Speedway to Host WRAR / WNNT Night This Saturday April 16

Jamaica, VA – After two weeks of rain outs fans and competitors alike are ready for some racing at Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway. This Saturday April 16th the speedway will once again attempt to get the track’s 47th season underway with WRAR / WNNT Night. The evening will feature all four of the track’s Aaron’s Dirt Series Championship weekly division in action. See the Victory Lap Pro Late Model, Truckin Thunder Sportsman, Budweiser Modified and Collision One Limited Stock Car divisions in some exciting side by side action. Competitor gates for Saturday April 16th will open at 12pm for inspection and registration with spectator gates opening at 5pm. On track activities will begin at 6pm for hot laps. Divisions scheduled to race on Saturday: Victory Pro Late Models (30 Laps); Budweiser Modifieds (25 Laps); Truckin Thunder Sportsman (25 laps) and the Collision One Limited Stock Cars (20 laps). All divisions will run Hot Lap Time Trials and Features. Admission price for Adults $12, seniors (60+) $10; military (active/retired w/ proper I.D.) $8, students 11 – 17 years old $6 and children 10 and under admitted free. Pit passes will be $20. To enhance the fans racing experience the speedway has installed a short wave FM transmitter and all of the evening’s action can be heard at 95.5 FM. So bring your portable radio headset and enjoy hearing all the action....

Aaron’s King of the Commonwealth Canceled amid Extreme Weather Forecast

Jamaica, Virginia (April 6, 2016) – After extensive discussion and study of weather forecasts for the area, officials of Virginia Motor Speedway have reluctantly decided to cancel Saturday’s $20,000 to win Aaron’s King of the Commonwealth. The National Weather Service is forecasting temps well below freezing for Saturday along with 20 MPH winds. There is also a high percentage of precipitation forecasted which would make preparing the track for the event difficult if not impossible. Without a suitable make-up date the event will be postponed until 2017. However the Aaron’s title sponsorship and the $20,000 to win purse will be transferred to the USA 100 which is scheduled on Saturday, June 4th. “This is obviously not what we wanted to happen with this event. We have poured a lot of time, effort and resources into making the Aaron’s King of the Commonwealth a success. But the weather forecast is just ominous. We were hoping that it would improve but those cold temps and wind coupled with the precipitation that we will surely get and there is just no way that we could expect people to be here and be able to enjoy the event. So we will take care of our friends at Aaron’s by transferring that title to the USA 100 in June.” said Virginia Motor Speedway Director of Marketing and PR Dave Seay. “It is very unfortunate but there isn’t anything anyone can do about the weather. Saturday just looks miserable. It just doesn’t make any sense to ask people to try to endure that kind of weather. We hate to lose a race anytime but sometimes you just have to play the cards that are dealt and do what’s best for everyone. On the bright side the weather looks good for Potomac on Friday so the weekend won’t be a total washout.” said ULTIMATE Series Owner and Founder Stan Lester. Mother Nature Takes Opening Night of 2016 Season

Jamaica, VA – After six months of waiting for the 2016 season to start, fans and competitors will have to wait another week to get their racing fix as officials at Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway have canceled racing activities for opening night April 2, 2016 due to the wet grounds and continued thunderstorms in the forecast. “You hate to lose the first race of the season, but with the wet grounds and more rain on the way we felt it best to cancel the event rather than wait till the last minute”, commented track General Manager Clarke Sawyer. The Speedway will now turn it’s attentions to preparing the ½ mile facility for next Saturday’s (April 9) $20,000 to win Aaron’s King of the Commonwealth. The event is sanctioned by the Ultimate Super Late Model Series and will also include a $3000 to win FASTRAK Racing National Tour event for Pro (Crate) Late Model competitors. This is one event you will not want to miss. Admission price for adults is only $30, seniors (60+) $25; military (active/retired w/ proper I.D.) $20, students 11 – 17 years old $15 and children 10 and under admitted free. Pit passes will be $40. 16” coolers are welcomed but no glass is allowed. There is plenty of free lit parking and camping (no hookups) is allowed at no charge on a first come first served basis....

