Jamaica, VA – It may have been cold outside, but the action on the track during the Powertrain Control Solutions Eddie Boomhower Memorial presented by whosYourDriver.org, RVA Flat Track motorcycle was hot. Sixteen amateur and pro divisions put on a phenomenal show for the fans in attendance. Yamaha rider Aidan Roosevans of O’Fallon, Illinois used the racey surface to its full potential, sweeping the DASH for CASH and features in both the 450 PRO, and the Open PRO classes. Also grabbing wins during the Eddie Boomhower Memorial were Shawn Baer in the Hooligans class, Don Bromley in Pro Twins, Skylar Sentell in Open AM and 450 AM, Adam Costan in 250 AM, John Pero in Vintage Heavy, Charlie Roberts in Vintage Light, Rick Winsell, Jr in the 30+ and Dave Kilkenny in 50+, Tim Norris in Mad Dog, Ella Nickens in 50cc, Jayden Nickens in 65cc, and Jayden Nickens in 85cc. The speedway will host Pepsi Opening Night of Dirt Series Championship weekly racing this Saturday, April 13. See the Victory Lap Pro Late Model, Truckin Thunder Sportsman, Budweiser Modified, and Joe Hudson’s Collision Centers Limited Stock Car divisions in some exciting side-by-side action. Adult general admission tickets are only $25, students 13 – 17 are $15, and children 12 and under are admitted free. Pit passes are $30, regardless of age. Once the rain stopped, the staff worked the track and got it back in phenomenal shape to go back to racing. And a track that provided the fans in person and online with some fantastic racing action. Jamaica, VA – Flat track motorcycle racing is returning to the ½ mile at Virginia Motor Speedway Saturday, July 15, 2023, for the RVA Flat Track sanctioned Eddie Boomhower Memorial. “We are excited for the return of Flat Track motorcycle racing to the speedway. Eddie (Boomhower) did so much for not only the speedway but flat track motorcycle racing in the State of Virginia, we are honored to host this event in his memory,” commented track owner Bill Sawyer. Eddie Boomhower began his career as a flat-track motorcycle racer, winning numerous awards. After ten years of racing motorcycles, he entered the business end and owned Richmond Harley-Davidson for 25 years. After selling the dealership and retiring, he moved back to Portsmouth, VA, and opened his retirement business Boomhower Cycle Specialties. In 2006 Eddie approached the Sawyers about bringing back Flat Track motorcycles after a 30-year absence. The speedway held the American Flat Track sanctioned Joe Weatherly Memorial in 2006 and 2007. The July 15th event will mark sixteen years since the last ½ mile flat track race in Virginia was run.
