Speedway to open Weekly Racing season this Saturday April 18th With WRAR/WNNT Night

Jamaica, VA – Virginia Motor Speedway will return to racing this Saturday April 18th to host opening night of the 2015 season. WRAR/WNNT Night will feature all five of the Virginia Army National Guard Dirt Series divisions. The night will feature the Victory Lap Late Model, Aaron’s Pro Late Model, Truckin Thunder Sportsman, Budweiser Modified and Collision One Limited Stock Car divisions. Competitor gates for Saturday April 18th will open at 2pm for inspection and registration with spectator gates opening at 5pm. On track activities will begin at 6pm for hot laps. Divisions scheduled to race on Saturday: Victory Lap Late Models (30 Laps); Aaron’s Pro Late Models (25 Laps); Budweiser Modifieds (25 Laps); Truckin Thunder Sportsman (25 laps) and the Collision One Limited Stock Cars (20 laps). All divisions will run Hot Lap Time Trials and Features. Admission price for Adults $12, seniors (60+) $10; military (active/retired w/ proper I.D.) $8, students 11 – 17 years old $6 and children 10 and under admitted free. Pit passes will be $20. To enhance the fans racing experience the speedway has installed a short wave FM transmitter and all of the evening’s action can be heard at 95.5 FM. Jamaica, VA – The tentative 2015 schedule for Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway has been released and includes 12 weeks of Virginia Army National Guard Dirt Series action, three special events and two mud bogs. The track’s always competitive weekly divisions begin their race for the division Championships and the Virginia Army National Guard Dirt Series Championship on Saturday April 18th and end with the final point’s race of the season on Saturday September 5th. This year’s division line-up will once again include the Victory Lap Late Models, Aaron’s Pro Late Models, Truckin Thunder Sportsman, Budweiser Modifieds and the Collision One Limited Stock Cars. Opening up the 2015 season will be the Aaron’s King of the Commonwealth sanctioned by the very popular Ultimate Super Late Model Series. The one day $20,000 event is expected to bring some of the nationals top super late model drivers back to the Commonwealth of Virginia for what will be one of the best races of the year. The Ultimate Super Late Model Series will then return on Saturday May 16th as they sanction the 37th Annual USA 100. For the first time the speedway will host two, $3000 to win Fastrak Pro Late Model “National Bonus Race” events in conjunction with both super late model events, making both events a late model fans dream. After producing one of the best races in the track’s history the Fastrak World Championship will return to the 2015 schedule. The “Super Bowl” of Pro Late Model racing is scheduled for September 18 – 19, 2015. The event will feature two, $3000 to win events on Friday, September 18th and the $15,000 to win finale on Saturday, September 19th that will crown the Fastrak Pro Late Model World Champion. More details about the Fastrak World Championship will be released in the very near future. Along with the weekly racing action and the special events the speedway will also host two mud bogs at its state of the art mud bog facility that will be celebrating its eleventh year of racing. On Saturday June 20th “The Pit at VMS” will host the 7th Annual Down and Dirty Mud Mayhem and on Saturday October 10th the 11th Annual Down and Dirty Run-A-Muck Mud Bog and Mud Sling presented by James River Equipment and the Virginia Army National Guard. Jamaica, VA – Bill Sawyers Virginia Motor Speedway wrapped up the 2014 season by recognizing the top ten in each of the track’s divisions with special attention reserved for the 2014 champions. During the night’s events almost $38,000 in cash and prizes were awarded, of that almost $32,000 was in cash. Justin Williams of Shipman, VA was crowned the 2014 Victory Lap Late Model Champion for the second year in a row and received a check for $5,000 for his efforts. Williams also received a $500 certificate from the Joie of Seating, a custom calendar from Al Goulder Photography and his Championship helmet trophy and jacket. Bobby Thompson of Concord, VA was crowned the very first Aaron’s Pro Late Model Champion. Thompson received a check for $1,000, a $500 certificate from the Joie of Seating, a custom calendar from Al Goulder Photography and his Championship helmet trophy and jacket. Brett Adkins of Gloucester, VA was crowned the 2014 Truckin Thunder Sportsman Champion for the second year in a row and received a check for $1,000 for his efforts. The event will once again be held at the beautiful Double Tree Hotel and Resort in Virginia Beach, VA. Jamaica, VA – Officials at Virginia Motor Speedway have announced that the speedway will host a $2000 to win Modified event in conjunction with the running of the Fastrak World Championship on Saturday October 4th. The Fastrak World Championship will have the best Pro Late Model drivers in the country battling for the $20,000 top prize October 2-4th. The 30 lap modified event will pay $2000 to win and $140 to start the A-Main and will be a one day show. The event will feature group qualifying, heats, B-Main(s) and the 30 lap feature all on Saturday October 4th. There will be a $25 entry fee and pit passes will be $30 (one-day pass). Both Hoosier Tire and American Race Tire compounds will be allowed but must be E-Mod tires (soft, medium, hard – all accepted). UMP, IMCA, EDGE and AMRA body rules will be permitted. Engines rules will consist of a 383 CID max with the top five being pumped in post race inspection. Any 4-barrel or 2-barrel carburetor allowed (single carb only).