Preparations Underway for Virginia Motor Speedway’s 47th Season; Car Registrations Being Accepted

Jamaica, VA – Preparations are already underway to open the 47th season of action at Virginia Motor Speedway on Saturday April 2nd with WRAR / WNNT Night at the races. The anticipation for the first race of the season has been escalating with fans and competitors alike with both groups excited to get the speedway’s 47th season underway. The 2016 season will consist of 13 Aaron’s Dirt Series weekly events, two high profile super late model specials and the season ending Fastrak World Championship for Pro Late Models. Aaron’s will move from title sponsor of the Pro Late Model division and become the title sponsor of the tracks Weekly Racing Dirt Series Championship. Victory Lap, LLC will move from the title of the Limited Late Model division to the Pro Late Model division which has been elevated to the track’s premier division for 2016 and beyond. The season opening event will take place on Saturday evening April 2nd and feature a full program of Aaron’s Dirt Series action that will include the Victory Lap Pro Late Model, Truckin Thunder Sportsman, Budweiser Modified and Collision One Limited Stock divisions. The speedway is accepting registrations with the top twenty in each class having their number saved until February 15th when all numbers will become first come first served. Speedway Releases 2016 Schedule

Jamaica, VA – The tentative 2016 schedule for Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway has been released and includes 13 weeks of Aaron’s Dirt Series action, three special events and two mud bogs. The track’s always competitive weekly divisions begin their race for the division Championships and the Aaron’s Dirt Series Championship on Saturday April 2nd and end with the final point’s race of the season on Saturday September 3rd. This year’s division line-up will include the Victory Lap Pro Late Models, Truckin Thunder Sportsman, Budweiser Modifieds and the Collision One Limited Stock Cars. The first special event of 2016 will be the Aaron’s King of the Commonwealth sanctioned by the very popular Ultimate Super Late Model Series. The one day $20,000 event is expected to bring some of the nationals top super late model drivers back to the Commonwealth of Virginia for what will be one of the best races of the year. The Ultimate Super Late Model Series will then return on Saturday June 4th as they sanction the 38th Annual Tire-X USA 100. This year’s event will get a purse increase that will have the winner taking home a $15,000 check. The event will also be part of a four race mini-series billed as the Colonial Clash Championship presented by Dirt Nation. The series will start at Georgetown Speedway on Tursday June 2nd for a $4000 to win event, then head to Potomac Speedway on Friday June 3rd for a $5000 to win event; the third event will be the $15,000 to win Tire-X USA 100 on Saturday June 4th with the final event being a $5000 affair at Winchester Speedway. The mini-series will also have a $15,000 point fund with $4000 going to the champion and pay the top 15 in points. To be eligible for the point fund drivers must attempt to race all four events. After a successful debut in 2015 the speedway will again host two, $3000 to win Fastrak Pro Late Model “National Tour” events in conjunction with the two super late model events, making both events a late model fans dream. For two year’s in a row the Fastrak World Championship has produced some of the best racing ever seen at the speedway. The event returns to the 2016 schedule and will be contested on September 16 – 17th. The “Super Bowl” of Pro Late Model racing will now be an open event allowing any competitor to compete with no restrictions other than car must meet and pass Fastrak rules. The event will feature the $5000 to win World Challenge on Friday, September 16th and the $15,000 to win finale on Saturday, September 17th that will crown the Fastrak Pro Late Model World Champion. More details about the Fastrak World Championship will be released in the very near future. Along with the weekly racing action and the special events the speedway will also host two mud bogs at its state of the art mud bog facility that will be celebrating its eleventh year of racing. On Saturday May 21st “The Pit at VMS” will host the 9th Annual Down and Dirty Mud Mayhem and on Saturday October 8th the 12th Annual Down and Dirty Run-A-Muck Mud Bog and Mud Sling presented by James River Equipment and Commonwealth Motor Sports. Aaron’s USA 100 to Pay $20,000 to Win; Now part of Four Race Colonial Clash Championship Mini-Series

Jamaica, VA – The excitement level for the 39th Annual Aaron’s USA 100 has been kicked up a notch or two with the announcement that the event will now be part of a the four race mini-series billed as the Colonial Clash Championship presented by Dirt Nation and also pay $15,000 to win. The Aaron’s USA 100 will be contested on Saturday June 4, 2016 as the third race in the four race mini-series and will once again be sanctioned by the Ultimate Super Late Model Series. The speedway has partnered with three other tracks in the region Georgetown Speedway (Georgetown, DE), Potomac Speedway (Budds Creek, MD) and Winchester Speedway (Winchester, VA) to put together a fantastic tour with a great point fund for the competitors that run all four events. All four shows will be sanctioned by the Ultimate Super Late Model Series. “We wanted to do something to bolster up car counts and try to bring in more of the traveling fans to our USA 100 event. We knew if we could work together with some of the other tracks and promoters in the region that we could do just that. On Saturday, June 4th the 39th Annual USA 100 features a purse boost and will pay $20,000 to win for the 60 lap feature. FASTRAK Pro Late Models to become top division at Virginia Motor Speedway starting in 2016

