Stevie Long Finally Gets Victory Lap Late Model Victory; Arnold, Jamerson and Adkins also get wins.

Jamaica, VA – During the month of July Stevie Long of Mechanicsville, MD had earned the name Mr. Heartbreak as he dealt with motor problems that took him out of the Championship point chase in the Victory Lap Late Model division at Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway. With a victory everything changed. Tim Shelton and Tom Cohick led the field to green with Cohick leading the first circuit followed closely by Long. Two quick cautions both on lap 2 put Long right on Cohick’s bumper. On the restart Long tried to get inside Cohick but couldn’t make the pass. On the next circuit Long tried once again to get inside Cohick this time in turn 4 but once again Cohick was up to the challenge. On lap 7 David Williams joined the battle for the lead. Over the next six laps the top three looked for ways around the others. On lap 14 Long got under Cohick once again in turn 2, this time the two touched with Long coming out with the lead. On the next lap Williams would get by Cohick for second and set out to reel in the leader. On lap 18 Williams began to pressure Long for the lead. As the two raced through lapped traffic Long began to pull away. Over the final twenty laps Long worked traffic to perfection on way to his first victory of 2010. “After the month of July we had it sure feels great to finally shake the monkey off our back. The track was awesome tonight you couldn’t ask for a better surface to race on,” commented Long in victory lane. Rounding out the top five were David Williams, Matt Marshall, Scott Adams and Davis Lipscombe. In other action Dan Arnold of Petersburg, VA took home the victory in the Budweiser Modifieds. In the Truckin Thunder Sportsman Roger Jamerson of Mechanicsville, VA took home the victory and in the Collision One Limited Stock Cars Brett Adkins of Gloucester, VA got the victory....
