Heading into week five of the VMS Dirt Series the point battles continue to be tight. In the Victory Lap Late Models defending champion Justin Williams of Concord, VA holds a 6 point lead over David Williams of Mechanicsville, MD. The top six are all within 22 points. In the Aaron’s Pro Late Model division Tyler Bare of Rockbridge Baths, VA has an eighteen point advantage over Mark Parks of Lynchburg, VA. In four races Bare has scored three wins. After a DNF this week by point leader Matt Quade of Mechanicsville, MD his lead over Brian Maxey of King George, VA is now down to 3 points. The rest of the top 5 only sit 31 points back of. In the Truckin Thunder Sportsman Chad Beahr of Mechanicsville, VA continues atop the points with a 22 point advantage over Tommy Upshaw of King William, VA. Jamaica, VA – If you have ever been involved in a pinewood derby you know how exciting it is not only for the kids but for the adults. Saturday May 2nd Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway will bring that excitement and fun to the speedway as it hosts the 4th Annual Dirtwood Nationals Pinewood Derby as part of Truckin Thunder Scout Night. “We are extremely excited to once again host this event and to help raise money and awareness for ChildHelp. We have to thank Tom and Judy Brooks of Truckin Thunder for the amount of effort they put into this event and for being such a great sponsor,” commented General Manager Clarke Sawyer. Gates will open at 3pm for registration with the Dirtwood National Pinewood Derby starting at 4pm. After the Dirtwood Nationals all Scouts (Boy Scouts, Cub Scouts and Girl Scouts) if wearing their uniform, will get free admission to enjoy a night of full sized dirt car racing. That means some of the nations top dirt late model drivers will be making the trip to the ½ mile speed plant located in Jamaica, VA. The event will be sanctioned by the Ultimate Super Late Model Series and will feature a 60 lap feature paying the winner a cool $20,000. It is the richest race of the season for Virginia Motor Speedway and the highest paying event on the Ultimate Super Late Model Series schedule. The event will also include a $3000 to win Fastrak Pro Late Model National Touring event. A Sunday April 12th rain date has been established if needed. Fans can expect to see the best in national and regional dirt late model drivers for this highly anticipated event. Defending Ultimate Super Late Model Series Champion Dennis Franklin, current point leader Dustin Mitchell, two-time series champion Casey Roberts, Jeff Smith, Casey Barrow and the rest of the Ultimate Series regulars will have their hands full as they compete against TireX USA 100 Champion Chris Ferguson, Ricky Elliott, Jason Covert, Jamie Lathroum and a host of other regional hot shoes for the top prize. Jamaica, VA – The tentative 2015 schedule for Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway has been released and includes 12 weeks of Virginia Army National Guard Dirt Series action, three special events and two mud bogs. The track’s always competitive weekly divisions begin their race for the division Championships and the Virginia Army National Guard Dirt Series Championship on Saturday April 18th and end with the final point’s race of the season on Saturday September 5th. This year’s division line-up will once again include the Victory Lap Late Models, Aaron’s Pro Late Models, Truckin Thunder Sportsman, Budweiser Modifieds and the Collision One Limited Stock Cars. Opening up the 2015 season will be the Aaron’s King of the Commonwealth sanctioned by the very popular Ultimate Super Late Model Series. The one day $20,000 event is expected to bring some of the nationals top super late model drivers back to the Commonwealth of Virginia for what will be one of the best races of the year. The Ultimate Super Late Model Series will then return on Saturday May 16th as they sanction the 37th Annual USA 100. For the first time the speedway will host two, $3000 to win Fastrak Pro Late Model “National Bonus Race” events in conjunction with both super late model events, making both events a late model fans dream. After producing one of the best races in the track’s history the Fastrak World Championship will return to the 2015 schedule. The “Super Bowl” of Pro Late Model racing is scheduled for September 18 – 19, 2015. The event will feature two, $3000 to win events on Friday, September 18th and the $15,000 to win finale on Saturday, September 19th that will crown the Fastrak Pro Late Model World Champion. More details about the Fastrak World Championship will be released in the very near future. Along with the weekly racing action and the special events the speedway will also host two mud bogs at its state of the art mud bog facility that will be celebrating its eleventh year of racing. On Saturday June 20th “The Pit at VMS” will host the 7th Annual Down and Dirty Mud Mayhem and on Saturday October 10th the 11th Annual Down and Dirty Run-A-Muck Mud Bog and Mud Sling presented by James River Equipment and the Virginia Army National Guard. Jamaica, VA — Officials at Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway are excited to announce the dates for the track’s two Super Late Model special events in 2015. As in past season’s the 2015 season will get the green flag with the running of the $20,000 to win King of the Commonwealth on Saturday April 11th. This year the event will be sanctioned by the Ultimate Super Late Model Series. A support division is being discussed and will be announced in the next few weeks. The second special event of the season will once again be the $10,000 to win USA 100 on Saturday May 16th and will once again be sanctioned by the Ultimate Super Late Model Series.
