Jamaica, VA — The speedway will return to racing this Saturday June 11th to host week nine of the 2015 VMS Dirt Series season featuring the Victory Lap Late Model, Aaron’s Pro Late Model, Budweiser Modified, Truckin Thunder Sportsman and Collision One Limited Stock Car divisions in action. Competitor gates for Saturday July 11th will open at 4pm with spectator gates opening at 5pm. On track activities will begin at 6:30pm with hot laps and features are schedule for 8pm. Admission price for adults $12, seniors (60+) $10; military (active/retired w/ proper I.D.) $8, students 11 – 17 years old $6 and children 10 and under admitted free. Pit passes will be $20. Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway is a ½ mile dirt oval track is located on U.S. Route 17, eight miles north of Saluda, VA and 25 miles south of Tappahannock, VA in Jamaica, VA. Jamaica, VA – Due to torrential rains and additional wet weather forecasted for tonight and all day tomorrow officials at Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway officials have canceled racing for Saturday June 27th. It is the second rainout for the month of June and of the season. “This area has been hammered by torrential rains over the last several nights resulting in standing water around the facility and with the forecast calling for more heavy rain tonight and all day tomorrow we felt it best to go ahead and cancel tomorrow’s events”, commented track General Manager Clarke Sawyer. Record Breaking Kind of Day During 8thAnnual Down & Dirty Mud Mayhem presented by James River Equipment

Jamaica, VA – A hot and humid afternoon led to some great mud bogging at The Pit at Virginia Motor Speedway. The 8th Annual Down & Dirty Mud Mayhem presented by James River Equipment saw four division records broken during the days competition. The event was also sponsored by Aaron’s, Atkins Petroleum & Propane, Kalbone’s Speed & Off Road, After Hours Fabrication, Collision One and Truckin Thunder. The great crowd was treated to some incredible runs in both the mud bog and mud sling pits. The day of setting new records also spilled over to the competitors, as several division records were broken during competition. In all four division track records were broken. Heading into the competition E&E Caulking sponsored the Tapole’s Break the Record Challenge which paid out an additional $100 bonus to break a record. In the Aaron’s Pro Mod B division Kenny Crowder in Mr. Nasty Time set a new record with a run of 4.211 seconds that ended in a spectacular crash at the end. Crowder would emerge unhurt. In the Down and Dirty Unlimited Bog division The Pit’s “Fastest Woman” proved again she is fast with a record setting 3.802 second run. The James River Equipment X Cut and Victory Lap XX Paddle dragster divisions were dominated by New York’s Kelly Odell as he set the fastest pass ever in the history of The Pit with a 1.987 second run in the XX Paddle’s. He also broke the X Cut record with a run of 2.267 seconds. Overall 68 different competitors took turns at the state of the art 200 foot pit for a total of 156 registered passes. Winners in each class: Super Stock A – Neil McClanan in Never Enough; Super Stock B – Kyle Slaughter in Step-A-Side; Modified A and B – Tonya Ricks in Dancin With the Devil; Pro Mod A – Spence Messick Jr. in Mud Runner; Pro Mod B – Kenny Crowder in Mr. Nasty Time; Unlimited Bog – Tonya Ricks in Dacin With the Devil; X Class & XX Class – Kelly Odell in Under Pressure. The Atkins Petroleum & Propane “King of the Hill” Double Down Bonus was offered again to anyone that could win both the A & B classes in the Super Stock, Modified or Pro Mod divisions. Tonya Ricks in Dancin with the Devil was able to take home the $500 bonus by winning both classes in the Modified division. Tonya Ricks also picked up a $100 bonus from Guthrie and Sons Heating & Cooling by having the fastest time in After Hours Fabrication Mod A competition. It is the first rainout of the season. “The week long rain has flooded the grounds and made it impossible to get the track and parking areas into an acceptable safe condition for tomorrow’s events so we unfortunately have to cancel tomorrow’s event”, commented track General Manager Clarke Sawyer. The speedway will take next week off and then move over to the mud bog facility to host the first of two big Mud Bog events for the 2015 season. Heading into week five of the VMS Dirt Series the point battles continue to be tight. In the Victory Lap Late Models defending champion Justin Williams of Concord, VA holds a 6 point lead over David Williams of Mechanicsville, MD. The top six are all within 22 points. In the Aaron’s Pro Late Model division Tyler Bare of Rockbridge Baths, VA has an eighteen point advantage over Mark Parks of Lynchburg, VA. In four races Bare has scored three wins. After a DNF this week by point leader Matt Quade of Mechanicsville, MD his lead over Brian Maxey of King George, VA is now down to 3 points. The rest of the top 5 only sit 31 points back of. In the Truckin Thunder Sportsman Chad Beahr of Mechanicsville, VA continues atop the points with a 22 point advantage over Tommy Upshaw of King William, VA. In the Collision One Limited Stock Car division Ryan Hutchens of Providence Forge, VA continues to hold on to the top spot with a 4 point advantage over Chad Champion of Beaverdam, VA. Competitor gates for Saturday June 6th will open at 4pm with spectator gates opening at 5pm. On track activities will begin at 6:30pm with hot laps and features will start at 8pm.
