Speedway to Return to Action This Saturday July 14th

Jamaica, VA – This Saturday July 14th Virginia Motor Speedway returns to racing and will host week 8 of Aaron’s Dirt Series Championship weekly racing featuring the Victory Lap Pro Late Models, Truckin Thunder Sportsman, Budweiser Modified and Collision One Limited Stock Cars in some exciting side by side racing! The action on the track has been as hot as the temperatures with three of the four Aaron’s Dirt Series Championship divisions having three different winners in as many events. Will that trend continue this Saturday night in the Pro Late Model, Sportsman and Modified divisions? With the caliber of competition that races weekly at VMS the chances are high that it just may happen. Heading into this weekend’s action point leader Corey Almond of Appomattox, VA holds a 8 point advantage over Matt Quade of Mechanicsville, MD in the Victory Lap Pro Late Model division; in the Truckin Thunder Sportsman Joe Weiss of Elizabeth City, NC holds a slim 3 point lead over both defending Champion Tim Shelton of Fredericksburg, VA and Steve Causey of Smithfield, VA; in the Budweiser Modified division Hunter McClendon of Williamsburg, VA holds a 7 point advantage over rookie Chase Butler of Mechanicsville, VA and in the Collision One Limited Stock Cars defending Champion James Givens of Sandston, VA unofficially holds a 6 point advantage over Chad Champion of Bumpass, VA. Jamaica, VA – Saturday June 16th one regional super late model driver’s career could change in the span of 60 laps with a career best win and a $20,000 payday for winning the 42nd annual USA 100 presented by WhosYourDriver.org at Virginia Motor Speedway. With both national tour’s scheduled to race in other areas of the country, the USA 100 is set to be one of the largest paydays for the East Coast’s regional super late model drivers. And with such a big payday on the line, some of the best dirt late model drivers in the region will be making the trip to the ½ mile speed plant located in Jamaica, VA. The event will be sanctioned by the Ultimate Super Late Model Series and will feature a 60 lap A-Main paying the winner a cool $20,000. Speedway Cancels Racing Activities for Saturday June 2nd

Jamaica, VA – Speedway management has made the decision to cancel racing activities for Saturday June 2nd due to the unfavorable forecast that includes heavy thunderstorms and a Flash Flood Warning until early Sunday Morning. This is the second rainout of the 2018 season. The speedway will now host Gloucester S.T.A.R. Kids Night and week 6 of the Aaron’s Dirt Series Champion weekly racing season Saturday June 9th. The night will feature the Victory Lap Late Models, Truckin Thunder Sportsman, Budweiser Modified and Collision One Limited Stock Car divisions in action. “We are extremely disappointed in losing another race to weather, but the safety of our fans, competitors and staff is our utmost concern and would not want to take a chance of putting them or their families in any kind of danger”, commented track General Manager Clarke Sawyer. Sawyer added, “S.T.A.R. Kids Night is very special to us which makes this decision even more difficult, but we will move their night to next Saturday June 9th.” The S.T.A.R. program provides athletics, games and social time to children with special needs. Speedway Set to Open 2018 Season Saturday April 7th; $20,000 to win Aaron’s King of the Commonwealth Set for April 14th

Jamaica, VA – The beginning of April at Virginia Motor Speedway is going to be action packed to say the least. To start it off the gates swing open to the track’s 2018 season of Aaron’s Dirt Series Championship weekly racing next Saturday April 7th with WRAR / WNNT Night at the races. Then the following week the focus will shift to the $20,000 to win Aaron’s King of the Commonwealth, the first of five special events scheduled for the season. The anticipation for the first race of the season has been escalating over the last several weeks and fans and competitors alike are excited to get the speedway’s 49th season underway. The 49thAnnual season opening event will take place on Saturday evening April 7th featuring a full program of Aaron’s Dirt Series Championship weekly racing action that will include the Victory Lap Pro Late Model, Truckin Thunder Sportsman, Budweiser Modified and Collision One Limited Stock divisions. Competitor gates for Saturday, April 7th will open at 12pm for inspection and registration for all competitors. Spectator gates opening at 5pm with on track activities beginning around 5pm with hot laps. There will be a mandatory drivers meeting at 4:45pm. 2018 DRIVER REGISTRATION NOW OPEN

Jamaica, VA – Speedway officials have announced that 2018 driver registration is now open for all Aaron’s Dirt Series Championship weekly divisions. Competitors are encouraged to get their registration in before the opening weekend. Registration is once again $100 for the year OR $25 per race. Number choice for the top twenty (20) in 2017 points is secured until February 28, 2018, at that time all numbers will be first come, first served. Competitors can print off the 2018 forms and mail them in with a check or provide credit card info at the bottom of the registration form. There is a $3 convenience fee when using a credit card. There are three forms that MUST be filled out for registration. Please have them all filled out and returned. Jamaica, VA – The 2018 Truckin Thunder Sportsman rules had an error in them when posted yesterday. Notes on the mock-up were inadvertently added to the rules. The rule in question is under Cylinder Heads 15.2.11. the rule should state NO MINIMUM CC instead of HEAD PART NUMBER WILL DETERMINE CC. The rule book has been corrected and is available for download. Our apologies for the mix-up. Jamaica, VA – Virginia Motor Speedway has released the 2018 rules packages for the Budweiser Modified, Truckin Thunder sportsman and Collision One Limited Stock Car divisions. FASTRAK Pro Late Model rules for 2018 will be released after the FASTRAK Banquet. It is the responsibility of the driver / crews to read the new rules fully as all division and General Rules have changes for 2018.
