JUSTIN WILLIAMS HOLDS OFF RAY LOVE, JR FOR PRO LATE MODEL VICTORY AT VIRGINIA MOTOR SPEEDWAY; SOLINGER, SHELTON, AND MAXEY ALSO VISIT VICTORY LANE

Jamaica, VA – Defending Victory Lap Pro Late Model champion Justin Williams of Concord, VA held off fast qualifier Ray Love, Jr. LaPlata, MD to score the win on the opening night of the 2022 season. Williams’s race began by having to hold off Austin Hubbard over the first 15 laps of the 30 lap feature. Once in traffic Williams began to pull away from the field as Love made his move to take second from Hubbard. Love would take second on lap 20. The caution would fly on lap 21 to tighten the field on Williams’s bumper for the restart. Williams would get a good restart pulling Love by a couple of car lengths. The distance between them would disappear as Love began to reel in Williams with the laps winding down. With five to go Love was looking inside Williams in both corners trying to find an opening. Love would not be able to find one as Williams would hold on for the victory. Rounding out the top five were Hubbard, Nick Love, and Matthew Hildebrand. In the Budweiser Modified 25 lap feature Jeff Solinger of Bumpass, VA led flag to flag to pick up the victory. TJ DeHaven of Winchester, VA kept Solinger honest by staying within a car length throughout the entire 25 lap distance. Fast Qualifier Ryan Toole would have to pull in early on lap 11 with mechanical issues after taking the fourth spot. Rounding out the top five were Rick Hulson, Lance Grady, and defending champion Chase Butler. Tim Shelton of Fredericksburg, VA swept the night in Truckin Thunder Sportsman action by setting fast time and then leading flag to flag to score the victory. Steve Causey of Smithfield, VA would pressure Shelton for the first 21 laps before Shelton pulled away to take the victory by 3.55 seconds. Rounding out the top 5 were Matt Meads, Tommy Upshaw, and James Givens. In what may have been the most exciting race of the evening, Brian Maxey of Fredericksburg, VA held off Raymond Harper of Gloucester, VA to take home the victory by .205 seconds. Maxey would dart from his fourth-place starting spot to take the lead on the opening lap. On lap 8 Harper began to apply pressure to Maxey’s back bumper. On lap 13 Harper pulled door to door with Maxey heading into turn 3. Coming out of turn 4 Harper would spin doing a 360 and keeping his momentum going forward, but in the process losing ground to Maxey. A caution would fly and close Harper back on Maxey’s bumper for the restart. The speedway will return to racing Saturday, April 30 to host week 2 of Dirt Series Championship weekly racing action featuring the Victory Lap Pro Late Models, Budweiser Modifieds, Truckin Thunder Sportsman, and Collision One Limited Stock Cars in action. Competitor gates for Saturday, April 30th will open at 3 pm with spectator gates opening at 5 pm. On-track activities will begin at 5:45 pm with hot laps. Jamaica, VA – The 2022 driver registration and driver information sheets are now updated on the website. 2020 registrations are now being accepted. Please make sure you send in all three forms when registering, as it will speed up the process on opening night April 9. You will need to fill out a Driver Registration, Driver Information Sheet, and W9. SPEEDWAY RELEASES TENTATIVE 2022 SCHEDULE OF EVENTS

Jamaica, VA – Virginia Motor Speedway officials are excited to release the 2022 schedule. It will mark the 53rd season of action at the ½ mile speed plant in Jamaica, VA. The schedule includes the always exciting VMS Dirt Series Weekly Racing action, the return of two Ultimate Super Late Model sanctioned events – the May 21st $20,000 to win Virginia is for Racing Lovers King of the Commonwealth and the August 6th $20,000 to win 46th Annual Ernie Shelton’s USA 100; the August 21st $3000 to win Prelude to the World Championship for FASTRAK Pro Late Models, and the return of the FASTRAK World Championship weekend, and two mud bogs at the facilities state-of-the-art 200 mud bog pit. The 2022 season will open on Saturday, April 9th, with Dirt Series Championship weekly racing action featuring a full program that will include the Victory Lap Pro Late Model, Truckin Thunder Sportsman, Budweiser Modified, and Collision One Limited Stock divisions in action. The Dirt Series Champion weekly racing season will conclude on Saturday, August 27th, with the crowning of the speedway’s champions in each division. Speedway Releases 2022 Mud Bog Dates