Jamaica, VA – When the green flag drops to signal the start of weekly competition at Virginia Motor Speedway in 2016 fans will see a major change in the division line-up with the FASTRAK Pro Late Model division taking over as the top division at the ½ mile speed plant in Jamaica, VA. After much discussion the speedway will be dropping the Limited Late Model division and elevate the FASTRAK Pro Late Models to the tracks premier division for the 2016 season and beyond. “With the car counts going down in the Limited Late Model division and the cost to field one of those cars going up we felt it was time to make the switch with the FASTRAK Pro Late Model class being one of our fastest growing divisions in 2015,” commented track owner Bill Sawyer. “This move will only help grow the division and also highlight our commitment to not only the FASTRAK Pro Late Model division but also our hosting the FASTRAK World Championship,” concluded Sawyer. The division will now be known as the Victory Lap Pro Late Model division as long-time limited late model sponsor Victory Lap, LLC takes over the division sponsorship. With the move the FASTRAK Pro Late Model division weekly payout will now be $1000 to win and $100 to start the A-Main. Speedway Crowns 2015 Champions; Hutchens crowned VMS Dirt Series Champion

Jamaica, VA – Bill Sawyers Virginia Motor Speedway officially wrapped up the 2015 season by recognizing the top ten in each of the track’s divisions with special attention reserved for the 2015 champions. During the night’s events almost $39,000 in cash and prizes were awarded, of that almost $32,000 was in cash. Justin Williams of Concord, VA was crowned the 2015 Victory Lap Late Model Champion for the third year in a row and received a check for $5,000 for his efforts. Williams also received a $500 certificate from the Joie of Seating, a custom calendar from Al Goulder Photography, his Championship helmet trophy and his Champions jacket from Hoosier Tire Mid-Atlantic. Williams became only the third driver to win 3 titles in a row. Tyler Bare of Rockbridge Baths, VA was crowned the Aaron’s Pro Late Model Champion. Bare became the tracks first ever third generation driver to win a championship at the speedway. The young Bare joins his grandfather Tommy Bare (Late Model – 1980) and father Booper Bare (Super Late Models – 2003, 2004) in winning tracks titles at the ½ mile facility. Bare received a check for $1,000, a $500 certificate from the Joie of Seating, a custom calendar from Al Goulder Photography, his Championship helmet trophy, his Champions jacket from Hoosier Tire Mid-Atlantic and a 40” HD / Blueray combo television from sponsor Aaron’s. Chad Beahr of Mechanicsville, VA was crowned the 2015 Truckin Thunder Sportsman Champion and received a check for $1,000 for his efforts. Matt Quade of Mechanicsville, MD was crowned the 2015 Budweiser Modified Champion, his second championship in a row. Ryan Hutchens of Providence Forge, VA won the Collision One Limited Stock Car Championship. It was his career first championship. Hutchens received a check for $700, a $500 certificate from the Joie of Seating, a custom calendar from Al Goulder Photography his Championship helmet trophy and his Champions jacket from Hoosier Tire Mid-Atlantic. The speedway also crowns an overall VMS Dirt Series Champion which pits all five divisions against each other. Ryan Hutchens became the first ever Collision One Limited Stock Car driver to ever win the overall Championship and received a $2000 check and the special eagle trophy that goes along with winning the title. SPEEDWAY TO CLOSE BOOKS ON SEASON WITH 2015 AWARDS BANQUET THIS SATURDAY OCTOBER 24

Jamaica, VA – Virginia Motor Speedway will officially close the books on the season with the 2015 Awards Banquet to be held this Saturday, October 24, 2015. The event will once again be held at the beautiful Double Tree Hotel and Resort in Virginia Beach, VA. During the evenings award ceremony over $55,000 in cash and contingencies will be handed out to the Speedway’s five Champions and the remainder of the top 10 in each division. The Victory Lap Late Model Champion will receive $5,000 for winning his championship. The Speedway will also crown the 2015 VMS Dirt Series Champion and award him or her with a $2000 check. The VMS Dirt Series Championship pits all of the Speedway’s competitors against each other and crowning one overall Champion. One of the most exciting and memorable times during the Awards Banquet weekend is the annual go-kart race that is held at Motoworld in Virginia Beach. Fans, Competitors and officials gather to compete in a friendly atmosphere that leaves everyone talking during the night’s banquet festivities.
