Virginia Motor Speedway
Championships to be decided this Saturday September 4th on WIGO Championship Night
Jamaica, VA – Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway will host WIGO Championship Night this Saturday September 4th. It will be the last point race of the season for all four of the track’s Virginia Army National Guard Dirt Series divisions. With all the divisional point races tight heading into the final weekend the racing should be intense. Throw in the fact that every competitor is also vying for the coveted Virginia Army National Guard Dirt Series championship, which will crown a track overall track champion, this is a must see event.
The night’s activities will include the Victory Lap Late Models, Truckin Thunder Sportsman, Budweiser Modifieds and the Collision One Limited Stock Cars in Virginia Army National Guard Dirt Series action.
Competitor gates for Saturday, September 4th will open at 4pm with spectator gates opening at 6pm. On track activities will begin at 6:30pm with hot laps. Divisions scheduled to race on Saturday September 4th: Victory Lap Late Models (35 Laps); Truckin Thunder Sportsman (25 Laps); Budweiser Modifieds (25 Laps); and the Collision One Limited Stock Cars (20 laps). All divisions will run Hot Lap Time Trials and Features.
Adult admission is just $10, Senior $8, Military $5, Students 13 –17 yrs old $7, Children 7 – 12 yrs old $4 and Children 6 and under free.
USA 100 – Put September 18th on your calendar as the speedway will host the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series drivers for the $15,000 to win USA 100. It will be the first time in three years that the Lucas Oil series has been back to Jamaica, VA. The event will also include an AMRA Modified $2500 to win event that boasts a $15,555 total purse. Adult ticket are only $25 with Senior (60+) and military (w/proper I.D.) $20; students (7 - 17) $12 and children 6 and under free. Pit passes for the event will be $40. 2010 AWARDS BANQUET: The 2010 Awards Banquet and Dance for Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway is quickly approaching; this years Awards Banquet will be held on Saturday, October 23rd at the beautiful Virginia Beach Convention Center in Virginia Beach, VA. Fans of Virginia Motor Speedway are once again invited to attend the Awards Banquet.
Tickets for this special occasion are only $40 per person and include a buffet dinner, a 2010 Year in Review presentation, dancing and the Awards Ceremony. Special room rates of $64 per night have been established with the newly renovated Double Tree Hotel & Resort, located in the same parking lot as the convention center, and $69 per night at the Quality Inn Oceanfront. All Virginia Motor Speedway drivers, crews and families are encouraged to attend this year’s banquet. There are no limits on the number of tickets a person can order. All ticket purchases must be made by October 15, 2010 by calling the speedway and speaking with Dave Seay or Brian Tidball.
To enhance the fans racing experience the speedway has installed a short wave FM transmitter and all of the evening’s action can be heard at 95.5 FM. So bring your portable radio headset and enjoy hearing all the action.
Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway, an ASA Member Track, is a ½ mile dirt oval track is located on U.S. Route 17, eight miles north of Saluda, VA and 25 miles south of Tappahannock, VA in Jamaica, VA. The speedway is just a short drive from Richmond, Fredericksburg, Southern Maryland and the Hampton Roads area.