Jamaica, VA – The Pit at Virginia Motor Speedway officials are excited to release the dates for the 2022 mud bog events. Fans are sure to want to mark their calendars for what will be another stellar year for the state-of-the-art mud bog facility in Jamaica, VA. The Pit will host two of the East Coast’s premier mud bog events. The 13th annual Mud Mayhem will be held on Saturday, May 14th, and the 18th annual Run-A-Muck Mud Bog is scheduled for Saturday, October 8th, with a Saturday, October 17th rain date if needed. There will be eleven classes of “Mud Maniacs” in action ranging from super stock to unlimited, with cash payouts in all 11 divisions. Competitors are encouraged to visit www.thepitatvms.com to download rules packages. The Pro Mega Truck and Obstacle X divisions will run a short course for time. Plans are to make a few changes to the course before October 8th. Not only will fans get to see hordes of trucks splashing through the 200 foot Mud Bog pit, but they will also get the opportunity to see some of the region’s best Mud Dragsters covering the 200 foot Mud Sling pit in under three seconds. Speedway Releases 2022 Super Late Model Special Event Dates

Jamaica, VA – Virginia Motor Speedway officials are excited to release the dates for the speedway’s 2022 Super Late Model special events. Fans are sure to want to mark their calendars for what will be another stellar year for super late model action at the ½ mile speed plant in Jamaica, VA. The speedway will host two of the East Coast’s premier Super Late Model events, the Virginia Is For Racing Lovers King of the Commonwealth and Ernie Shelton’s USA100, both will pay $20,000 to win. “The super late model events here at the speedway have been phenomenal; if these two dates are not on your calendar yet, they should be,” commented track owner Bill Sawyer. On Saturday, May 21st, the always exciting Ultimate Super Late Model Series will return for the $20,000 to win Virginia is for Racing Lovers King of the Commonwealth. Last season Brandon Overton of Evans, GA, took home the victory. August 6th, the Ultimate Super Late Model Series stars, and cars will return for Ernie Shelton’s 46th Annual USA 100 and pay $20,000 to win. “We are so very proud to have our schedule anchored by our two biggest events of the year at VMS. 17th ANNUAL RUN-A-MUCK MUD BOG HUGE SUCCESS

Jamaica, VA – A large crowd witnessed some of the best mud trucks in the region, battling the very tough 200′ pit on Saturday, October 2, 2021, during the 17th Annual Run-a-Muck Mud Bog presented by Estes Expres Lines, Atlantic Broadband, and WhosYourDriver.org, and our associate sponsors Truckin Thunder, Collision One, Atkins Propane, E & E Caulking, Virginia Tourism Department / Virginia Is For Racing Lovers, Gary’s Transmission, and After Hours Fabrication. With the cameras of MAVTV on hand to film three Lucas On the Edge shows, the event saw a record number of Pro Mega Trucks (20) all vying for the $5000 top prize. When it was all said and done Joseph Hilton, driving Live Entertainment, took home the big check. Other winners were Blake Webb, driving Plan B, who won both Super Stock A & B, which also won him the Atkins Propane King of the Hill $500 bonus. Charlie Wood, driving Mudwesier, once again dominated both the Modified A & B divisions, again taking home the $500 Atkins Propane King of the Hill bonus. Chris Carver, driving UR Mom, took home the win in the Pro Mod A division, and Kevin Cozort, driving All Geared Up, took home the win in the Pro Mod B division. Thomas Small, driving Darkhorse, made the trip from Maine a success by taking the win in the Unlimited Bog division. Continued Tire Shortages Force Cancellation of FASTRAK World Championship

Jamaica, Virginia – With Hoosier’s continued tire shortages and after exhausting all avenues available to get enough FT200 and FT400 tires to cover the number of cars expected to compete in the 2021 FASTRAK World Championship two-day event, officials at Virginia Motor Speedway and FASTRAK Racing have made the difficult decision to cancel the event for 2021. “I do appreciate VMS working with us during the struggle with tires. The World Championship is our biggest profit event of the entire season, and as badly as we hate to cancel it, what choice do we really have? Unfortunately, FT90’s are not scheduled to be produced until October, so that doesn’t do us much good for a World Championship this year. That being the case, we decided the thing to do is keep the tires they were making for us in inventory so they could be cured well and have tires to start next season with,” commented FASTRAK Owner/Founder Stan Lester. Lester added, “I know people will suggest that we go to open tire. Well, that’s a little hard to do since there is no compatible tire to the FT200, plus making every competitor have every tire compound of every crate spec tire would be a ridiculous amount of money and not all crate teams can afford that. It’s an impossible situation to be in, but we don’t manufacture tires, so it’s completely out of our hands. The bottom line is this. If there are not enough tires in stock for every team to have three sets of tires, then we have to wait on supply and let it catch up.” The decision to cancel this year’s event is not an emotional decision; it has been based on actual facts that are business-related and that every track, Series, and sanction, asphalt and dirt, has been dealing with all year. Based on Hoosier’s tire production schedule, the time of year they will be released, and the other events already scheduled late in the year, the event just did not have a place to go. “This decision did not come lightly. The track and the Series have worked for over a month now to see if we could rectify the tire issue in advance of the World Championship weekend. We have been in constant contact with Hoosier about the availability of the FASTRAK FT200 and FT400 tires and have not come up with enough tires for every competitor to have the same chance at getting tires. The FASTRAK World Championship has been our season-ending crown jewel for seven years, and it has been gaining the momentum in fan and competitor support that we have been working towards since the first World Championship at our speedway,” commented Virginia Motor Speedway owner Bill Sawyer. All efforts now will be on the 2022 FASTRAK World Championship and more. Quade Scores Second Pro Late Model Victory; Lipscombe, Brooks returned to Victory Lane, and Lance Grady Grabs Career First Modified Win

