Budweiser / WIGO Night this Saturday July 24th; Championship battles tight
Jamaica, VA - Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway will host Budweiser / WIGO Night at the Races this Saturday July 24th. All four Virginia Army National Guard Dirt Series divisions will be in action featuring the Victory Lap Late Models, Truckin Thunder Sportsman, Budweiser Modified, Collision One Limited Stock Car divisions.
Competitor gates for Saturday, July 24th will open at 3pm with spectator gates opening at 4pm. On track activities will begin at 6:30pm with hot laps. Divisions scheduled to race on Saturday July 24th: Victory Lap Late Models (35 Laps); Truckin Thunder Sportsman (25 Laps); Budweiser Modifieds (25 Laps); and the Collision One Limited Stock Cars (20 laps). All divisions will run Hot Lap Time Trials and Features.
Admission price for Adults $10, seniors $8; military $5, students 13 – 17 years old $7, children 7 to 12 years old $4 and children 6 and under admitted free.
The military discount is for any active, retired, Guard or reserve personnel with proper military I.D.
To enhance the fans racing experience the speedway has installed a short wave FM transmitter and all of the evening’s action can be heard at 95.5 FM. So bring your portable radio headset and enjoy hearing all the action.
CHAMPIONSHIP POINTS: The Championships in all four of the Virginia Army National Guard Dirt Series divisions are extremely tight and will be hotly contested this Saturday night. Heading into this weekend’s action in the Victory Lap Late Model division Scott Adams of Chester, VA holds a 2 point lead over rookie Tim Shelton of Fredericksburg, VA and five points over Stevie Long of Mechanicsville, MD. In the Truckin Thunder Sportsman Michael Roop of Stafford, VA retook the point lead this past weekend and now holds a one point advantage over Roger Jamerson of Mechanicsville, VA and eight points over Todd Traylor of King William, VA. In the Budweiser Modified divisions Brian Maxey of King George, VA extended his advantage over Dan Arnold of Petersburg, VA to nine points. The closest point battle is in the Collision One Limited Stock Car division where the top ten are only separated by forty six points and there is a tie at the top. Joe Ender of Glen Allen, VA and Ryan Toole of Richmond, VA are currently tied atop the standings and six points ahead of third place Kevin Fletcher of Saluda, VA and nine points ahead of Brett Adkins of Gloucester, VA.
KIDS IN UNIFORM NIGHT: Mark Saturday, August 7th on your calendar for one of the tracks most popular promotional nights “Kids in Uniform Night�. Thanks to our sponsors Truckin Thunder, Collision One, Amerigas, WNNT and WRAR all kids in a baseball, softball, soccer, Boy Scout or Girl Scout uniform will be admitted free to the nights activities.
Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway, an ASA Member Track, is a ½ mile dirt oval track is located on U.S. Route 17, eight miles north of Saluda, VA and 25 miles south of Tappahannock, VA in Jamaica, VA.
