Speedway Crowns 2016 Champions; Polevoy crowned Aaron’s Dirt Series Champion

Jamaica, VA – Bill Sawyers Virginia Motor Speedway officially wrapped up the 2016 season by recognizing the top ten in each of the track’s divisions with special attention reserved for the 2016 champions. During the night’s events almost $36,000 in cash and prizes were awarded, of that almost $27,000 was in cash. Justin Williams of Concord, VA was crowned the 2016 Victory Lap Pro Late Model Champion and received a check for $5,000 for his efforts. Williams also received a $500 certificate from the Joie of Seating, a custom calendar from Al Goulder Photography, his Championship helmet trophy and his Champions jacket from Hoosier Tire Mid-Atlantic. The title was Williams fourth in a row after winning the last three Limited Late Model titles at Virginia Motor Speedway. Roger Jamerson of Mechanicsville, VA was crowned the 2016 Truckin Thunder Sportsman Champion and received a check for $1,000 for his efforts. Jamerson also received a $500 certificate from the Joie of Seating, a custom calendar from Al Goulder Photography, his Championship helmet trophy and his Champions jacket from Hoosier Tire Mid-Atlantic. This was Jamerson’s twelfth Truckin Thunder Sportsman title and thirteenth overall. Jamerson also scored his 200th win of his career during the 2016 season. Joey Polevoy of Powhatan, VA was crowned the 2016 Budweiser Modified Champion and received a check for $1,000, a $500 certificate from the Joie of Seating, a custom calendar from Al Goulder Photography, his Championship helmet trophy and his Champions jacket from Hoosier Tire Mid-Atlantic. Ryan Hutchens of Providence Forge, VA won the 2016 Collision One Limited Stock Car Championship for the second year in a row. Hutchens received a check for $700, a $500 certificate from the Joie of Seating, a custom calendar from Al Goulder Photography his Championship helmet trophy and his Champions jacket from Hoosier Tire Mid-Atlantic. The speedway also crowns an overall Aaron’s Dirt Series Champion which pits all four divisions against each other. Joey Polevoy on the strength of his four wins won the overall Championship and received a $2000 check and the special eagle trophy that goes along with winning the title. Aaron’s also presented Polevoy with a 40” Magnavox Smart LED HDTV television. Special achievement award winners for the 2016 season included: The Pitts Lumber Rookies of the Year were Brent Bordeaux of Fredericksburg, VA in Victory Lap Pro Late Models; Sean Owens of Chesapeake, VA in Truckin Thunder Sportsman; Adam Hoegerl of Gloucester, VA in Budweiser Modifieds and Ryan Hutchens of Providence Forge, VA in the Collision One Limited Stock Car division. Each winner received a plaque and $250. It was announced during the banquet that the season will start April 1, 2017 with Aaron’s Dirt Series Championship weekly racing and that the Aaron’s King of the Commonwealth, USA 100 presented by Commonwealth Motorsports, both sanctioned by the Ultimate Super Late Model Series, will pay $20,000 as will the season ending FASTRAK World Championship presented by James River Equipment for FASTRAK Pro Late Models....

2016 Awards Banquet tickets Now on Sale

Jamaica, VA – Virginia Motor Speedway will celebrate the 2016 season and officially bring it to a close with the 2016 Awards Banquet on Saturday, October 29, 2016. The event will once again be held at the beautiful Double Tree Hotel and Resort in Virginia Beach, VA. Tickets are currently on sale and can be purchased by going to the Speedway’s website at www.vamotorspeedway.com and printing off the order form or by calling Dave Seay or Brian Tidball at the Speedway’s office Monday through Friday between the hours of 10am and 3pm. Tickets can be purchased with a Mastercard, Visa or Discover by calling the speedway. Tickets for this special occasion are only $40 per person and include a buffet dinner and the Awards Ceremony. Special room rates of $65 per night have been established with the newly renovated Double Tree Hotel & Resort and $58 per night at the Quality Inn Oceanfront. All Virginia Motor Speedway drivers, crews and families are encouraged to attend this year’s banquet. There are no limits on the number of tickets a person can order. All ticket purchases must be made by October 19, 2014. Fans of Virginia Motor Speedway are once again invited to attend the Awards Banquet. During the evenings award ceremony over $55,000 in cash and contingencies will be handed out to the Speedway’s five Champions and the remainder of the top 10 in each division. The Victory Lap Pro Late Model Champion will receive $5,000 for winning his championship. The Speedway will also crown the 2016 Aaron’s Dirt Series Champion and award him or her with a $2000 check. The Aaron’s Dirt Series Championship pits all of the Speedway’s competitors against each other and crowning one overall Champion. One of the most exciting and memorable times during the Awards Banquet weekend is the annual go-kart race that is held at Motoworld in Virginia Beach. Jamaica, VA – The Pit at Virginia Motor Speedway hit the Trifecta this past Saturday with great weather, a huge crowd and an overflowing pit full of competitors for the 12th Annual Down and Dirty Run-A-Muck Mud Bog and Mud Sling presented by James River Equipment and Commonwealth Motorsports. The event was also sponsored by Aaron’s, Northern Neck Chevrolet, Atkins Petroleum & Propane, After Hours Fabrication, Collision One, Mud Book, Kings of Mud, The Metal Shop and Truckin Thunder. Overall 102 different competitors took turns at the state of the art 200 foot pit for a total of 221 registered passes. The day also saw the successful introduction of two new divisions with Mechanicsville, VA’s Matthew Underwood in Hells Bells taking the win in Unlimited X Tractor and King William, VA’s Ray Adkins in Haulin’ Gas taking the win in Obstacle X. Both divisions were the first to run a short course for time. Winners in each class: Super Stock A and B – Casey Coates in Doin’ It Dirty; Modified A and B – Charlie Wood in Mudweiser; Pro Mod A – Blake Messer in Whiskey Bent; Pro Mod B – Kyle Lohmeyer in Showtime; Unlimited Bog – Kenney Baugher in Assassin; Unlimited X Tractor – Matthew Underwood in Hells Bells; Obstacle X – Ray Atkins in Haulin’ Gas; X Cut Dragster – Jason Massie in Intensity; XX Paddle Dragster – Dale Ellenberger in Touch of Madness. The Atkins Petroleum & Propane “King of the Hill” Double Down Bonus was offered again to anyone that could win both the A & B classes in the Super Stock, Modified or Pro Mod divisions. It happened twice with Casey Coates in Doin’ It Dirty taking both Stock classes and newcomer Charlie Wood in Mudwesier taking the win in both Modified classes. Each driver received a $500 bonus for being the “King of the Hill”. The Mega Maniac Challenge presented by Northern Neck Chevrolet offered a $1000 bonus to the winner of the new Unlimited X Tractor and it went to Matthew Underwood in Hells Bells. His first ever win in the class was worth $2000 total. The Mud Book Crown presented by Kings of Mud and The Metal Shop this year offered the winner of the Unlimited Bog division a one of a kind trophy and a $750 bonus.