Jamaica, VA – Matt Quade of Avenue, VA, grabbed the lead on the opening lap and led flag to flag to score his second Victory Lap Pro Late Model win of the season. With only one caution on lap 4 Quade kept a steady pace in front of the battle for second between Chuck Bowie, Justin Williams, and Jeremy Pilkerton. With the action behind him, Quade cruised to the win. “The car drove the best it has driven all year; I can’t thank my dad and crew for all the work they put on this car; I could drive it anywhere it needed to go,” commented Quade in WhosYourDriver.org victory lane. Justin Williams of Concord, VA, was crowned the 2021 Victory Lap Pro Late Model Champion. His third division championship in a row. “We had a great year considering the caliber of talent we have here (Virginia Motor Speedway0, I can’t think my crew for all the work they put into this week end and week out,” commented Williams when asked about his championship season. No one has ever gone undefeated, that is until Davis Lipscombe of Mechanicsville, VA, parked his #71 in WhosYourDriver.org victory lane for the seventh time in a row. This victory did not come easy, though, as Lipcombe got caught up in a wreck on the opening lap. That sent him to the rear for the restart. Several cautions helped Lipscombe work through some of the slower traffic. On a lap 9 restart, Tim Shelton worked inside Tyler Shipp for the lead, with Lipscombe following to second. On the following lap, Lipscombe took the lead from Shelton. A caution on lap 25 closed the field up on the leader’s tail. On the restart, Shelton gave Lipscombe a boot heading into turn 1, allowing Shelton to take the lead. On the next lap Lipscombe would take back the lead from Shelton. Over the next three laps, the two raced side-by-side until Lipscombe took control out of the final corner to score the victory and remain undefeated. Rounding out the top five were Shelton, Tyler Shipp, Matt Ashworth, and Matt Meads. Davis Lipscombe was crowned the 2021 Truckin Thunder Sportsman Champion. In the Budweiser Modified feature, Austin Holcombe jumped out to the lead with working his way to second. From lap 10 to lap 15 Holcombe and Arnold were working their way through traffic. Then, on lap 17, Daniel Parker got into the side of Arnold, sending both to the infield. Once back under green, Holcombe would be lead every lap of the remaining 13 laps for what looked like the win. But a disqualification handed the win to Lance Grady, his career first win. Rounding out the top five were Jeff Solinger, Ryan Toole, Josh Harris, and Chase Butler. Chase Butler of Mechanicsville, VA, was crowned the 2021 Budweiser Modified Champion. Butler scored two wins, 7 top 5’s, and 7 top 10’s. In the Collision One Limited Stock Car 25 lap feature Johnny Brooks grab the lead on the opening lap and never looked back. Once out front Brooks kept a comfortable distance between himself and second place. On lap 6, point leader Brian Maxey and James Givens got together in turn 3 to bring out the caution and sending them to the rear of the field. Over the remaining 19 laps, Brooks would cruise out to a comfortable lead, one he would not relinquish. Rounding out the top five were Brian Maxey, Raymond Harper, Jay Seward, and James Givens. Brian Maxey of King George, VA, was crowned the 2021 Collision One Limited Stock Car Champion. Speedway to Host Truckin Thunder Championship Night Saturday, September 4th

Jamaica, VA – After several rainouts Virginia Motor Speedway officials are excited to return to Saturday, September 4th, and host Truckin Thunder Championship Night and week 11 of Dirt Series Championship weekly racing action. The track will crown champions in all four of the speedway’s Dirt Series Championship divisions in action. See the Victory Lap Pro Late Models, Truckin Thunder Sportsman, Budweiser Modified, and Collision One Limited Stock Cars in some exciting side-by-side racing that will decide who gets crowned champion. Competitor gates for Saturday, September 4th, will open at 3 pm with spectator gates opening at 5 pm. On-track activities will begin at 6 pm for hot laps. Divisions scheduled to race on Saturday, September 4: Victory Lap Pro Late Models (35 Laps); Budweiser Modifieds (30 laps); Truckin Thunder Sportsman (30 laps) and the Collision One Limited Stock Cars (25 laps). All divisions will run Hot Lap Time Trials and Features. Admission price for Adults $12, seniors (60+) $10; military (active/retired w/ proper I.D.) $8, students 11 – 17 years old $6 and children 10 and under admitted free. Pit passes will be $25. Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway is a ½ mile dirt oval track located on U.S. Route 17, eight miles north of Saluda, VA and 25 miles south of Tappahannock, VA in Jamaica, VA.
