Jamaica, VA – Beautiful skies and weather greeted the fans and competitors for Northern Neck Chevrolet | MetroCast Business Services Night at Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway. After three rain outs the competitors were anxious to get back to racing and offered up some of the best racing of the season for the fans. In the Aaron’s Pro Late Model division Davis Lipscombe of Mechanicsville, VA started on the pole and looked to be cruising to a comforatbale win when caution came back out to close the filed back up on his bumper. From there Lipscombe fended off several challenges over the final five laps to score his career first Aaron’s Pro Late Model victory. “I can’t tell you how good this feels; we have been working so hard in this Pro Late Model division to get a win but the competition is so tough here at Virginia Motor Speedway,” commented a very excited Lipscombe in victory lane. Lipscombe and Brett Adkins led the field to green with Lipscombe taking the top spot out of two. Once out front Lipscombe worked to a full straight lead while Adkins and Tyler Bare put on a side by side show for fifteen laps. Caution would come out on lap 21 closing everyone on the leader’s bumper for a restart with four to go. Lipscombe would pull away with Mark Parks passing both Adkins and Bare for second. Once in second Parks reeled n the leader and looked to be in position to make the pass for the lead when caution came out with two to go. On the final restart Lipscombe was able to hold off Parks and go on to score the victory. Parks, Bare, Paul McGinley and Adkins rounded out the top five. In other action Justin Williams of Concord, VA spun on lap nine of the Victory Lap Late Model feature went to the rear then worked his way to the front taking the lead on lap 21, muscling Joe Ender from the top spot to then cruise to his second win of the season. In the Budweiser Modifieds Matt Quade of Mechanicsville, MD battled with his uncle Mike Reynolds of Clements, MD for nine laps nearly side by side the whole time to get past on lap 19 and go on to score his fourth win of the season. In the Truckin Thunder Sportsman 20 lap feature Brett Adkins of Gloucester. VA battled with Jeremiah Marshall of Stuarts Draft, VA going to the outside of turn 2 to take the lead and the eventual win. And in the Collision One Limited Stock Car 20 lap feature James Givens of Henrico, VA raced from his thirteenth starting position to take his third victory in a row. Jamaica, VA – After five days of torrential rains soaking the grounds at Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway officials have canceled racing for Saturday June 6th. It is the first rainout of the season. “The week long rain has flooded the grounds and made it impossible to get the track and parking areas into an acceptable safe condition for tomorrow’s events so we unfortunately have to cancel tomorrow’s event”, commented track General Manager Clarke Sawyer. The speedway will take next week off and then move over to the mud bog facility to host the first of two big Mud Bog events for the 2015 season. Saturday June 20th The Pit at Virginia Motor Speedway hosts the 8th Annual Down & Dirty Mud Mayhem presented by James River Equipment. Additional sponsorship provided by Aaron’s, Atkins Propane and Petroleum, Kalbones Speedshop and Offroad, Collision One and Truckin Thunder. There will be seven classes of “Mud Maniacs” in action ranging from Super Stock to Unlimited with cash payouts in all classes. Not only will fans get to see hordes of trucks splashing through the 200 foot Mud Bog pit but they will also get the opportunity to see some of the region’s best Mud Dragsters covering the 200 foot Mud Sling pit in under three seconds. Gates and registration will open at 9am with Single Eliminations for Super Stock A, B; Modified A (Small tire), B (Big Tire), Unlimited Bog, Pro Modified A, Pro Modified B and X, XX classes beginning at 12 noon.
