Children) for $20.

Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway, an ASA Member Track affiliate, is a 1/2-mile, dirt oval. The track is located on U.S. Route 17, eight miles north of Saluda, VA and 25 miles south of Tappahannock, VA in Jamaica, VA. The speedway is just a short drive from Richmond, Fredericksburg, Southern Maryland and the Hampton Roads areas. Free Camping is available with no hook-ups.
